As a recovering alcoholic, I have to remember to use the same principles that help me stop drinking in all things regarding discipline and self control. The number rule for giving up alcohol is that you have be honest with yourself that you cannot drink like everyone else. With my diet I have to remember I cannot just eat one cookie , I have a sweet tooth and I am greedy. When I abstain from negative things I can lose weight easily but I yo yo because I lie to myself about eating just a few this time so the weight come back. Alcohol had much more dire consequences so I am able to abstain completely but I need to take that same attitude regarding any negative habit I have.

So right about “no bad foods.” I’m learning to eat everything I like but just not a trough full. MyFitnessPal is helping. I’m staying within my allotted calories, eating a variety of foods, and losing steadily. Our garden also helps. Eating more fruits and veggies from our garden, eating seasonally, and learning new recipes based upon what’s growing.

I know it sounds like a pain to track all your food, but using My Fitness Pal helped me get a better understanding of the value of the food I was eating, and figure out the foods that I could define as 'not worth' eating and which were powerhouses that I enjoy.

I do work out regularly and I eat right most of the time but I have my slip ups about once a week (binge eating, feeling burned out etc.) and it is keeping me from seeing the results I want. I watched one of your most inspirational video for me years ago. It’s when you first started out. The one where you filmed in your bathroom, before new-age KZbin videography 😄 the part I remember was silent and you used your fingers to number the steps you took to create change with your weight loss goals. I can’t remember how many years ago. I just want to share that as much as I wanted to begin my journey then I was not in a healthy emotional space to take steps of my own. I’m glad you’re revisiting this again. I’m ready 😌

I had to lose pounds for heath reason because HBP ran in my mother's family so my main thing was eating out. I had to cut out eating out though my husband loved it. I would follow him to restaurants, Rita's Water Ice, Sonic milkshakes and I realized that wasn't good for me so once I cut that down and began cooking us HMM, the pounds started dropping. I always been one to workout because I believe in keeping muscle as long as possible so adding the two together helped me out totally. BTW, where you get that white wide sleeved blouse you're wearing with jeans that blouse is 100% my style.

This was so awesome Dr. Nina! I have been intermittent fasting since the beginning of January and lost 40 pounds. I don’t exercise and now I’m incorporating exercise into my routine. Understanding food and true hunger are so important. My window of Fasting is 12 to 16 hours a day. This small change has made my life not wanting when it comes to food. I eat whatever I want but like you I make conscious decisions about fuel and I incorporate comfort foods daily. I have so many people start these fad diet at the first of the year like drinking only juice or cutting out whole food groups and they lost a lot of weight initially but then regained it back. This is truly a lifestyle for me and I never worry about food because I have control over it I don’t have cravings and if I want ice cream I have ice cream LOL. Thank you so much for all you do

If you have a watch or tracker you could just walk start off with 1k-5k and go up from there you got this. And a colonic will also help aide to help you start.

@@leelee5593 Thank you. I am just keep things very simple it’s not that serious for me I think that your lifestyle should just be something that you can do forever. People go on and off things and they become hyper vigilant about certain things and I’m a social scientist. You know the paradigm of why French women don’t get fat. They live a lifestyle that balances stress and walking and a host of other things. They don’t walk around with pedometers they don’t walk around with counting calories they just live a lifestyle that Is seamless. They don’t go to Gyms. They eat sweets and they eat meat and they do all of these things. I’ve just taken that approach. I have learned how to just live my life in moderation and making food not that serious. A diet is something that you go on or off for most people and trust me I’ve done my share but just by taking this really low tech/high results way of living it has worked for me. But many thanks! But finally after 19 years lol the pooch is disappearing just through intermittent fasting. I will start exercising in a couple of months

Dr Nina is my girl. I am 22 years old and not long away the Holy Spirit said to me I need to take care of my body weight and have a better lifestyle including what i put inside will eventually show outside. This is great video! I was worried I'd be triggered since I recovered last year from a 15 year battle with my eating disorder. But we went through the same thing, therapy helped and body acceptance helped me connect and stay present. Intuitive eating dietician helped too. Now I just need to work in my relationship with movement. I still associate it with punishment.

You can start with a tracker on your phone or a watch and you can just walk instead of doing vigorous workouts you can start with 1k-5k and go up from there you got this good 🍀

I naturally loss 117 pounds and kept it off for over 10 years. My dad died, I got divorced, the 40s came, Covid happened (gyms closed), fell in love again, and gained back 70 pounds. Trying to find the motivation to get it back off. I happen to do Hello Fresh already and it's great! Enjoyed your video though sista, good to see others on the journey as well.

Great Info!!! I’m a 50 year old recovering from a radical hysterectomy with 35 pounds to lose I appreciate all of this. I intermittent fast 6 days a week 16:8. I eat clean, high protein, adequate fiber, water only, no alcohol or soda. I love yoga … sleep 8 hours nightly, have a job and relationship I love walk 3 miles per day minimum-weekly strength and resistance training. I’ve done this ALL for a year with NO WEIGHT loss. I’m just making peace with the obvious fact I’ll never “look” fit and in shape again. I don’t binge and don’t feel deprived. I am learning that good habits don’t work for Us all…at least not on the outside.

I noticed when I eat yogurt or make a smoothie with peanut butter I feel less hungry. Chlorophyll water helps too.

You have NO IDEA how much I needed to hear this. I truly have the most unhealthiest relationship with food. It seems like after I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, it got worse. I can’t seem to stop eating the most unhealthy foods! Overeat even! Then I feel so bad and guilty afterwards that I just want to not exist anymore. I know I’m beyond helping but this video at least made me feel a little better.

Thank you for the healthy eating tips. I have to get back on the wagon. I'm feeling out of control . I'm craving like crazy. I have to end my love affair with baked goods. I.e. cake, cookies, muffins, bread. Etc. I'm going to go back, and watch this video again.😄
