Nice for using in the woods when you don't want to scare every single animal in a 10 mile radius.

If you are going to deer hunt with any subsonic load, you need to remember it will be just like bow hunting, but with a rifle. The round won't kill a deer through energy transfer, but through blood loss, just like a broad head. Make sure to choose the right bullet as bullets meant for other .338 cartridges won't expand.

That is almost identical style setup to my .416 subsonic rig even down to the scope mount. Mine is cut down 7mm re mag brass necked to .416 if I ever build another one I'll swap to cut down 300prc brass as it should be big enough to get a .50 in.

Nice proof of concept I find that cartridge so damn cool that I am still after months searching for a reason to use it 😂 Best I came up with is that I really want this in my 16 inch MDRX. Or any AR-10 pattern SBR. On bolt guns… maybe in situations where you are really space constrained?

Definitely interesting but I personally cant think of any use for it. Got over subsonic stuff pretty quick with the 300bo craze. Its fun but I dont need to be quiet where I hunt and a can makes supersonic hearing safe on a lot of bolt guns. My 6.5 and 308 are both about as quite to my ear as my 300bo subsonic.

@@TacticalBuffoonary around $1.10 a round with the powder I am using and converted 6.5CM Hornady cases. Not cheap. I picked up some pulled 285gr Hornady for a lot cheaper the other day so that drops the cost down quite a bit when using those ones with used brass.

This round is brand new. It doesn't even have SAAMI specs yet. It's also an AR10 platform vs. AR15, so there's the weight of the firearm and wt and bulk per rd. of ammo to consider. 5.56 case w/ up to 220 gr. vs. 6.5CM case w/ up to 300 gr. projectile.(subsonic)

Yeah I'm not sure about this round. Seems to be some novelty that give it a year and it will be gone. In reality i would choose a 308. 308 is readily available. For the same cost you can streach a 308 out to 1,200 yards with more energy on target.

I'm definitely pumped about this round, but I'm going to need to wait a while to get a rifle chambered in it; probably not until it gets accepted by SAAMI. If I can't get ammo for it regularly, it turns into a paperweight, you know? When it does get approved, I'll be all over it. Still really cool to see you stretching it out, though!

Played with my .300blk many times with subs. The trajectory is so poor with these slow loads that unless you know the exact ranges that you’re shooting over, it’s pretty much impossible to judge how much holdover you need. and therefore almost impossible to hit anything accurately. Good fun at the range, but not so much use in the field.
