It's absolutely nuts to think this was a robbery when the guy who won was on the attack for almost the whole fight and the guy who lost was so locked in in defence for almost the entire fight.. it was a close fight i had it 115-113 for beterbiev.. beterbiev edged it with his ring generalship, pressure and aggression and especially so by winning the championship rounds quite convincingly.

Bivol was spectacular and brilliant at his best, his skills are breathtaking and especially against a freak human wrecking machine, no one else is near either of them in the LHW division but Beterbiev edged it for me.

I had Beterbiev 7-5 myself. Both guys knew exactly what they needed to do, Bivol was in control when the fight was in the middle of the ring, and Beterbiev was in control when Bivol was in reverse gear but Bivol was still having success counterpunching.

BIvol doesn't counter punch. he waits until you stop attacking and go on defense with the gloves up. THen he starts punching the gloves to score points.

agree in the main but ... i think Bet's game plan in particular wasn't ideal and could be refined. He did not really attack Biv's body until late and I thought that was available to him from the outset. That change where he started throwing the str8 right and right hook to the body consistently as of rnd 9 is what turned the fight in his favor. IMHO, if Bet does that from rnd 1 in a rematch, he'll win easily and likely take Biv out.

After all, he has always done it this way - methodically working the body and going up and down. I’m just speechless, none of this would have happened. For me, Gvozdyk was stronger than Bivol. Back then, with Gvozdyk, Artur worked in his standard manner, and it always brought him convincing results. I have no explanation for why he didn’t do it this time. Maybe he still has a problem with his knee or something else? It’s unclear. Still, Beterbiev did the minimum but enough to not be accused of not being a true champion. Artur attacked and inflicted significant damage on his opponent. However, there will always be those who dispute this in such a close fight. Here, I still give the credit not to Bivol, with all due respect to him, but to Beterbiev for making the fight so competitive

In practice it's one of those fights that could have gone either way, and in fights like that when one fighter gets essentially no credit, a lot of people aren't going to like it.

​@@AGuyCalledHenryThis is similar to SGL vs Hagler. Hagler seemed to have the momentum at the end but SGL came out with sudden bursts of aggression. It's what Bivol didn't do the last 3 rounds. He needed to fight for optics. We really don't know how much he had left even though he didn't use all of it. 115-113 Beterbiev is fair. Bivol proved he is the better p4p as Beterbiev is a weight class bully. He's been one his whole pro career.

@@aachoocrony5754 How do you know anything about his weight? Beterbiev has always fought at this weight for his height. Even in the amateurs, the Russians had another boxer by nationality - Mekhontsev. So, to send Mekhontsev to the Olympics in his native weight class, they made Beterbiev (a Chechen - he's not Russian, they are completely different peoples) move up to a weight class that wasn’t his, where Usyk was fighting. And even there, Beterbiev managed to cause a lot of problems, even knocking him down or something like that. In short, accusing the shorter Beterbiev of fighting in his natural weight class is, at the very least, unclear and outrageous. Bivol is a bit taller than Beterbiev; you should send him to the higher weight classes. That would be fairer.

@@halidtimes4664 height doesn't determine weight class. Beterbiev was cruiserweight in Russia. You also mention Usyk who is also a natural cruiser weight. He went up, Beterbiev went down. Bivol is actually a lower lhw. That's what Beterbiev means when he says 'I want to be good boxer'. He is a good boxer but he will never be great. He's spent his whole career in 1 weight class...that is lower than his own. And look at their frames, and shoulders. Look at Beterbiev's skinny arms in relation to his frame. He is at least 10-15lbs above Bivol naturally. Possibly up to 32. 190-168. Pacquiao conquered 8 divisions. Roy Jones jr. has multiple belts in 5. Those fighters are remembered, Beterbiev will be forgotten. 'Beterbiev's power' is good for marketing.

Been following Beterbiev's career for a while never seen him gassed out like that, this definitely wasnt the beterbiev that fought callum smith. I think knee injury definitely played a role, If its age related then we have seen the best of beterbiev. This was a close match but not a robbery

The problem with the bias is this in some peoples heads is: Every outcome is possible except Beterbiev winning on point. This means all Bivol has to do is not get knocked out, this is a wrong and closed minded way to look at things. Fact is Bivol can be outboxed, Beterbiev cant knock out everyone. Every outcome is possible. But watching this fight, they both nullified each other, very interesting fight

He always do this against punchers in round 11 to prove himself. Watch Canelo fight. I personally love it when does that but it's not good when the fight is so close. I agree now thinking back I remember saying during the last 2 rounds fuck they’re gonna give it to Beterbiev because Bivol didn’t close it properly especially I think round either 10 or 11 where he didn’t throw a single punch and just stayed shelled up in his guard. The championship rounds in a close fight in my opinion are the difference maker in a fight like that. Great fight. 7-5 or draw either way. Deffo not a robbery. It was between the crisp cleaner punches of bivol or beterbievs consistency and aggression. Both on rewatch caught a lot on the guard, but beterbiev was knocking bivol around and making impact even on his guard. I feel in the 2nd half of the fight bivol would stay tight but not throw enough whilst artur was probing consistently. Bivols work was defo more memorable but artur kept the heat on and wore him down in the champ rds with body shots and hooks. A few swings rds in my score card too but i hard beterbiev 7-5. Bivol/Bivol's team clearly thought they had won as the fight ends, and we've all seen that before too. One thing I've thought for a while is that if I was a high level boxer/boxers team, getting millions a fight, in a fight like this, I would pay for 2 or 3 ex boxing judges to be in the crowd and independently mark each round, and feed it to the seconds each interval, that way, although of course not guaranteed, it would likely be a better estimation of what the judges may be scoring and then the team/fighter can adjust to that. Perhaps Bivol could have won one of the last 3 rounds if he thought it was close!...Look at the last Fury fight, if they had done this it may have been different. Thoughts?

Nice video. I have no "skin in the game," - so objectively speaking, Beter was an unimpressive stalker who did nothing to win the fight. Bivol, on the other hand, was a crisp, proficient, deliberate boxer who executed his game plan. I won't use the term "robbery," but I can't think of a better word right now. NOTE: post-fight, Beter was a man so clearly humbled by the loss (in his heart). Beter knows he didn't win. Body language is impossible to fake.

Bivol usual fights were in-out in straight line and counter combo jabs. This time he fight to survive by moving laterally. The impression was not good for Bivol as it looked he plan to survive. not to mention clinchings which means Bivol couldnt move laterally much in rd 11 and rd 12 no more

Artur didn't eVen look healthy also wheN have we seen him tired in the 7th round never bivol lost to a 40 year old artur at 50 percent health n still beat bivol 7-5 every round was close but artur controlled every one even the ones he lost bivol got hurt in the fight a couple times

In the 7th round? Nah, he was just hurt a little bit, then he cracked Bivol as he got greedy and had him wheeling around the ring for the rest of the round.

the fight was very good, it wasn't great, not a "classic". i thought it took Bet interminably long to go consistently to Biv's body. that was available all night , but he chose to head hunt for 9 rounds. if he goes to Biv's body from the outset, I think he wins going away and probably takes Biv out. The distance Biv chose to fight at early on surprised me. He was closer than I expected, and it wasn't bad for him either.I thought his slightly further distance with more motion in rounds 7-9 was more effective, but the closer range worked for Biv surprisingly well. Good observation that Bet did seem to lose some steam in the 12th. First time I've ever seen him slow down at the end of a fight. Agree that it's most likely a result of an inability to put in the usual roadwork due to the knee.

He was closer than usual because Bet was hounding him. It was Bet’s entrapment footwork who’s making Bivol fight closer than his normal in-out range.

Beterbiev corner said they needed a knockout. The betting lines in the later rds showed more ppl would putting money on bivol to win. Look at Beterbiev body languuage at the end of the fight. They knew they lost. Bivol was robbed. Point blank.

Bivol won 6 rounds; Beterbiev won 3 rounds and the other 3 just draw; Bivol cannot win the war of 2 front. I will re-watch the fight again; to me Bivol clearly won the fight. But rematch will be bigger pay day for both fighters; that's the politic of boxing in my opinion.

Bivol clearly won. -Bivol landed 219/583 -Beterbiev landed 233/1023 Beterbiev won because the judges can't tell effective aggression vs walking forward and throwing lots of ineffective punches.

Great analysis maybe my bias i thought Bivol nicked it, but i could see it seems Artur looked more composed and his attacks seemed to have more effect. However, i thought bivol won more rounds BUT when artur won rounds it was more clear.

Phenomenal analysis. Fair, reasonable and logical. I’ve been displeased with the rhetoric in the sweet science community. I personally had Beterbiev 116-112. From what I can recall the same as Judge Kardyni. I can see an argument for 115-113 though. I like to think despite there being discussion around the appropriate score on the cards ultimately the correct decision was made. And that should be the main point of focus. What Teddy Atlas had to say was exactly how I saw the fight too.
