That will slowly get better. I tried to sleep with my ice pump machine which helped but it was tough having that hose going to my knee. I hope you can get to that point soon where you can sleep all night. It is a good milestone to hit.

I glad I found you! My knee replacement will be July 11th, you’re giving me an idea of what to expect. And I know each person is different, I did buy an ice machine for post surgery. At this point I have to use a walker to go anywhere. Thank you!

Sorry for the late reply. I just saw your message. I am so glad I was able to help some. I am getting around really good now and can walk up and down stairs without favoring one leg. My right leg got so weak. I get my other knee replaced in the Fall. I hope and pray you will fully heal and enjoy your new knee. Just be patient with the recovery and physical therapy for the first 4 or 5 weeks. Yes, we all heal differently but you will do great. I am excited that you can get off that walker soon. Getting the strength and flexibility back in you legs will take time. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. Gary

8 days post TKR and feeling really good. Do my exercises and walk around the house and outside with my walker. I am close to transition to the cane. Definitely some weird feelings but keeping after it. Today is last day of Oxy. Have tramadol if needed but hoping to just use Tylenol.

That is wonderful. I am now 4 weeks post surgery on my second tkr. My first one is getting a good workout now. But it is going well. I hope and pray you continue to do well and have great progress. That is great news. Gary

Thanks for your videos !! How many times do you do therapy/Exercise a day at home ?
@GaryForgingOnАй бұрын
I would only do therapy at home on my days I did not go into PT. Most of the time I only did it once a day but I did spend some extra times on days trying to get my leg to bend or stretch out. I would sit on the bed and put a towel around it or a belt and pull it back as far as I could and also push down as far as I could. But the rest of the exercises I just did once a day. When the therapist worked me out I called that good for the day.

Did your hip hurt during recovery??
@GaryForgingOn16 күн бұрын
I had a bad hip and a bad knee on my right side. All the limping and twisting and over using my left leg wore my left knee out. I originally thought all my pain in my first knee was just from the bad knee until I went to the doctor and he told me my hip was worse than my knee. He wanted to do the hip first since you feel hip pain in the knees and during knee rehab you bend that hip a lot. So I had my hip replaced in 2019 and then both knees replaced, 6 months apart, in 2022. But to answer your question, my hip was a little sore from using it more since I could not use it much before the replacements. But not that bad. But it does work your hip out during rehab. When I had my hip replaced, my knee really hurt bad afterwards. I asked my doc about it and he said whatever joint they work on the next joint to it suffers. So maybe yours is feeling it more because of that. That is just my experiences. I know I am only one person and everyone is different. I hope that helps a little.

Hello Mr. surgeries! At this point you know a lot about joints surgeries than anyone else! In your experience which is been the hardest to deal with it?
@GaryForgingOn2 жыл бұрын
The shoulder was probably the toughest. It did not hurt as bad for as long as a knee replacement but it just took so long to progress and heal. But overall pain would be the knee. It took 5 weeks to hit the turning point while the hip hurts about as bad but It did not last as long. About 2 weeks to hit that turning point with the hip.

I was trying to remember when my doc said I could submerge my knee. I want to say it as at 12 weeks. I am sure all docs are different too on that. But I cannot remember exactly when they told me. :) The way they sew and glue them up it seems like it would be waterproof right from the start but I was so afraid of infection I would not try anything. :) Hope you are doing well.

@@GaryForgingOn oh ok.... Well I'm at 35 days of H*LL..... I'm still having pain.. Burning...tender ... Sensitive when the blankets touch it...numbness... Feels like tight duct tape is around my knee... Still a little swelling ... I HATE going to PT... I'm afraid they gonna break my 60yr old bones when they are trying to bend my leg.. 😭😭... Thanks for the reply!!!!

@@LeLo-dg4iy I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. I remember how much it hurt and I had to stay on pain meds for almost 5 weeks. And the pain didn't go away. Just got more tolerable I guess. The swelling will take a lot longer on the knees. The numbness is still there but I can deal with it. PT hurts a lot but it will help in the long run. Hang in there. I hope pray you get some relief soon. Take care.
