"The road to success and the road to failure are almost exactly the same." -- Colin R. Davis. "Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it." -- Henry David Thoreau. "Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do. Don't wish it were easier; wish you were better." -- Jim Rohn. Hi guys! Let me just share to you a short story. We own a cookie shop business in our college town. When we first started it, we just graduated college and were living in our car with very little direction, just a huge passion to be successful. I started it out of a local bagel shop in their off hours at night with my boyfriend, Bran. It was a crazy experience but it worked! We became a success! And how we have our first storefront location (a second one currently under construction but launching soon!) We started it to fund a year long backpacking trip around the world and to be successful while living the life of our dreams.

First of all, thank you for this video. This is a great reminder even for existing business. Anyway, if you don’t mind giving me some tips, my coffee shop has been facing difficulties to get new customers instead. It is a neighborhood coffee shop with good accessibility and good quality of F&B. I have to admit that the interior isn’t as aesthetically pleasing as others, but the money is tight. Do you have any suggestions according to this problem? Thank you so much :)

Thanks Wilson for a video! Can’t decide on a location. I stay in Dubai. We have a residential area where new buildings are coming up very fast. This area has quite cheap rent... It is quite big as well... there are no walking areas though. Couple of small parks but I can’t say - those get crowded ever. So, any commercial place you look at - does not have a traffic passing by. Do you think I can count on word of mouth and on people driving from there buildings for 5-6 minutes to get a coffee at my place? ( no one walks around because of a heat ). These district has one bakery ( they serve coffee but the quality is not good) , one coffee shop inside a hotel and a coffee on a petrol station... Maybe there is someone from Dubai here??? Will be happy to get in touch! I have one more thought - taking a coffee truck instead ( for a beginning ). Do you think it’s a better idea?

@WilsonKLee3 жыл бұрын
I can't say for certain as I don't know what the syllabus is for the schools you're taking part in. BUT I imagine that those programs would be helpful since you'd learn things like basic accounting, finance, marketing, writing, etc. All which are great for any business you do. Would recommend getting some real life experience at a cafe to get a feel of what it is like working at one and maybe a management position.

My issue is with low-value overly commercial vendors. Food should be edifying. 'All Natural' must be your baseline. "All Organic and Non-GMO" should be made clear, this is not a sometimes we buy 'local' market-hype affair. Most market centers, (like san fran) couldn't possibly deliver value at prices the average laborer could afford.

It’s trial and error on knowing what people want. If I was opening a coffee roastery I’m not concerned about making sugar based drinks. People that go to higher end coffee places expect better quality coffee. If they want their diabetes drink they can go to Starbucks.

If it makes sense for you to. By sense I mean would people order from you? Does the numbers make sense if you do? Some cafes have specialty pasteries where ppl do order food delivery and the margins make sense.
