I get it! It's a toe in the water of a possible future VW direction. Nimble, quick, able to design and build at Chinese speed rather than traditional German speed. If it's successful I suspect we'll see this as one of many many future VW-China JV's to get cars to market faster and cheaper than before since the old way of doing things clearly isn't working for them anymore... And not just for audi but VW, just as the Scout-Rivian deal will hopefully benefit both parties too!

After test-driving several EVs here in Xiamen yesterday and talking to disappointed people who've had an EV for some time... I've come to the conclusion that they aren't really worth it... Another interesting thing happening here is that even luxury brands have to lower their prices now because of EV popularity... You can now get an Audi A3 or a Mercedes A-class for €18-19K here in China. And that's what I'm gonna do...give EVs 10 more years 👻

Call it SAIC/AUDI, Show the 4 Rings with the SAIC logo, but do not take away the 4 Rings and plaster some cheap looking font on the front of the car and call it an AUDI. SAIC is no light weight and makes some serious cars!!! It being a player in the automotive industry from before the 2nd World War If it's a joint venture then it should be reflected in the manufacturing and presented in the logo.

The problem are not the cars. The chinese brands dont have better evs better electric motors or inverters. Even the same battery technology is available for german brands. The reason why legacy brabds strugle in china is because chinese people now buy chinese brands like germans buy german and americans buy american brands. Its patriotism. And audi trys to create a chinese audi brand so the people in china can buy a chinese audi.

That’s a rebadged SAIC, AUDI probably needs the money bad, they had to let this happen , that’s why it doesn’t even have the real rings logo , I hope the boot is large enough,, and just as a passing note, ev manufacturers are making these vehicles way too complicated , tech is good but all people want is range and space in a solid package .

These generic looking cars for the Chinese market are soo boring. Melted chassis look, terrible steering wheel (it has to have some weird shape), no personality in the interior, just slap in a large screen and that is it. The customers will buy little trinkets from Taobao to decorate it so we don't have to. Add as many annoying warning nosies as possible (they are waking up babies so difficult to get to sleep all the time) and since there are no buttons anymore even for the commonly used functions add an annoying voice assistant to hide the fact that seat heating is in a sub menu now not on a button FFS. The Zeekr whatever vs BMW i3 video showed this well: the BMW has a character while the Chinese car could be replaced by practically any other Chinese car, they all look the same inside. Has to look good in the showrooms which are closing all around China as sales plummet and will break down in a few years anyway cause quality is not something they planned to have. Then advertise them like this "775hp..." like that matters in China where the max speed in the cities is 80km/h and there are constant traffic jams. All machines have the same speed at the red light. Also typo in the title: ""AUDI E conept Static" Conept :)

Does it matter whether it's generic or not lol. Chinese EV companies are leaving the western manufacturers in the dust when it comes to technology. Look at the sales of western automakers in china, they are free falling. They can't even make a proper EV without the help of Chinese companies.

De gustibus non est disputandum... Is a saying wrote down by the Romans, but as old as human beings. TBH, I am following Chinese EVs for a long time, and I have to say that the design work (of mostly western designers) is much more appealing against those of traditional manufacturers. When you combine it with technic, pricing & standard equipment - you have an auto-industry revolution which seemed unimaginable just few years ago!
