That first fish u caught at the 3rd spillway is actually a hibrid bass between white bass/ sand bass and striped bass people call it a whiper or a palmetto bass. the other fish that looks the same but is smaller is actually a really big white/sand bass

Nick, love your videos and adventures! Couple of things I'd like to suggest you try. First off, I'd like to recommend you using some of those Bluegill and Sunfish as live bait. The biggest Channel Cats, Largemouth, Northern Pike, and Tiger Muskies that I've caught were on live bluegill. I'm 43 and I've been fishing since I could walk. Try using a large hook and heavy line as well as heavy tackle. Probably what you use on your catfish rig would be sufficient. Thread the hook and line twice through under the bluegills - Sunfishes Dorsal fin. Use a large bobber or float above of course and hold on tight. I think it would work wonders at those spillways, especially the ones that you catch the Bluegills - Sunfish at as those are likely what any large gamfish in there feed on. There's also crank baits, swimbaits, and jerk baits with a bluegill pattern. Classic lures like the White Curly Tailed Grub jig always produce, but the best way to catch fish is to match the hatch and just like fly fishing the same applies to your lures. The most successful anglers, (KVD) for example do this at every event and will even paint their lures to match when necessary. Wish I could show you the Brown trout I've caught this season so far here in upstate NY on jerk baits. Just released one yesterday 6 lbs and 22". Don't be affraid of using big baits - Bluegills either. Many predatory fish will only feed on large baits as they don't want to expend too much energy for their meals and would rather eat less often. Jerk baits in trout waters will have you addicted real fast! Last but certainly not least, tight lines brother, keep doing your thing, and thanks for sharing! :)

@ShellyAnn1a3 жыл бұрын
Just spent the afternoon and evening watching your fishing videos. Out here in the west we have trout, steelhead (a big sea run rainbow trout), and a couple of salmon species. Then we have the invasive bass and bream species. Of course we have the off shore fishing for anything that lives in the temperate waters of the eastern Pacific, which includes 18 shark species (from the small 8 inch catshark to the 40 feet long, basking sharks) , the sea run steelhead, Chinook, silvers, halibut, flounder and a bunch of others. My last fishing trip to the coast, I was after Dungeness crab near the mouth of the Siuslaw River. While my traps soaked, I threw my line out with some clam necks as bait. The first fish I caught was a blue shark (up to 10 ft. long.), about 30 inches long, that was inside the river mouth feeding. I caught three of them that day the largest was about 40 inches long. Not the easiest to reel in while on the fishing dock, about 8+/- feet (up and over the railing) above the high tide mark Did not catch any pink-eared sea perch, lost three hook sets and only got one keeper crab around midnight as I was pulling in my traps getting ready to drive the nearly 100 miles home. Watching your videos makes me want to get out and do another fishing trip over to the coast. Thank you for sharing your fishing adventures. Oh, my biggest catch weighed in at 94.5 pounds and was 6' 4" long, was about three miles off shore using a herring filet and drift fishing in about 70 feet of water. It took me all of 45 minutes to reel it in and landed.
