I never watched her either until her son escaped to a neighbor's house and the 911 call was on every channel but since then, I've been following her case. She was a horrific excuse for a mother long before she had anything to do with Jodi. Her 6 year old forgot to pack her lunch (who makes a six year old pack their own lunch?!) and the teacher called asking her to bring her something and she said no because that was the consequence for forgetting to pack it! A six year old! She was perfectly fine starving her children to "prove a point". Absolutely disgusting.

Minimum sentence is 4 years (1 for each count) and maximum is 60 years (15 for each count) I hope she gets the full 60 years, but I’m guessing will be between 8-12 years in total. You’ve handled this topic sensitively and professionally whilst keeping it ‘Alex’. Great work 💜
@Ayreon-TECsystem
@Ayreon-TECsystem 8 ай бұрын
The total on paper is 60 years, but there is a law in Utah that states they can only sit for 30 years. So jail for 4 to 15 years but maximum of 30 years. The parole board in Utah will decide how much it's going to be, but that will take a long time.

I hope she stays in prison at least long enough for the youngest child to turn 18. All of her children should absolutely have the privilege to never be forced to see their mother again. If she cares enough, she can try to make amends once they have an adult's mental capacity to process everything she did to them (and when they are able and legally allowed to reject her and/or set each of their own boundaries with her, on their terms and nobody else's).

Did you all realise the judge was also Mormon guys? I had chills when Jodie Hilldebrand said “ I love those children” she scares me. Also when the prosecutor told the court she made phone calls from prison ( which were recorded ) saying she was the victim and the kids were the perpetrators and her actions were justified. The woman is vile. The mother is just as responsible with this. She was doing terrible things to those kids way before Jodie was even a factor in their lives. The two of them are horrendous.

Doesn't matter if the judge was mormon. He gave her the maximum sentence that he could: 4 to 30 years. By Utah law, sentences are to be given in a range from least to maximum, and not pinpointed to years. And in Utah, also by law, there is a cap on prison terms at 30 years. So he did the maximum that the law allowed him. He may be mormon, but he's not stupid. He knew the whole world was watching him.

Thank you for pointing out that she was abusive way before Jodi, I’ve had a parent that was abusive, joined a cult and their abusive changed and ramped up in some ways BUT, it doesn’t take away from: the fact that they were bad before the cult. Pointing this out is also important because it shows how her husband was going along with the abuse and that is something that needs to said more so that he doesn’t get custody of the kids, maybe visitation? But honestly, he never stepped in the whole time his kids were being abused and hidden at Jodi’s home, his inaction speaks volumes.

1-15 years for each of the 4 counts. She could be released in 4 years. Sad and pathetic. Her husband hung his head in court and cried, (what a loser), as Ruby gushed about how "he was the love of her life." Funny... a few months behind bars and she suddenly understands, years of horrid abuse was wrong? Come on. Whether she gets out in 4 years or spends more time behind bars is speculative? Depends on the parole board in Utah.

The sentences are being served consecutively, so in theory (though unlikely) she could be out in one year. However, this is apparently the maximum sentence for child abuse in Utah so it's unlikely that she'll be out too early. Her release is ultimately down to parole boards. White woman tears can be an extremely powerful tool.

It disgusts me that Kevin doesn't seem to have been held responsible at all when he was ok-ing and in on the punishments and decisions like going to the camp. How can he even have a hope at custody it is warped. There's a little bit of misogyny in that it's only the woman who receives punishment but he gets away with it all. He was there in the earlier days making suggestions and thinking up cruel punishments. Evil man.

Both of the Franke parents (Ruby & Kevin) were horrific to their kids during the time 8 Passengers was up. But, once Jodi was involved, it went from "cruel" to "horror film". She made it a lot worse. Much of the awful punishments that Jodi and Ruby have been convicted for, Jodi also did to her niece, Jesse. So the sadism was definitely led by Jodi, but that doesn't excuse Ruby - she went along with it and actively participated. Also, just because Kevin wasn't involved in the ab-se that was prosecuted, he still should NEVER have custody of the kids. Why? He never stopped it, never stepped in, didn't check on the two youngest kids for at least a year (the two who had all the awful stuff done to them), allowed Jodi and Roby to do all of this, and tried to have his eldest daughter (who went above and beyond to try and stop this and protect her siblings) wrongly arrested and prosecuted for burglary - something the police refused to do. He might not have physically committed the later ab-se, but he did enable it and he did mistreat the kids during the 8 Passengers years.

Ruby started by talking about loving her kids and motherhood. At some point she began humiliating them on camera and withholding food from them, and laughing into the camera. By the time Jodi hooked up with her, they were sparing nothing to torture the two youngest kids. Arthur Nebe (Hitler’s torturer-in-chief) could have learned methods from Jodi Hildebrandt. Both should be locked up until the kids are old enough to avoid them. Jodi, who had a therapist’s license, should never be released. She still denies she did anything wrong. She blames Satan and the kids for what happened to them.

I mean, even Ruby didn't make the girl jump into a cactus over and over. That was Jodie! That's why many believe that Ruby might get parole at some point way down the line, but Jodie WON'T

I do believe that the kevin person doesn't get let off either, they weren't separated long enough for kevin to claim plausible deniability. And yeah i do agree with alex's statements that punishments etc went on for too long to say you didn't know or you made a mistake, sleeping on a beanbag for 6+ months is hell of a long enough time on 1 month that maybe you over reacted. mothers are not goddess, fathers are not gods or weapons to use to scare ya kid. they are humans and can get things wrong. but what they did is beyond forgiveness..i hope they get the max sentences personally. being a parent should be a privilege, not a power trip. Four terms of between 1 and 15 years would mean the sentence is 4-60 years. Tysm for being an actual decent human and saying what we’re all thinking. Will we still get the doco of this whole saga that you were working on?

Its disgraceful...in utah they actually have a "cap"on 30yrs. So even though they both git 1_15yrs for each charge,they would never do more than 30... thats half the max 60.. so in reality they could possibly be out in approx 2yrs on a good behaviour thing.. or maybe less on some programme or ither ...i only kniw that cos i watched a vid on a lawyer who tried to explain the utah sentencing legislation. Its all flucked up tbf.. and it could also be a spur of moment thing if they get let out its a total injustice to those children for sure ..thanks Alex as always 💜🖤💜

One of the most INSANE parts of her statement was when she said (and I have no way to fact check, but lying in court is a further offense) was when Ruby said she didn’t make any money from the “self help sharenting”, she was actually PAYING JODI TO MENTOR HER. She was literally paying Jodi to do crimes against her kiddos with her. Unreal. Also, sentences are consecutive, not concurrent. So minimum is 4 years, but she might get credit for time served so she can apply to the parole board for release in about 3 and a half years. Jodi got the same sentence. Statements from the prosecutor leads me to believe they’ll be advocating to keep Jodi in custody longer, but they seem comfortable with the minimum for Ruby. Max for second degree felonies is capped at 30 years for Utah. Do better for the children, Utah. Gross.

Actually Jodi was the therapist for their son. She’s the one who encouraged Ruby & Kevin to send him away (& punish him). Their church recommended Jodi to be his therapist, that’s how they met. Austin McBroom should keep doing what he’s doing because it’s the only time he’s exploited his own suffering instead of using his kids for content

People need to understand that a lot of this stuff is just normal mormon parenting.. the ONLY reason these kids got help is because they got national attention. The CPS here didn't do anything because as far as Utah mormons go it was all seen as normal discipline. I would bet money that half the CPS workers probably treat their own kids the same way.
