I thought this story was awful. She was just being nosey. Being schizophrenic doesn't mean that woman didn't have emotions, you know? I bet she was embarrassed.
@meghan9436

Sara Gray I agree. If she was majoring in psychology, she should have known what the issue was. She was totally out of line to interfere with the woman if it was clear that she had some mental issues. Often the best response to someone who is unstable is no response at all. If you interfere or have a reaction, it could escalate the situation even more, as what happened in the story. I think she showed an astounding lack of understanding and compassion.

I was thinking that too? I am a psychology major, and as a basic rule as psychology major would surely know that if someone if having auditory or visual hallucination or is possible schizophrenic one or the worst things you can do is interact with their hallucinations? All this does is scare and confuse the individual as it becomes harder for them to distinguish between what is and is not grounded in reality, causing further distress and paranoia. Also why would it take being a psychology major to notice this? 😂

Bridget Smith so, her being stalked for years after her role in a prank in high school is justified? Sure, kids are mean in high school, and it would have been completely justified for him to tell her off in high school and report her then, but to be stalked years on end by someone after telling them “no” on multiple occasions should not be justified. He has a problem.

Everything about the first story pisses me off. From the 'im a psych major, so I pick on stuff like that' line, to the fact that their coworkers called the woman a very derogatory name, to the fact that the op, a psych student, thought it was okay, and even APPROPRIATE to ask the woman about the person she was hallucinating. If the op is a psych student, they need to drop out or grow some empathy, or in the very least some sense. You can figure out from the first page of Google that you shouldn't act like a hallucinated person is real to the person hallucinating them. If the op ends up becoming a psychologist, I have no doubt that they would only cause harm to any of their future patients.

You can ask about hallucinations. Ive asked people abt their hallucinations (what they look like, what they're doing, etc) so that I understand them better and can help them. Given, I havent even heard the first story yet so who knows if op is wrong.

@lwill8573 4 жыл бұрын
@@goodstuff4430 I was saying you aren't supposed to act as if the person they're hallucinating is real. Specifically if you aren't trained to help people who hallucinate. A lot of psych professionals don't know much when it comes to helping schizophrenia, much less a psych student who knows nothing about it but thinks they're special, like the first op.

What the person in the first story did is horrible, if you know anything about Schizophrenia (which a psychology major should). You can't recognize their hallucinations. If you do, they no longer know what's real and what's a hallucination. If you ever encounter someone struggling with Schizophrenia, respectfully say that you recognize their hallucinations exist to them but you don't see them. This helps them maintain somewhat of a normal life.

I’m a bagger at a larger chain grocery store and I haven’t had any sorta scary encounter, more sad or weird. While I was working an eight hour shift one day, towards the end of my shift an older man checked out with his two older grandchildren. Once he was done checking out and paying he just stood in front of me and stared at me, still not saying anything I asked if he needed help out. The only thing he said to me was “I just want to die, but they won’t let me” he said all of that while staring at his grandchildren maybe 15 feet away. Scared the hell out of me. It was more sad to the people I’ve told and I do agree but just felt eery and weird the way he was saying it. Haven’t seen him since. Makes me think of what could’ve happened.

The Donald story was really annoying, because the "victim" really did that to him. That sounded just like me, the akward kid that was picked on and only "joked" on, difference was that I never had even the slightest balls to ask a girl out. You know, I had a crush in high school, that I was sure was also crushing on me. She was a bit shy but had popular friends. When I found out she got a bf, I became deppressed. But like, that really sounded like me, except I wouldn't stalk or kidnap anyone.

@Stoney McStone As someone who was bullied to Don's level and beyond in High School maybe I'm a tad biased. The fact of the matter remains karma is a stone cold mistress and maybe next time she'll think twice about doing that again. Also even more importantly hopefully she'll teach her kids (when she has some) to act like decent human beings and rope them in when they act a fool.

OMG I experienced the same incident in the story of the smothering kid. I work as a teacher. I arrive at school in time but not extra early (as I live far away). One day I had some work to be done so I arrived earlier than almost everyone. I was heading upstairs when I heard something. Inside what I thought was an empty classroom were two boys one on top of the other squeezing his throat with all his strength. I rushed to get him off ( btw he was freaking strong for a ten years old and I’m that skinny teacher). The other kid was out, motionless and pale. I panicked but quickly realised he’s still breathing, got my phone out and called security (all while trying to keep the other angry child away, he was still persistent to kill the boy). It was really scary and intense, and I just can’t stop thinking about how a seven yrs old child could have died at school with no one around.

Acutally, yes, mayonnaise girl, that was some form of rare justice. However, I'm so glad I got my new headphones, so I can hear that voice in HD again, as well as my fav music 😌 Last few weeks just weren't the same after my old ones broke from over-usage. I gues I'm headphone girl then....

Don't be foolish, there are people who get away with _far_ worse things than what she did. If this form of "rare justice" exists, it's not only rare, but also very selective.

The third story with the girl and her mates who bullied the awkward guy...I don't know...are people only this mean in the US? All these stories seem to come from there. Sure, the dude was awkward and scary...but that's the reality for so many people suffering from mental issues. Pople who bully others who are seemingly awkward...are so 80s Hollywood teen movies..and narcissistic. What this story truly highlighted was the horrors of bullies who think the world of themselves. I appreciate that this girl shared her story in an honest manner and regret her actions.

@Whatlander

I went to both private and public school in the US, and the cruelest, pettiest bullies I ever encountered were rich kids. Makes it even worse that the woman telling the story thinks she's "typical." A lot of suburban kids have no idea that they grew up in a secluded bubble community that catered to them, and it leaves a person really disconnected from others. Full-on, "walk into traffic because you expect it to stop for you" disconnected. Some of her comments about how the guy dressed really sounded like the private school kids I had to deal with. As if something so arbitrary is reason enough to abuse a person. (I don't know if this is the case outside the US, but "white flight" was a whole thing here in the 50s; lots of wealthy, racist families moved out of the cities and into suburbs to avoid integration. *Not saying the woman in the story is racist,* but it's possible her parents or grandparents weren't the best role models.) I don't think people are only this mean in the US, but there is a very specific culture to many American suburbs, and it's not great.

Most 'rich' kids in the US aren't rich, they're just showing off with material "wealth" and are really just insular and stupid. However, it does depend on how the child grew up. Most kids who's parents worked hard to earn their wealth aren't as bad as those with families that have businesses passed down or their families were rich to begin with. It's sad to see how awful other people think those in the US are. From my experience those who are 'popular' or 'rich' in school are very insecure and have problems with their self image. True popular people are smart, funny, and/or pretty. Sometimes, people become popular for interesting reasons (like not giving a duck about hateful people's opinion, being good at something, or being very confident).

I love working at night, and have done so for over 25 years. The only trouble I've ever had, was with a kid who shot at me with a crossbow. Unfortunately he fell quite heavily when I caught him, and his crossbow was 'accidentally' smashed against a lamp post. Other than that, lovely.

I’ve been in a psych ward (multiple) and that one about the kid smothering the other kid seems iffy. Either it isn’t true or that facility is fucked. She said “I don’t know what to do” after that? She should be trained for things like that. Violent outbursts are not uncommon at all. I’ve literally never heard of a psych facility that didn’t have an isolation room/panic room whatever you call it. If it’s true I hope that kid got the help he needed.

That’s last story got to me. I remember one time I was messing around with this one guy and he was hurting me and I told him to stop. Instead of respecting my wishes it got him more excited and he wouldn’t stop so I grabbed him and threw him off of me. We we’re in a guest restroom so when I threw him he landed hard on the side of his rib cage on the side of the bath tub. He learned quickly that I could defend myself and left with a good limp…. Be careful out there… Happy safe Pride!!!

There is pursuing, then there is stalking. If a girl says no then she means it. And she especially isn't going to change her mind if you aren't respecting her wishes and scaring her. She may have been mean in highschool to him but that doesn't mean she owes him anything, she even said she is trying improving herself.

@@FluorescentPhnix1 I get that and I know what the dude did was wrong, but in a way, I actually sympathize both sides. The guy literally went as far as getting a TUXEDO just for this girl he barely knew but he tried his best to win. If that isn't determination, I dunno what is. But yeah, hopefully they don't meet and both of them get the significant others they deserve.
