Your video image was so crisp that the little 🐜 really popped out of the image as if it were live, which was scary since I'd never seen such a big one. Ohhh Olympus cameras can create such tack sharp videos too! Thank you again!

Another great video that mentions things that doesn’t get much coverage! I wasn’t aware of the disadvantage of vivid in playback so that was something I really appreciated. Some points, I did not find any errors in your suggestions, but in some cases I think there are some additional things that would make sense to mention. #1 This is actually selection, not selection for quick delete :) Once you have selected one or multiple, hit OK, then you can choose what to do with the selection: Share, Lock, Copy (if you have more than one mem card in the camera) and Erase. #2 Lock images - for single images you can just press the lock key to toggle lock status, no need to go into lock handling mode. On the EM1 family you see a blue lock icon next to the AEL/AFL button, on EM5II and EM10 family it is the Curves button. If you want to toggle the lock on multiple I agree hit OK then lock puts you in lock/unlock mode and you can scroll through them. In this scenario there is a further time saving trick, scroll with front dial and toggle on/off with back dial. I find this faster than using up/down, left/right, but that is of course a matter of taste. Another thing about locked images, they will survive Card Setup-All Erase, but not a Format, so they are pretty safe whilst in the camera. #3 multi select. If you want to use touch to select multiple photos this is a valid approach. However you don’t actually have to use the touch screen. Especially on the EM1 family this is actually a less practical approach since you in this mode can’t multi select by using the back dial. I would typically zoom out to thumbnail view, and then use the REC button, on EM1s you can multi select with the back dial as you mentioned, on the others you have to toggle each image separately. When selection is compete hit OK and select the intended action. One thing that I haven’t found is how to exit selection mode. If you deselect all selected you are it of it, but there doesn’t seem to be a quick exit of this mode. So far the only way that i have found is to hit play or half press the shutter to exit playback and hit play again.

I use the “shutter button tap” to exit everything. It may be a bad habit, but it has become muscle memory now, across all my Oly models!

Wow, I didn't know the multi-select while holding down the record button, this is a lifesaver for me, also with the touch. If I want to delete a big batch of images is a pain in the ass, click - rotate, click - rotate and do this like 1000 times... But for the locking functions, you can just click the AEL/AFL button, you also have a key as an icon there :)

Robin, I remember hearing, watching video(s) that said it is not a good idea to delete images off the card in the camera. Do you know anything about this? Also, if you mark images for deletion or lock, when you download to an editing program such as Lightroom, are the images still marked for deletion and/or still locked against editing in the software? Hey Robin, thanks a lot for these useful videos! I have learned a lot from you after recently picking up an Olympus camera. I was wondering if there is some way to set it so the camera shows instant playback on the rear LCD screen, but not in the EVF? Coming from Canon I am used to glancing at the LCD if needed after a shot to get a glimpse of how things are looking. I find the instant review showing up in the EVF very disruptive. Ideally I would want to shoot uninterrupted through the viewfinder with the option of just glancing down at the LCD if needed to make sure I'm not blowing out highlights. The only solution I have found is to turn off instant playback and just hit the playback button when needed. The problem I have with this is that I shoot one handed most of them time with my left hand occupied. The position of the playback button does not work for one handed shooting! Alternatively, is there a way to assign a different button as the playback button?

Dear Robin I have a question to you. I can not afford to by a new camera with lens so I have thought about the EM 5 MK II wich cost 799 € camera and lens 14 150 II non pro I have found that there are refublished cameras and lenses and I guess only in USA. I did not found in other country. there is an offer and is the E-M10 Mark II Two Lens Kit Black Body with 14-42mm IIR & 40-150mm f4.0-5.6 R Black Lenses (Reconditioned) $449.99 What can you tell me comparing the EM 10 MK II and EM 5 MK II. Thanks. I know that the EM 5 MK II is waterproof and the EM 10 MK II not. Thanks and waiting for your news.
@maggnet48293 жыл бұрын
Regarding the body: Take a used EM 5 MK II. It performs similar to the M 10 MK III, but has more professional options available in the menu. In regard to lenses the current kit ones are a good start and can be bought used for good prices. You might want to add a light sensitive prime lens, where anything between 15 and 25mm might be a good multi purpose choice. For purely portrait the 45mm.
@hnahler5 жыл бұрын
Tip 3 (original E-M1): I cannot see how I can share photos from the camera to my phone (initiating it on the camera). While I can (multi-)select images in preview and hit the share button, I cannot have a WiFi connection at the same time. When you enter the WiFi menu on the E-M1 and establish a connection to the OI.Share app on your phone, the camera is ‘dead’ to any input. The only thing I can do is to exit the WiFi setup which will also disable WiFi again. - Am I missing a trick here or is this function not available on the E-M1?
@maggnet48293 жыл бұрын
Like in so many other places Olympus did a poor mans implementation here. You have to mark the images for share first on the camera. Next you enable wifi on the camera and OI Share on your phone. Then wait in the main menu of OI Share until the camera is found. You'll then get a message that tells you that there are images available for share and if you want to import them or share them right away. There is no direct sending an image to a phone, just like the rest of the connectivity option are all very limited (in my oppinion they are loosing tremendous market share to mobile phones right at this point).
