when i was a kid my dad would pirate the sims 3 onto my computer for me. i was always confused, being like 7 or 8 at the time and not knowing it was cracked, as to why i couldn't upload pictures to the sims 3 website from my launcher, because the game came with a code that you needed to register onto the website. so of course, i asked people where i could find this code, and they were just like, "buy the game" and little me was SO confused because i was like... but i HAVE the game???

It's back to normal if you restart the game and only ever does it if you decide to give up your soul again for some reason... In a Pirated copy, the start theme will always play in reverse no matter what, and the main difference being that it's way more distorted and it has a darker tone to the music. That ain't the only thing different about the main game however

Maybe if AAA games weren't released unfinished at full price (many times not even optimized and unplayable), with parts of the game removed to later be sold as DLC, and false advertisement all over the place, people wouldn't pirate games so often. The video game industry is a cesspool of false advertisement, scams and unethical business practices. No wonder people pirate games, in fact everyone should pirate games to try them before buying them. How many times have you payed 60 dollars for a game only to then feel scammed because the game is garbage and nothing like what was advertised? *4 months later* No. First of all let's make one thing clear, pirating is not illegally taking property that's not yours for free, Specter Knight, that's the definition of robbery which is something completely different. Pirating is obtaining/distributing a copy of something outside of the copyright permissions. That means if you're gonna buy a game as a gift you can't buy it for yourself and then give it away, as that is technically infringing copyright. If you want to give a game as a gift you gotta buy it for that person from beginning. Now this may sound shitty but that's why at first the XBox One was all for not allowing second hand sales. It's because they're technically copyright infringement. Not one company will actually enforce this legally as it's very unpopular but this is also the reason why on Steam, Origin, UPlay, etc., you can't just give out a game from your inventory once it's in your account. So the conclusion is technically if you own a game and then give it out as a gift you're pirating it.

Spyro 3 had some seriously amazing crack protection (which little me had to learn the hard way). If Zoe's message about the game being hacked wasn't enough to deter you, it would subtly remove gems and eggs, and if you were playing the PAL version, it would change languages randomly. And if you kept going long enough to reach Midnight Mountain and challenge the final boss, it did something similar to Earthbound, in that it erased all your progress, butt instead of freezing and restarting the game, it would simply return you to Sunrise Spring in a bizarre fusion of the balloon used to take you to Midday Gardens and the rocket you took to get to Midnight Mountain. And for all that it _still_ wasn't on the list?

every game can be pirated without a penalty like just taking out the code that does the shit and voala no penalties , but the code is very well hidden so you need very very very experienced hacker who has a long period of time. Most of the good hackers are white hatted tho and decide to work for the companies so they can earn more money than pirating the game itself, also the time for the black hatted once is very short too.

What you did is what I consider "white hat pirating". You pirate the game to get the sense of "Is this worth my money or not?" For your example, Minecraft was worth your money in your opinion so you bought the full game to unlock most Multiplayer servers.

to be fair though, when a game is soooo old that the company that made it doesn't even support the game anymore, and has abandoned any website made for the game, I think that's when a game should be free to download since they clearly don't support it anymore. A game that is EXACTLY like this, is Spore. EA doesn't make anymore Spore games, they don't support the website anymore, and the game's popularity has died to the point that the community is barely alive now. When a company is clearly not profiting from their game anymore cause it's not popular anymore, I think that's when it should be okay to pirate it. Or download it for free
