If you are going to deer hunt with any subsonic load, you need to remember it will be just like bow hunting, but with a rifle. The round won't kill a deer through energy transfer, but through blood loss, just like a broad head. Make sure to choose the right bullet as bullets meant for other .338 cartridges won't expand.

Nice proof of concept I find that cartridge so damn cool that I am still after months searching for a reason to use it 😂 Best I came up with is that I really want this in my 16 inch MDRX. Or any AR-10 pattern SBR. On bolt guns… maybe in situations where you are really space constrained?

Definitely interesting but I personally cant think of any use for it. Got over subsonic stuff pretty quick with the 300bo craze. Its fun but I dont need to be quiet where I hunt and a can makes supersonic hearing safe on a lot of bolt guns. My 6.5 and 308 are both about as quite to my ear as my 300bo subsonic.

This round is brand new. It doesn't even have SAAMI specs yet. It's also an AR10 platform vs. AR15, so there's the weight of the firearm and wt and bulk per rd. of ammo to consider. 5.56 case w/ up to 220 gr. vs. 6.5CM case w/ up to 300 gr. projectile.(subsonic)

I'm definitely pumped about this round, but I'm going to need to wait a while to get a rifle chambered in it; probably not until it gets accepted by SAAMI. Played with my .300blk many times with subs. The trajectory is so poor with these slow loads that unless you know the exact ranges that you’re shooting over, it’s pretty much impossible to judge how much holdover you need. and therefore almost impossible to hit anything accurately. Good fun at the range, but not so much use in the field.
