Your video covered all my mistakes. You're a great teacher!

That's quite refreshing. Too many youtube videos tell you how important the high elbow catch is, but but don't mention that most beginners don't start out with sufficient latissimus strength to pull more than a few laps. If this is your new year's resolution, then you'll need to be patient.

You’re right, strength takes time! Building it takes a lot of practice.

I liken the arm pull to being in the sand box on your hands and knees. In front of you you have a big pile of sand. Behind you a meter or so is a hole. The idea is to grab a scoop of sand, scoop it hast your hips and try to fling it into the hole behind you. I do love the catch up drill, but do it with a snorkel. Recently I have heard a couple of coaches say it is worthless. Just don't understand that at all.... Best hint for body posture/position came from a Speedo coach, "Suck in your gut like you are trying to put your belly button on your spine". This engages your lower core from your belly button down. This takes the curve out of your spine.

I like the sandbox analogy - makes it easier to understand!

Good one! I have to work on the stroke timing mainly, but it is always great to rethink all things you can be doing wrong.

Maybe it would be worth it to get an instructor for one or two lessons if you’re motivated

My freestyle challenges, each accomplished in about a month during 2024: - Extend stroke up to the hips (the initial triceps pain 😅, mentioned in the video) - Flip turn without fumbling arms sideways - Breathing with one eye underwater

@@RinaAnna_Swimming You are welcome. I tried it all out today and clocked 100m SC free (no dive) at 1:28,35. I must say, as the exhaustion increased during that swim, I started making all the above mistakes in the 2nd half again 🤣
