I like the one for Skyrim. It shows you the controls while in the moment, and the sequence of events that incorporates using the controls is very fluid, which helps it keep from feeling forced. And at the very end it shows you a big aspect of the game, which is that there are different ways to complete or overcome a task or enemy, and you can choose between your options.

What about Halo? In Halo: CE, the tutorial is disguised as post-cryosleep diagnostics. In Halo 2, it's testing that the new armor works properly, and in Halo 3 the tutorial is making sure you're ok after falling from space. All of these enhance the story, as well as teaching the player basic controls.

Used to be scared to death of the butler in Tomb Raider 2. You'd run away from him quite easily, but no matter where on Lara's estate you went, you'd soon hear the rattling of cutlery on his tray and then he would loom out of the distance. Next to Lara, who was this badass acrobatic adventurer, he was this crusty old man who followed her around very much like how the spectre of death is constantly following everyone of us throughout our finite lives on this planet. Plus I think he farted on occasion. Can't start farting. Especially in front of a lady.

I think the tutorial for Fallout 3 has got to be one of my favorites. But, my most favorite tutorial was from the first Fable. It was long. But, it gave the chance to get attached to your character and the world before you even really set out in it. It also provided a real preview for the different styles of play. And, drove home the core appeal which was weighing out a moral choice, and understanding that there is consequence for all actions. As a bonus, getting good at the tutorial would lead to starting off a character in a better position. By the time I finished the tutorial I already knew where I wanted to take my character. And, I felt confident that I had all the per-requisite knowledge to craft my character progression. Which made the first few hours mostly about discovering fun and interesting things. Instead of still finding my footing.

NYESSSS I'v never played SR1 because I've never owned an Xbox. I'm very aware the series started out more serious (although, 2 had more than it's fair share of humor as well) The fact still remains, that's not what is now. Now it has it's own identiy. Now it stands out. I dont want a reboot to make it blend in with genre better. I want the most over the top shit they can think of. I'm not saying people that like the earlier games more are wrong in their opinion but I dont understand that opinion.
@redwind18o9 жыл бұрын
Yeah it stands out as a shitty game series now
@southparkkenny29 жыл бұрын
Kenny_Cartman One thing that made SR2 better than SR3 & 4 was the fact that the characters were human, they actually knew when they were outnumbered and they knew their limits, they still did batshit near lethal stuff, but in SR2 their survival was believable. For example: in SR2 there is a part where Johnny Gat is impaled through the abdomen by Jynichi, it takes him most of the Ronin's story arch for him to heal. while in SR3 there was the whole scene where the boss is smashing through plane windshields and shooting while still falling vertically. SR2 had easier characters to like as well, Carlos played a minor role in the game yet was one of the most well remembered characters in the series. SR2's side missions were funnier as well, Septic Avenger had you spraying literal shit on houses to decrease the property value for the Saints to buy, while SR3 had you drive a car with a tiger in it to make the boss more confident so he could fight Killbane... even though you are still able to continue with the activity after the mission where you fight Killbane. If you haven't played SR2 you should, it also has far more customisation options than SR3 or 4.

It isn't specifically stated as a tutorial, but all through the main story of Pokemon Conquest, you keep being given new information on everything from type matchup to items to battle abilities and so on. Many people consider the entire main plot to be the tutorial, which would make the 30+ postgame plots the real meat of the game. Plus they give you an opportunity to play as the main villain and all of his main generals. Not in a "he joins you and you occasionally get to boss him around" way, but you get him as the actual central character for an entire story.

That's interesting, it seems most people prefer 4. I have stopped playing 4 recently after installing loads of mods. They sort of make the game seem less genuine. I might uninstall them and continue.

fallout 4 is what GTA 4 was to San Andreas the latter exceeded expectations the prior a glossy trial for a future next gen project.

TehObLiVioUs that magic... is it like... you have no idea what will happen, or how it will happen, you have no idea what's out there, or what you can do, and there's a strong sense of mystery and adventure if that's what it's like, i used to have that magic with Skyrim, haha, but unfortunately it's worn away with time

Sam Cook Definitely the best. The atmosphere of the town was perfect at lulling you into comfort, the Organization being introduced was great, the tournament was really fun, that characters they introduced were all very likeable, and the fact that they tore it all down and exposed it as a fraud before they throw you into the real game was genius.
@toongrowner19 жыл бұрын
Sam Cook For me it was kinda annoying, even the first time I played, for a moment I was even worried that no disney character will show up, and it will only be the roxas guy.... it has some nice atmosphere and stuff, and I really like the towns kids, but the tutorial is way to long, and now with the senseless extra battle with Roxas in the final mix version.... I kinda started to freakin hate roxas... -_-

4. You could also lock the butler in the secret passageway. Locking him away was one of the first things I did, since more than once he nearly scared the crap out of me, sneaking up while I was exploring. Shooting him later was rather satisfying, lol.

I'd say another good one is the first No One Lives Forever. You can't go wrong with a tongue in cheek section where you're told how to skip cutscenes and severalo instances where you get to try out any newly introduced gadgets.

I remember in Fall of Cybertron the prologue was also the tutorial where you played as Bumblebee on the Arx as it was assaulted by the Decepticons in their war ship the Nemesis and you would learn what the controls were as you needed to perform the actions. Like looking at a floating drone so Ratchet can make sure you're okay, shooting Decepticons, jumping or gaps and driving to Optimus to save him from Megatron. It's all also en media res so you know shits going down hard later.
