We catch those accidentally when bass fishing in Arkansas. I've caught a nine pounder and a fourteen pounder. I only fish artificials for bass and those bowfin will destroy a lure or spinner bait. They just turn it into broken plastic and twisted wire.

Agreed, pretty sure that was a snakehead, the pattern and black dot with colored ring around it on the tail as a giveaway. Highly invasive, that guy cubed up would actually make for more good bowfin bait!

It's a bowfin.. snakehead mouths are different.
