Thanks for your video, i always wonder how it works and now you explain it to me. Thanks a lot

This is my favorite pencil to write with, and I use it as a tool for writing many pages. I do translations by first writing the raw initial version on paper, then I go through that text with an old mechanical typewriter (the most fun part of the process), improving it as I go; then I scan the pages and use OCR to recognize the text, and do the final edit on the laptop. The Dive worked without problems for about a year, but then I accidentally forgot it between some papers, grabbed the papers on the desk and the pencil flew to the tile floor; the first time this happened. I thought that the lead just broke inside and that's it, and I managed to get it working again with the cleaning pin from another pencil. But now the manual lead advance doesn't seem to work like it should anymore. The fault seems to be with the small metal part which holds the lead, as showcased in this helpful video. I managed to get it working once more by inserting the lead from the front, that way the manual lead advance suddenly works again. No idea what's going on with it. At least I can still write, but a shame that such an overpriced product is so delicate. I wonder if I should try the Orenz Nero in 0,3 mm; perhaps that would achieve the same comfort of automatic lead advance, while the 0,3 lead would negate the need for the lead rotation. I have one in 0,5 mm, but the lack of lead rotation bothers me when writing a lot; plus I cannot even see which way to rotate the lead in my hand because of the pipe which hides the lead. I'm hesitant to try the 0,2 version, as all three regular 0,2 Orenz pencils I had were very problematic and unreliable for some reason.

Great video, I've been looking for someone to explain how the kuru toga actually works (the mechanics). The Dive has extra genius engineering combining the Kuru Toga engine and the auto lead advance into one pencil.

Thank you for the review. Could you please tell how susceptible the cutter mechanism is to accumulating dust from graphite? I use pencil frequently, so I rely on it often. How likely is it to collect dust from the graphite over time and eventually jam or break? Does it need cleaning? If so, how exactly should it be cleaned, is I dangerous?

@@ioanfaradelege6098 in my case, 3 weeks before the Lead Advance Unit fucked itself. Best design, horrible quality. You may Google for a fix solution. I just give up this pencil. I will do another video about my idea of the best pencil. Definitely not this Dive.

Could I ask you to notify me when you list it on eBay? I'd like to try to buy it. And... Cause I would like to try playing around with it, experimenting to understand what it's like. But I'm not a huge fan or a daily user to the extent that I'd spend 80 dollars on it. (I hope this didn't sound cynical. I genuinely regret that you had such an experience. I myself almost bought it for 80 dollars several times.)

@ioanfaradelege6098 OK. But still worth trying. $80, nice toy, best design pencil ever. You could be luckier than me, 4 weeks Maybe. LOL.

When you press the button does the lead rotate and does the lead sleeve rotate?
@Shanghai_Knife_Dude2 ай бұрын
on pressing the button, here is the only thing happens: lead is advanced by a fixed length regardless which level (on nib) is selected.

Kurutoga is only triggered by pressing and lifting the lead tip out of the paper. I understand your concerns fully as that was my assumption before full disassembly the bloody complicated thing.

I can no longer insert the lead from the back of the pen because when I click it, it doesnt work. If I put it in from the front, then I can click the lead forward. I think the lead advance may have been broken. Any advice? I've only had the pen for a month.

@@RyanZhao-h4y failure in Manual Lead Advance (no.1). Follow My video, and look for the thin long tube. Pay attention to the metal tip on the end of this tube. This tip connect to Lead Advance Unit by a gentle touch. If this touch was misaligned, failure as you described will occur. I knew because I met once. Totally unreliable pencil.
