This video is SOO relatable, ps1 used to be revolutionary but now 20 odd years later they are actually revolutionary, you only need to look at the first tomb raider and the reboot that came out in 2013 to see that
@Gamer883347 жыл бұрын
Some people just need to remember that we didn't have the tech to make the powerful consoles we have today, so the PS1 was revolutionary when it came out. Not many consoles could handle games like it could. They probably were inspired to give making, and advertising for, the PS1 their all partly as revenge for Nintendo ditching Sony and making the mistake of partnering with Phillips. I don't judge games I haven't played, but I'm not going to play THOSE games. PS2 still holds the record of most units sold though. I think.

Here's one whose "baby pictures" are nearly unrecognizable: Dynasty Warriors. The series started on PSOne, but it was originally a fighting game like Soul Edge or Tekken. It had a tiny roster, arenas, all the usual suspects. Then when the PS2 came along, it was turned into the 1 vs. 1000 beat-em-up juggernaut we all know today, soon to become an open-world pick-your-battles game. It has gorgeous graphics nowadays, and character rosters bigger than most fighting games could dream. Maybe it's not as high-profile as FF, MGS, or PES (you do tend to stick to the same games a lot, Rob), but it's definitely undergone some serious changes since it was introduced to the gaming world.

Mortal Kombat, it was revolutionary then because of the use of real persons for the characters in game, it is revolutionary now because of the amazing story mode, x-rays, variations and complexity of the characters instead of just being a generc fighter in a fighting game, it's just beautiful and engenius!

Mine has to personally be tomb raider. i first played it through demo on one of those playstation demo disks that they used to give away and wish they still did. I was so aww struck by the graphics and the fluent game play but looking back now i see how cubed and stiff the game was. Its amazing how time can change your perspective.

Another thing I appreciate is not only games looking much better but also the idea of what a game can be has changed so much. Young me believed games were measured by how they pushed tech. It's amazing now that games are treated more like a medium of art than they were in the past. Games like everyone's go to the rapture and the silence speaks my name completely shattered my idea of gaming. And things like journey and flower destroyed my concept of what a game needs to have to be amazing. I would love to see a Friday feature about games that completely changed the concept of gaming, since there is a Tuesday checklist about games that break the rules.

I do not know if it is allowed, but Star Wars as a whole would be on my top list. I remember when my friend told me the PS2 was coming out, and him saying, "The graphics will end up looking better than this." He was referring that the graphics would be better than Shadow of the Empire. I told him he is crazy, they can never get better than the best game ever made.

Rob that black Dog is so adorable I went back and paused the video. True Story.
