"Counterattacking is a subtle art, safer to the man using it and more damaging to his opponent" The highest technique is to have no technique. My technique is a result of your technique. My movement is a result of your movement. Remember , the efficienty of every counterattack comes down to your mind , dont crack under pressure and be calm allways , when you are determined to move , do it with no doubt or fear , apply the most dangerous weapon as fast as you can to the most vulnerable target. All of your training videos are truely a blessing to all of us and over the years I have very much appreciated them. They have greatly enhanced my students' training. Love these sparring drills (I was a pro kick boxing fighter for many years PKA, WKA first full contact organizations in the United States. Trained with Ajarn Chai Sirisute, Guro Dan Inosanto and many others as well as boxed pro.), but head shots what we know today should be lighter because you really don't get used to it. Yea, med school taught me that. :) Finally, don't hit a lil kid in the head so hard for your lead on the video 😆. Obviously you need to have taken on the chin a few times but that is enough. Your chin only gets worse with each min-concussion. So, hard and even medium head shots in sparring sessions reduces your ability to resist getting knocked out in real fights. Head guards don't help either but they do reduce the chance of getting cut. Also, more ring time with the glove size you will be using in the ring. Again, without hard shots to the head. Using oversize gloves in sparring all the time actually changes your proprioception in attack and defense. You may be too young to appreciate this advice yet. Think migraines or C.T.E. (dirty lil secret of MMA) in later life. 🥋🥊Have fun and thanks for the great advice you give the martial arts community.

I absolutely love your videos! They are super helpful and thoroughly explained. The one thing I struggle most with is the pressure a better/taller/heavier fighter can put on me by rushing in. It's not like I don't know what to do but my body doesn't want to because I'm so frightened by the attack, at least if my opponent really hurts me. Do you have any advice on how to work on improving in that regard; how to become mentally stronger to not back up but counter instead?
@MMAShredded6 жыл бұрын
I have no secret answer besides to do it (counter). Focus on that one thing every time you spar, you will get better. It comes with time and experience. You already know what you need to do... just do it bro!! But the truth is, a taller/better/heavier fighter is going to beat you.. it wouldn't make sense for you to beat a BETTER and bigger fighter right? But it will make you come out stronger and be able to handle that kind of beating. The next opponent will be nothing to you!
@H3llGr0wl3r6 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for the quick answer! To focus on just one particular thing might help me to react offensivley rather than curling up behind my guard. Thank you again for the encouraging advice!

I see many people do then do differently I just want to know when I should lean back or forward while throwing my kick and just how much to open up. Liked it! Thanks Jeff, if someone dodge my right cross and counter with a left hook , is there some ways to defend? Cause I will not have balance in my body if I bend forward with the cross. And here In this video drill 3 , can I also counter the low kick with my jab ? Or it will cause some troubles?
@MMAShredded6 жыл бұрын
After throwing the right cross, you can always assume someone will swing at you to counter. A good way to avoid getting hit is to crouch and quarter turn like Dominick Cruz (maybe i should make a video on it) or to weave under right after or just bring your right hand back to your face and caridge block! As for the low kick, I wouldn't counter with the jab because you can't generate as much power and interruption to make it a worthwhile counter, whereas the cross can generate a lot of power and reach. Hope this answer helps!

fery god work man, ken you do a video of talking about ou to land kicks more effectively against a punch, and one talking about groin defense for the street?
@MMAShredded6 жыл бұрын
How to land kicks more effectively as in the technique itself? or placement of the foot? or timing? I'd say the best strategy is to kick when your partner punches because his leg is planted and cannot lift to block. Also, lean back slightly to keep your head further away from his punch! Hope this helps!
