I had to take a step back in my last relationship and really evaluate it. It was nice he was a doctor but he had free time when he wanted it and he did make time for me sometimes. I did not expect him to spend it all with me. However, when it came to be the holidays and he had plans with everyone else but me for Christmas and New Years Eve and no intention of introducing me after having been together for so long, and then he gave me the heads up about needing to crack down to make up for lost time with his work because he had been wasting time doing things on his own for a couple weeks. He told me he had to see patients and write reports after the holidays so he wasn't sure when we could see each other. That was it for me. I wasn't on his mind or even on his "To Do" list. I was very polite. I was just simply done. That didn't work for me. Vivienne hit the nail on the head with every point. If a man really wants to be with you, no matter how much work he has to do, no matter the distance, he will find a way. He will also find ways to make sure you're included and show you off. He will if he is really sure about you, introduce you to his family and inner circle, not make excuses about why he isn't. He will be ready to fight any prejudices he anticipates they may have and will stand up for you if need be. This guy showed me off to his work friends and neighbor and some peripheral friends but not the inner circle or family. He always had an excuse and some bar that kept being raised I had to meet and a moving goal post for me to reach before that could happen and I felt like I was setting my own goals and reaching them and I didn't need someone else evaluating my life and apparently looking down on me. He tried a feeble attempt to reach out but I wasn't interested. I'm just not in a hurry to get into another one. I'm not going to hold that experience against all men either. It's just not my time yet. I'm working on myself and enjoying my singlehood. It gives me freedom.

If anyone looks down on you, you shouldn’t change what you’re doing, you should replace them with better ones who are proud of & supports you! Actually, it should be the other way around..you should make sure HE reaches YOUR standards, not you meeting his! Maybe both of you have different ideas of the type partner he or you wants, clearly then you both are not compatible. Yeahh better not to generalist all men because not all men are like that. Search for successful couples who have made it & learn from them. :)

I think if a man isn't nowhere near asking you to marry him after two years together, he either doesn't want to commit or doesn't want a stable future with you...same with the engagement, if he's not ready to marry you after three years of engagement and there are no problems (work, career, money ecc) it's the same, he might not really see a future with you even if he loves you. Both my grandparents sets had great marriages, not perfect of course, but they worked hard to make everything work and both my grandfathers told me they were immediately smitten by my grandmothers and knew within 6 month they wanted to marry them: the both had 60 years of happy marriages and told me to never settle for someone I love but it's insecure or didn't even had the guts to ask you out first because it's a sign he's not mature or doesn't want to commit or doesn't want a future with you. They told me a lady never needs to chase a man or to keep him entertained and doesn't need to give him husband benefits before the marriage: a man knows what he wants and will pursue it and fight to keep you by his side if he's serious and he's more than willing to wait for marriage if he loves you.

There's nothing wrong in wanting to keep things fun and discovering something new about ourselves and our partners, but if we constantly need to keep them entertained in order for them to remain by our side, I personally think they aren't that interesed in the first place: it would be different if they told us they want to do something new, fun and exciting for both of us and to keep the relationship interesting, but wanting us to always be "fun" isn't exactly a sign of maturity and reliability

Are we the kind of woman that HE wants & needs?? We can’t just blame them for everything. If we want others to change, then we must change first. Raise your standards. Have strict boundaries.
