Constant leaks, constant new gremlins . . . this is why people make the leap to LS and other modern engine swaps. It's not just the engine, it's many of the supporting accessories that get modernized. You were smart to go LS/T56 on the Camaro so many years ago. I finished my second rebuild of my olds 403 in 2013, got it kind of sorted by 2015, and then fell behind on new issues ever since then. But it's not just the more modern drivetrain. It's hard working around someone else's shortcuts too. It looks like you're getting close, looking forward to seeing the Mustang get to a track-able state!

This felt all too familiar. The only thing that solved my power steering leak was removing the hydroboost and going to manual brakes. I can only assume your car is not running a hydroboost so definitely frustrating. There is always a shinning light somewhere so just remember to enjoy gaining knowledge during these times because that’s what kept me motivated the last couple years. I now know how to make brake lines, which I never knew before. Little things like that make these builds worthwhile even when everything seems to be going south. Your KZbin quality is top notch btw, always enjoy these videos!

Have you tried banjo fittings for the steering rack? That would give you more clearance to the oil pan.

That’s the carburetor life. The engine only runs perfectly for the conditions of the day you tuned it. Have you seen the new Tremec TKX? Looks like you’re running a TKO? I went to a hydraulic clutch, it’s pretty easy to do the conversion. Don’t give up, I came to the channel because of your mustang. Stay motivated
@AutoXandTrack3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t seen the TKX. This is a T3550 which is what became the TKO and later they came out with the TKO-500 and 600. I’m not giving up. I didn’t want to upload this video until I knew things were getting better. And they have. If I am able to recover all the footage off the hat drive my kid just broke tonight I should have another Mustang video up really soon.

@@AutoXandTrack Keep it coming brother. Once you get that car sorted it has the potential to be a great track car. Light weight and plenty of power. I've got the new TKX in my 67. I was going to go with a T56 but a Tremec dealer came into the shop and offered me a TKX at 50% off because Tremec wants to showcase this new trans in cars like ours. All 5 gears have usable ratios but I don't really have an overdrive highway gear. Another bonus is it only weighs 90lbs which I think was about 30lbs lighter than the T56. Thanks for the reply.

When you showed the clutch cable that was fraying it made me wonder if that’s causing the clutch slippage?
@AutoXandTrack3 жыл бұрын
It was the fork slipping off the ball and not letting the pressure plate release. When I took the trans out it was sitting that way.
@eliembree46373 жыл бұрын
Banjo fittings and copper washers look like they would free up space between the rack and the oil pan.

Looks like you need 90 deg fittings on the rack and straight fittings on the hoses

Engine oil leak is most likely the end seal on the intake. Don't use the cork or rubber end seals just use RTV.
@AutoXandTrack3 жыл бұрын
I didn’t. It’s totally dry behind the intake. I now believe it to be the oil pan seal between the rear cap and pan. I dabbed the corners but not the main curved part of the seal.
@jimm82643 жыл бұрын
@@AutoXandTrack Did you use the one piece oil pan gasket?
@AutoXandTrack3 жыл бұрын
I did. Funny enough I used the same gasket and silicone with this motor before and it didn’t leak. During suspension mock-up we pulled the pan off so I had to put a new gasket on.

Looks like the fitting will touch your oil pan and engine movement and vibrations might make it leak again maybe find a Short radius 90 degree fitting

Because a 1967 Ford Mustang never came from the factory with either a 3-link rear suspension or a rack-and-pinion steering, it seems a bit unfair to blame the Ford or Mustang name.
@AutoXandTrack3 жыл бұрын
The frustration is genuine but it being because it’s a Ford is all tongue-in-cheek. Sort of like how I’m blaming today’s dislocated shoulder and nerve damage on the Mustang. I was supposed to test on it this Sunday but it must have got mad at me for the Ford comments. 🤣 and 😭

@@AutoXandTrack snowboarding, wow must be nice. Did you go to mammoth or big bear? I've skied at Mammoth and Mt. biked at both. Mostly paralyzed in not good, I hope that gets better soon. I have a 67 mustang that I autoxed 20 some odd years ago in SCCA SFR, couldn't get close to a newer Camaro with the 1LE option or turbo surpra but it was fun and I like working on my car. Interested to see how the mustang progresses. I wish I had a TCI 3-link for the rear but I don't so I'll just have to watch you, so thanks for the great content.
