The closer the chickens were raised near a sea, the higher the iodine concentration of the eggs. Same goes for beef with cattle.

I only wish I knew this years ago. I had loads of cysts & some were very large & painful. I had to get some aspirated when all they had to do was tell me to buy a little bottle of orange stuff. When I finally started taking it for other things, I noticed they disappeared ! Thesedoctors aren't helping us - we don't want to manage our symptoms, we want to be cured

Be careful of overdosing as well. Recently, my husband had a heart procedure (ablation), after which he was prescribed the drug AMIODERONE for a time. The Heart Dr never asked if he was taking any supplements and we didn't have a clue what was in the drug. He had been taking a multi-vitamin/mineral as well as Lugol's iodine drops daily so was already at peak iodine supplementation. After he was having severe constipation, our family Dr did a routine blood test showing that his thyroid gland had completely 'tanked' from the iodine overload from the Amioderone which by then he was no longer taking, so he had to go on prescription synthroid for some time. After a year, he weaned off of it and was tested to see if his own thyroid gland was able to function and luckily it returned to normal production. The amioderone almost killed him and I think it should be banned completely.

@@jenniferh7297 Normal supplementation isn't a problem. The prescription medication AMIODERONE contains 100 times the RDA of iodine and he was on it for a couple of weeks, in addition to normal supplements. It was the huge overdose from the prescription that caused the problem. The heart Dr either wasn't aware of the danger or didn't bother to monitor the meds or ask of supplement history.

Dr. Berg, I have been watching all your videos on iodine, and started your regimen. I also apply a few drops of potassium iodine on my skin to help with texture and scarring, as well as clear up some random acne cysts that appeared on my forehead recently. Within a couple of DAYS I could see a HUGE difference in my skin! The cysts went away and barely left a trace! No redness, no scarring or marks after them. The texture from fine lines, scars, oil glands and pores, as well as frown lines and the line between my brows have improved SIGNIFICANTLY! I’ve been using Tretinoin on my skin for almost three years, and it did barely anything to treat these issues. All it does is giving me a nice glow and a bit of plumpness in the skin thanks to the collagen boost, but it hasn’t “removed” any of the issues I mentioned. Iodine also seems to even out my overall skin tone (I have mild rosacea). I have so much gratitude and respect for your work and the information you share here. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Interesting that my mom has some of these symptoms, but she also has most mid-stage Alzheimer's symptoms. So I wonder if there's a relationship between iodine deficiency and cognitive decline. I know that lots of things can contribute to that, but sounds like low iodine could be one, too. Fish, seafood and eggs are great for the brain. And as it happens, they're good sources of omega 3s, choline, iodine, and essential minerals.

Important to remember that minerals come from rocks/soil. So if the minerals are not in the soil where plants are growing, or fertilizer containing those minerals is not added, those plants will NOT contain those minerals. Seafood of course will contain high iodine, because iodine is high in ocean water (I suppose as a result of dissolving salt/rocks). But eggs would depend on the chickens being fed or having access to plants that were grown in soil containing iodine or iodine in the fertilizer. All farmers need to go back to using iodine as their go-to antibiotic instead of the ones used by vets. Bacteria can NEVER develop resistance to iodine.

Just asking, but are you both protein deficient? Before I started keto, several years ago, it was normal for me to eat meat once per week and it was usually chicken. I started keto and I felt so good at first with the once per week meat, eggs about once per week and yogurt that I made (no sugar) about 3 times a week (plus of course, high fat, no sugars, grains or seed oils). I did great for about 6 months, then my hair started to fall out and my skin got super dry and, my thyroid started to fail and my TSH, went up. I added collagen in my drink, red meat and/or 5 eggs everyday. But it took me a while to figure it out. I think my hair loss was both low iodine (more meat), low thyroid, AND low building blocks of healthy hair (protein). Truthfully, i might also have been undereating because i wasnt hungry at all. Anyway, after adding daily high/moderate protein (containing both iodine and iron), my hair has grown back. But it's been a year and I had months of weird baby hairs all over that stuck up. Oh and PS, energy, mood, and sleep is soooooo much better on a higher protein, high fat diet. Just for information, I am a woman in my 40s.

I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis. My Dr has prescribed me levothyroxine 75mcg and 88mcg every other day. 7 months ago it was 125mcg and had been for years. Still my thyroid is off. I have been doing research on how I can make my symptoms better. I stumbled on your videos. I have clusters in my left breast. Had it 6 months ago and had to get a biopsy. I have to get another biopsy on my left breast Wednesday. I had to get a hysterectomy at 30, hemorrhaged and almost died. So, I ask my Dr about iodine supplements and she said that there's no iodine deficiency in America. She works for the VA so I don't believe her. We have discussed in length that I want to be as natural as possible. Yet she can't explain why I am not getting better. I do intermittent fasting and eat pescatarian diet. Help! Tired of being tired. Tired of chest pain. Tired of dealing with doctors who are not looking out for my health.

It's interesting Dr Berg because just recently I was doing a fast, I noticed that I was craving salty food in the evening. I had chicken broth, and by adding a good amount of salt the cravings vanished. I also recall telling often that when I eat rice, even in good amounts, 45 minutes to an hour max later I'd be starving like if I didn't eat anything. Possibly it is because rice binds the iodine ... mmmh ... very interesting indeed.

Iodine is a trace mineral and it is crucial that one takes it with other nutrients. Along with iodine, I also supplement with unrefined sea salt, selenium (from Brazilian nuts), whole food vit c, zinc, methylated b-complex, magnesium, unrefined raw cod liver oil ( for Vit A and D). My chronic fatigue and brain fog disappeared almost overnight once I included iodine with my stacks of supplements. Oh, patch test blows my mind because I thought that there is no way I have iodine deficiency because I've been have spiral seaweed(pre dried package) for more than a year and once I tested, 10 mins in, 囧, then I realized that pre dried seaweed doesn't have much of nutrients and replace it with salted sea kelp, lesson has learned.

Shellfish is a bottom feeder not kosher or halal.Brazil nuts are high in selenium needed by the thyroid gland.Also,or or pr labs has a special clay mud that you can mix in a glass with apple cider vinegar using a non metal spoon to put on your thyroid gland externally.Leave on for about 20 minutes then rinse off with hot water.

Nuts contain antinutrients which bind with minerals and prevent us from getting them. Also, the minerals have to be in the soil where plants grow for the plants to contain them, or fertilizer containing the minerals has to be sprayed/added to the plants while growing.

@@Jenifer_G Hello, when i took 1 tablet of sea Kelp it helped in the beginning then i didn't do nothing after the next days. The pain was going back. I searched a lot and i found on the internet that it might be the absorption of iodine. Sea Kelp is good and has some iodine but if we have a severe iodine deficiency it could be not enough and not absorpting it really well. It's not a very available iodine. I decided to buy Potassium iodide and it worked perfectly, it's been months and still does its job today. It healed my iodine deficiency :-) no pain anymore! i take 1 tablet of Potassium Iodide 150mcg per day. Also selenium can help if you have problems with the thyroid. Take these two 🙂 Something important : if you take iodine don't take it when you eat goitrogenic foods. It will block iodine.

Exercise is really important to lowering inflammation in the body. I've been strugling with Crohns for 10 years, and recently hurt my hip so couldn't run or walk for a few months. Every morning I wake up around 4am with horrific pain in my back and stomach, I can barely move. I know it's inflammation and it's getting better now I can manage regular walking. If I ever make it back to more strenuous exercise I know I can almost eradicate it.
@w1975b

Consider earthing/grounding. It's standing barefoot (or you can walk barefoot) on the grass or soil. Not asphalt or concrete, they are not good conductors. That is supposed to be the source of antioxidants for humans, not food. Do it as much as you can and it will reduce inflammation. It's not very feasible for most people, so there are products available like bedsheets, mats, etc that can be plugged into the grounding part of an electrical outlet (does NOT shock or access electricity). But also good is to cut out certain things which can cause inflammation, stop adding fuel to the fire in other words.

Very confusing 😕... first you say peanuts and pine nuts are not good for iodine, then you turn around and say nuts are good for building iodine. Then you say cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower steamed is not good for building iodine, so is it ok fully cooked? This is not adding up; how can natural food prohibit an needed element in our body?
@w1975b
@w1975b Жыл бұрын
Because plants are not food for humans, plants don't want to be eaten. So they produce antinutrients, which are all sorts of poisons to deter being eaten. Oxalates, lectins, phytates bind to minerals to keep them for the plants' use, not allow for an animal to get nutrition. But beyond preventing access to nutrients, the antinutrients cause inflammation and pain, sickness (in severe cases even death - think poke sallet that isn't "prepared" enough). Those are only a few of the antinutrients found in plants.
