Seriously, I’m realizing that there are a lot of women who I can relate to living this type of season of life…just not very many I know in person. Seeing other Black women who are over 40 without kids, even just online, really helps me to not feel so guilty and isolated. Organizing something like this would be a big undertaking but the seeds seem to be planted…

Solo travel is so relaxing to me because you don't have to compromise on anything do what you want, wear what you want, go where you want and talk to who ever. Its so freeing. Thank you for this perspective. However, It is always such an interesting moment when I see comments like this, not only on my content, but on any other single or childless person‘s content bc It is a perfect representative of the fact that sometimes our lived reality prevents us from being able to see what someone is really expressing when they talk about a desire that they have that’s unfulfilled. I notice people try and talk you out of wanting something or explain to you why you’re better off without it without simply acknowledging that you have a desire that is unfulfilled, and regardless of what reality might have been like had that desire been fulfilled as it stands, you don’t know what that feels like to have that satisfied and so you’re allowed to have Feelings about it. Especially in a vulnerable moment like on a solo trip during your 40th year of life where you are still single and never in your wildest dreams did you think this would be your reality. At no point, when I talk about relationships, or partnership do I also dismiss the fact that they can be challenging, especially when I talk about motherhood. In fact, I did a whole video almost 2 years ago now where I talked about the things I considered that prevented me from going forward to becoming a mother by myself. Still, to respond directly to what you’re saying…even though all marriages don’t turn out to be what we’d like for them to be, there are some people in this world that enjoy wonderful, loving partnership, and it’s perfectly fine for me as a single person to say that I would have liked to know or I would like to know what that is like. When I go on trips like this and I see couples together, I know they either got to split the bill while I pay for everything on my own, or they at least have each other to enjoy these experiences with. It’s perfectly normal for me to say I wish that I had that. When it comes to being a mom, even though there are definite challenges to raising children, to being pregnant, and not to mention how one might feel postpartum, as someone who desired motherhood in this life and will never get the chance to experience it for better or for worse unless that child has four legs and a tail lol, it is also perfectly OK for me to say “what if? What would my life have been like if I had been allowed to experience those things?” I’m never saying that the experience would be perfect or filled with nonstop joy and pleasure, I am simply voicing that I would have liked the opportunity or the choice to experience that and that goes for partnership or parenthood. Again, I appreciate your perspective, but please realize that just because someone is acknowledging their feelings about having an unfulfilled desire, it doesn’t mean they aren’t considered all other realities. In fact, it is the consideration of other possible realities that keeps those of us who have unanswered prayers and who walk alone year after year, sane.

Hi Steph. Have you ever considered wearing sexy pj's to bed? After my separation from my husband, I started wearing satin pj's to bed and walking around with a coordinating satin robe. well. despite not having children the love you have when you have animals is just as rewarding for me. my children are grown now ans I had the same dogs for 16 years. my kids knew my dogs were my children. Truest unconditional love when you have that bond with a pet. So cute how you mother them and pick them up like babies. They even have their lunch box and home made meals and go to daycare. too cute
