I decided to get my UFO’s finished last year. Still working on them, I have to say. The approachI took was to pick one no matter how long it would take me to finish it, do it and then pick another one. My plan is to finish the quilt tops and then get them actually quilted. Right now I have 8 finished tops and I also have the backings ready too. I am making progress. Lol.

Great quilt. I'm just seeing this video! My mom prefers rounded corners because they don't have corners that "poke you in the eyes" while you sleep. Pretty funny, but she has said that forever. I've not made any rounded corners, but maybe I will on my next quilt. Great inspiration.

Hi Tracy. I just your channel and am enjoying it. One comment on UFOs. I have my fair share of them. I do get them out from time to time. I have finished a few. But sometimes I am just bored with it, it doesn't thrill me anymore. Whatever. So I have given myself permission not to finish. I have taken them to my guilds rummage sale often. One time a group of my quilt friends did a UFO exchange. The projects I thought were boring some friends loved. And vice versa! Thanks, Vicki G.

I am even going to list them on my white board in my sewing room, because I will need reminde again & again. Off to drag them out of their hiding places. Where are those darn sticky notes...I just had? 😂 Girlfriend, you know how much I love your white free motion blocks on the one you just finished is beautiful. As always, very good advice. I believe I have about 10 UFOs, not all quilting either. I have one quilt I started in 2014, it is partially quilted. I made a label for it with a finished date of 2022, so I can motivate my self to get it done this year. Wish there was a way to share our projects with you. Well, I have about 4 or 5 UFO’s, too. Before I attempt to finish them, I am still trying to organizing my scraps into workable pre cuts. I am making progress, but I still have bags of fabric that need to be done. I do know when I complete all my scraps, that any future scrap will only add to my stash as I cut them as I go. H.O.P.E. - you have given me. I am probably 3/4 way through the tunnel but I am seeing the light and the benefit of your process. Keep inspiring us with your view, shortcuts, and tips and tricks. About 10 finished tops, about 10 cut out, five which I still need black fabric to finish them. All need batting/wadding as well to finish. Then ran out of money to purchase the black fabric. My sisters visited about 2 months ago, and I showed them what I had been sewing. They then picked out some tops they liked, and I set about making backings for the quilts with the names of their grandchildren on them. So I might just leave most as a finished top, so requests for names can be accommodated. Once all grandchildren get a quilt I can them just finish whats left into a finished quilt.Love how the expanded quilt turned out and your number system. It suddenly felt like you only had 4 to go instead of five. Good for motivation.

You crack me up Tracy!!!!!! 🤣 Uh, yeah, as you probably know I have plenty of quilt top UFOs - all in the same state of doneness (most are PL quilts)! However, those are currently on the back burner (long offline story, if you’re interested), but I do need to get both my grandsons' quilt tops sandwiched, quilted and bound. Their matching pillow cases were made and finished earlier this week, as well as my ironing table/station constructed and finished. Came out great!!! My first quilt: a Jelly Roll Race Quilt with matching Euro-size pillow sham covers are upstairs that need quilting and batting - the binding is ready to go. (Friends are driving out from NC next month, so I may hand it off to them to quilt on their longarm.) My guess: about 16 to 18 quilt top UFOs, including the PL quilt tops. I had to laugh when you brought out your UFO’s - I also use the Dollar Tree plastic bins (I use blue and green ones in my sewing room. 😊) to store my future fabric projects! BTW: Your quilt came out great!!!! LOVE the rounded corners and the design you used to make the quilt top bigger. Looks like it was part of the original plan. GORGEOUS!!!! 🥰 You have been a very busy 🐝.

And I'm not sure if it's due to rose ice tried to watch n learn from ( the way they teach or is it just me. I think I'm over thinking it so loosen up try another video.. no go! Do I need a hands on teacher who knows lol it just SEAMS to be a lil snap of info I'm missing to make it click.. at least I hope that's all it is. I'm really good at understanding directions. Especially when there's a visual. And typically this brain grasps it and wants to show me a diff way, easier way, or simply my spin on it.. you know what I mean a idea suddenly jumps out at you n you have to try it. What ever it might be this one has me in the dark. I'm befuddled that I'm lost in this technique. What do you think.. are you up for it, have time or maybe you've covered it and are understandably cruising along to new exciting things. I can appreciate that either way. 😉 Have a great evening Tracy see you on the flip side😊 Kathleen

I don’t have a quilty friend. I’m 35 and don’t know any other quilters or anyone my age interested in this hobby. 😭

This makes me sad! Are you near a quilt guild or a quilt shop that offers open sewing? I hope you find someone!
@kristenhills2 жыл бұрын
@@SewtheDistance oh my gosh you are so kind to take the time to write me! I don’t know how to find a guild near me. I do have a local quilt shop near me, maybe I can talk to the owner/cashier and ask for some advice on how to meet quilty friends 💕

So why do we end up with so many UFO's in the first place? Why don't we start and FINISH a project before starting a new one? We need a video on how to not have UFO's in the first place! Lol!... and ideas to prevent us from continually starting a new one, again and again.

I’d like to suggest one more step: donate those projects that just don’t hold interest anymore. There shouldn’t be any shame in that.

Step #1 I can't do. My table isn't big enough. LOL Funny but not funny - I have that many UFOs, partly because I adopt other people's UFOs as my own. Bad habit, I know.

Oh Virginia - collecting other’s UFOs! Oh my! Lol 😂

Soooo I have 27 quilt tops that need to have backings made, sandwiched and quilted. I ALWAYS make my binding for every quilt top while I'm piecing the top. Wishing I could find a quilting buddy who loves to make backings and quilt so I can just make tops and bind the quilts. Anyone out there?!😂😂😂😂
