Great job! A couple of comments from an ex-blacksmith if you don't mind. One, the stump has to sit perfectly flat and the anvil has to sit perfectly flat on the stump. Two, I'd rather have a perfectly flat face on the anvil than a polished one. Keep up the good work, and buy some boots! 😁

I saw a lot of times, that there is a chain in the anvil; lik in this case, can you tell me why?
@johnthemainguy90592 жыл бұрын
@@o.sz.a.2128 It stops the anvil from ringing. That noise can be very annoying after a few hours.

nice work, but I think the anvil sits too low, it looks like you were bending over while hammering. And since the surface of the anvil isn´t smooth, I would prefer something like Hammerite as paint.

I read that bar magnets stuck to the sides of the base middle and the underside of the base reduces vibration/ringing.

Should've spent more time on the base. Like making a new one. Putting a chain around in was good. One thing that you didn't do was secure the anvil to the stand

A question. Why is it very often around an anvil either a large chain or a (motorcycle) chain or the same as here wrapped around and attached to the anvil? Is there a special reason for this? I would be happy if someone could help me in this regard and give the reason provided there is a reason ...
@kdkrueger1123 жыл бұрын
it adds to the overall mass of the anvil. The more mass the better absorption of the hammer blow. The ring and rebound of the hammer on the anvil means that energy is being sent back into the hammer rather than being placed fully into the anvil or the object that you are trying to forge. This is why many people attach an anvil to something like this video did. The reality with this video, is that they would benefit from using a rubberized caulk in addition, as it creates a better connection of the anvil to the other mass, and that rubberized material will also absorb the blow rather than sending it back up to the hammer.

@@kdkrueger112 Thank you, my friend, for your clarification, it is informative and now I understand it too, since I never had to deal with this type of matter, that really interested why and why that with the heavy chain etc. again, thank you very much, it was nice of you enlighten me ... see you then
