7 Bodies FOUND in Creepy Abandoned Mausoleum - What Happened?

Memorial Mound opened in 1992 and was built as an underground mausoleum where family members and friends could visit their loved ones indoors and “underground.” If you never heard about the Memorial Mound, you might not even believe what happened here. The back story is disturbing to say the least. Back in 2015 a group of explorers got into the abandoned mausoleum and found 7 deceased bodies in caskets. Watch as we explore the abandoned Memorial Mound Mausoleum and tell you exactly what had happened here.

Mausoleums are designed to encapsulate a coffin while allowing fluids to properly drain without creating a smell or mess within the mausoleum. I don't know what the owner of this place was thinking, stack bodies on a shelving setup. That place must have stunk to high heaven since day one. I can't imagine how families were able to visit their loved ones with smells like that going on there. I'm equally surprised that this mausoleum, and its shelving system, even passed building code during its construction.

Sebastian Bolduc How does a person visit a loved one in a mausoleum if the person isn't there. I've had many family members placed in mausoleums, I don't go visit them because I know they are not there. And I also know, they are not gonna sit up and say "oh,hello, how're you today".

I'm having a hard time deciding whether Clyde Booth was well-meaning but poorly-planned this endeavor, or if he was a flim-flam man. I also don't know why he did not have his son's remains exhumed so that he could demonstrate his faith in his dream. I'm just glad those who were interred there were transferred to nearby cemeteries.

What’s the most creepy to me is that this place isn’t even that old. 1992? I was a preteen at the time and I’m still a young person. These are all relatively new dead bodies, not centuries old. So sad that this has happened to the remains of many peoples relatives. The infants corpse they found probably still has parents who are alive and kicking, for sure. So so sad💔

There should be no seepage for one they remove all the body fluid during the embalming process and plug up your orafaces.
@r.mcbride2837
@r.mcbride2837 3 жыл бұрын
@@alexiswaller3065 Nonsense. The human body is 60% + water. Embalming only removes blood and body cavity fluids. Those fluids are then replaced with embalming fluid - about 9 liters on average. This is done to temporarily preserve the body for things like transport or public viewings prior to burial. Emphasis on the word "temporary". Eventually, even with embalming, corpses continue to decompose and, as tissues break down, they become fluid. That fluid has to eventually go somewhere, especially if the burial site is a mausoleum crypt. This is why mausoleum crypts (decent ones) are equipped with vent holes and drainage systems which carry odors and fluids out into external waste repositories, usually the sewer systems.

I have seen a few stories now about abandoned Mausoleums. Absolutely horrific stories regarding the lack of caring for those 'left behind' in these abandonments. These videos have made me actually sit and think about mausoleums on the whole. Ultimately, and with time to think things through, it makes perfect sense that many become abandoned. I dont think this is something that has occurred before the last couple of decades. I think Law needs to be developed that will provide a legal guide to properly deal with these abandonments thus preventing situations such as these. Perhaps humans have reached a point where mausoleums are no longer a feasible end of life option.

Not sure if it's the same everywhere, but the cemetery we buried my father in required a cement vault to be put in the ground and the casket is placed inside of it since caskets alone don't protect a body for very long. This place when in operation must have had a faintly foul smell to it. This design with Costco-type racks for permanent entombment was insane. This kind of thing will always continue to happen when you have lazy states that don't do their job in the first place by properly inspecting. Especially when a place is abandoned. There is supposed to be paperwork and state regulations and state inspections to prevent this very thing from happening. The state should pay for all the bodies to be properly buried now. Due to the state's total criminal negligence. And of course the previous owner should be also in prison. Being charged for criminal gross negligence. I know if I was a family member of one of the deceased left there to rot I would be suing the state and the previous owner of the establishment.

This was poorly designed in the first place. Mausoleums are vented to stop the build up of foul odours, this could not be vented. Did the designer not think that BOTH bodies and coffins rot? making the racking system unsuitable.

It's a good idea but not enough planning went into this and each crypt should have been enclosed with some sort of drainage per crypt. The moisture was an issue too. I wonder if the owner ran out of money or this was the design? How did this pass City and County Codes?

That's not a mausoleum that's a storage unit. How did the state approve that set up? A rack behind a flimsly wall and a curtain? I guess I don't know the laws surrounding mausoleums if that was approved by the mortuary associations of the state. Were they lying to the families? Or did they know they were just sticking their loved ones on a shelf?

It truly astounds me that this can and does occur, a total lack of any level of government control or oversight. So where is the safety net for the deceased and their family’s when the owner of this facility decides for whatever reason they want out. It most certainly should not be allowed to occur. I am glad I live in Australia where there are strict guidelines for cemetery operation ‘s so this scenario will not be allowed to occur.
