This a how to video , how to flush brakes on your motorcycle in my case it is a 2017 Honda Africa Twin CRF1000. This simple maintenance can add to your motorcycle performance and safety as brake fluid is losing its quality over time. Your brakes are getting heated up quite a bit on Your motorcycle so it is a good idea to perform this maintenance every couple of years. It is recommended to replace also the diaphragms on your front a rear brakes reservoir. My recommendation is always to use OEM parts whenever You can. The Brakes fluid on this particular Motorcycle is a DOT 4 . You don't need any special skills to perform this task as long as You know how to turn the wrench you should be able to do it. I have to add always watch your bleeding hoses if there is no air coming out with brake fluid as that would indicate that you have air in Your brake system. ALWAYS TEST YOUR BRAKES AFTER YOU DO ANY WORK BEFORE GOING RIDING. You want to make sure everything is in perfect order before hitting the road .
Most of the time I am getting my parts at Rocky Mountain Power House in Calgary that is also the place where I have purchased my motorcycle.

Rob in Parts is always going above and beyond to help me out with my needs and everyone is also customer oriented.

Nice video - I prefer to suck the brake fluid out the reservoir with a new turkey baster first rather than flush the old fluid back through the system.

With gravity bleeding you are not getting old fluid in the system and if you watched my video I have filled the reservoirs multiple times all old fluid is gone this way as well. Brake fluid is cheap lol

Tip: put a ty wrap for one night on the brake lever…. All the micro air will pushed out in one night and the brake is nice and tight after that.

Great video 👍. Can I just ask where you got those tank stickers from on the sides? They look really good and I'd like to get some for my bike. Thanks 👍👍

Got the sticker from one of the guys on AT FB group long time ago when I first got the bike, I would recommend browse through pictures on AT group you may be able to find it, as honestly don't remember the seller after that long

Great knowledge! Thanks!!! I think you can also speed up the process by sucking up almost all old fluid out of the container using a syringe, right? ;)

That idea of bleeding brakes is not to introduce any air i would try to avoid the seringe, as then you may get air in the system. I have been doing this way all the time and many others do as well. I am not a mechanic but i worked on cars in the past as well same procedure

Thanks. I'm going to try on mine. I overheated my rear brake and it ceased working until it cooled down. I guess the fluid needs to be changed now as it would have boiled.

Hello! For my knowledge: how much brake fluid is needed? 0,5 l DOT 4 brake fluid is enough?
@AdventureTravelandScuba
@AdventureTravelandScuba 2 жыл бұрын
If you buy the container that I show in the video that's more then enough still had some left after it was finished, but I don't remember the size of the bottle. The reservoirs are small plus whatever in brake hoses.

In the service manual description there ist only bleeded right front, nothing written about left front bleeding screw?
@AdventureTravelandScuba
@AdventureTravelandScuba 3 жыл бұрын
I am aware of that but if there is a bleeder screw I'm bleeding it what about the line that goes to the left caliper what if the air is trapped there, it will not hurt it to do it, brake fluid is cheap.
