I like the way Ike thinks, who needs mufflers? Lol. I agree, merely a recommendation not a requirement lol. Im sure your neighbors appreciate the cross cart purring like a kitten. It would be cool to make an open valve piece to the exhaust that can be opened or closed when you really want to hear all 10 thousand rpms in a less populated area. Also if the fuel tank does get too warm near the exhaust you could always make risers on the base and attach it to the chassis to get it above the mufflers. I don't think it will be necessary but something you should definitely check periodically during longer periods of testing ;) Awesome build, probably my favorite so far.

Back pressure only helps 2 stokes since the exhaust is open during the start of the compression cycle. With a 4-stroke engine, the valves are all shut during the compression stroke, so you don't need any external pressure to get good compression - the cylinder is effectively sealed. What may have helped is the header you made going into the muffler, a good header will create a vacuum in adjacent cylinders to "suck" the exhaust out so it doesn't need to work so hard to expel the exhaust.

Maybe tying two cylinders together is having an extractor effect? Several different tuners built four into two headers, four into ones( I think those had the best top end but weren't strong out of the hole). Isaac, you said a mouthful- many things were changed at one time. The CB 750 stock came with a two into one on each side, with no crossover, so I;, tempted to think the stock carbs want a good go through and a try- the factory handbooks had the start settings for the adjustment screws. Wow- it lit up and went stealthy! If you leave it not running for any period, I'd be sure to drain any moisture that gets in the pipes out- your mufflers are higher than your exhaust ports.FR
@poopyhead83585 жыл бұрын
Not gonna lie that kart looks awesome in white and black great choice of color scheme
@angryclown19905 жыл бұрын
I hope this helps: Internal combustion engines do not need back pressure in the exhaust. Back pressure is litteraly the opposite of what you want. An IC Engine is an air pump, the more air it can move, the more power it makes. If there is back pressure in the exhaust, that means the exhaust is not efficient. High performance exhaust systems REDUCE back pressure. Why do you think engines make max hp through open headers? Race cars don't have mufflers and have as few bends in the system as possible to eliminate back pressure. The reason mufflers help small engines run better (when they aren't modified) is because they are designed to add a scavenging effect. The double wall pipes, the inside design of the muffler, and the shape all work to create a vacuum that pulls more exhaust out of the cylinder, keeping the plugs cleaner and making more room for fresh fuel/air mixture. Ever seen an H or Xpipe crossover on full sized car exhaust? Same reason, it's to create that scavenging effect. You NEVER want the exhaust gasses to be backed up, restricted, or moving toward the engine. You always want every bit of the exhaust to move out of the engine and away from it as quickly as possible. And no, diesel engines don't need back pressure either. They may use compression to ignite, but they are still IC engines. Engines DO NOT need back pressure.

Last and final attempt used a heated u.s. cleaner and engine now runs perfect.
