It's sad that back 30 years ago there was the s-10 that had the 4.3 v6 and it got the same mpg as today's complicated engines and also would last 200,000-500,000 miles.

230k on my 2000 S10 ZR2 and still going strong. 2005 is the cut off point for any quality in GM products.

my 91 s15 sitting outside with 250k still haven't spent more than $25k including original purchase price, less than 3klb, more than 200hp, gets 16mpg

I think the engine size and options instead of just the inline 4 cylinder they should have kept the 3.6 liter V6 also. Plus maybe the price a little bit compared to a full sized pick up truck.

Interesting. The #1 was pricing but that's usually what people liked, being that it was cheaper than the Toyota and Ford offering even similar trims were compared.

Yes all of this matters... But IMO: 1) the 2.7 is not more efficient than the 3.6 V6. The last generation got better fuel economy. Not mentioning the 2.8 Duramax that gets WAY better fuel economy. 2) There are simple options missing... Like power sliding rear window... Or even a HomeLink system. 3) I am not buying another one due to the missing baby Duramax engine.

Well hell....You just talked me into keeping my trusty '05 Colorado Z71 4X4 LS with it five-cylinder engine which I purchased used in 2019 with just over 200,000 miles on the clock and is now approaching 300,000. I get MPG that nobody believes, and it takes me where I need to go and gets me back home every time. It's paid for....So why should I trade "up" just so I could have a payment that would probably exceed the one The Lovely Bride and I pay each month on our three-bedroom home on two acres of land? Can't think of a good reason....

I'll never buy an EV so not a factor, but very disappointed they did away with the V6, I currently own a 2019 and enjoy it but may be the last one I buy if this is the direction they go.

The 4 banger is not fuel efficient. The V6 got better fuel efficiency. Seems there is not many technical folks in management. GM is dropping the ball. No development vision! GM clearly needs new leadership with clear vision. GM balled out once by us. They are going to need it again. Look around, very few of there vehicles are desirable.

Problem 1 if the vehicle gets 50mpg over standard 20 but it costs 4x more it's not more efficient. Problem 2 somebody tell Gm 40k is not reasonable for a truck when it has the same features as a truck offer 20 years ago for 15k. Problem 3 with Mary barro at the helm of Gm it sure looks like the lack of options is more like a woman telling a man what he's going to buy. And lastly when I open the hood I expect to see an engine not 5k worth of plastic covers, they could significantly lower the cost of vehicles by getting rid of the bs, I want a simple truck with ac and a radio, something I can haul trash to the dump with, something I can access the front of the bed without a step ladder. Bring back the simple concept of a first gen s10.

And here I figured everybody would want to spend 50k on a vehicle made with the absolute cheapest components available slapped together by poor people who don't GAF.

The Toyota also got rid of the V6, so it is now a 4 banger turbo and the new Toyotas are having engine and transmission failures. Toyota is blaming not cleaning the blocks well enough, the problem is that it is affecting both made in the US and Japan engines, so it's not dirty engines.
