This! Yes it almost has some Mangini era style to it but Portnoy’s power and signature is ALL OVER it. It’s almost like an “evolved” dream theater song.

This is THE SHIT! Forget about the signature drumming, and let's acknowledge the vocal lines MP wrote together with James and JP...the harmonic structure of the chorus is insanely good.
@dontcareisaidit21 күн бұрын
I swear this band is far more melodic than people give them credit for. They go hard, but it seems like they really try to take you on melodic journeys than 'for the sake of brutality and all things heavy' like other greats focused on.
@FyreofShadow21 күн бұрын
Songs like Learning to Live are the perfect example of that, honestly. It's writing for the sake of the music instead of writing for the sake of getting a reaction out of a crowd.

Prog metal and power/symphonic metal tend to be really good at telling stories and taking you on adventures, and DT definitely pulls from symphonic metal and are very prog

They’re not even coming to the part of town where I’m at after their European leg, so I might have to be heading over to Vegas to catch them when they get stateside. I am not going to miss this tour. That was outstanding Samus!!…

These guys never stop ! Reinventing themselve for decades and always delivering a masterpiece. I'm in.......can wait for the entire album! Thx for the video!
@SuperballBG19 күн бұрын
I wouldn't say this song is exactly an example of them reinventing themselves to be honest. I was hoping for a little bit more innovation with regards to the drum parts. I guess this one was somewhat more interesting in that aspect compared to Night Terror. Will have to see what the rest of the album sounds like though. These two singles could prove to be the "weakest" songs of them all.

MP is front and centre on both tracks we have heard so far! Making a point of being BACK. I'm a guitarist...but this is drums and more drums and really taking up a lot of space in the song - all of it sounds decent so far - so cool to see this lineup back, almost the same one I saw in 91 in the UK!

Then I'd ask him about making this visualizer, since I'm pretty sure it's depicting WWI and I'm very curious about the concept of this album.
