The first story about jimmy was so sad. He was quite happy living in the woods with his dog and some freak spoilt it all for him. I liked the sound of jimmy and his good dog Betsy. To the person with the bear on the hunting trip story... That's pretty shitty and stupid of your father to be constantly telling that story to everyone and saying only your brother was a hero in that story while you had 'just sat there'.... Because obviously to any sane person that's listening to that story, had you just sat there as he says neither your father or brother would've been likely to be woken up in time to deal with the situation. You're the real hero in that story tbh.

It’s definitely a myth that bears can’t climb. I was at an animal park a couple years ago and I saw a bear cub climb several meters up to the crown of a tall tree. He was swinging around on the branches up there and we were all scared the little fella would fall and get seriously hurt, but after a while he just slid down the tree all smooth like it was nothing. I don’t think I’ll be attempting to climb a tree if I’m ever chased by a bear lol 😅

In the second story, I think - no way did the careless roommate's date (bf, whatever) not tell anyone where they lived. The timing was impeccable and how did the guys know that they were "all kinds of fine" unless she showed him pictures of her roommate? That's one helluva coincidence if she didn't. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy a house with a best friend. That's too big of an investment and even the best of friendships can go south. It happens, even to married couples. I'm using the same rationale that I use to recommend never getting anyone's name on your body as a tattoo unless it's your child. Edit: Just love how the dad said that the "black sheep" of the family (at least to good ol' dad) did nothing while the golden child helped save the day. If it had been the black sheep, dad probably would have sacrificed him to save his precious Golden child. The black sheep was the one that woke up first and woke his dad up and made him aware of the situation. I don't call that "nothing." To the dad: You play favorites and that's gonna come to kick you in the ass one day. The black sheep will probably live the longest and he'll be the one that determines your fate when it comes to nursing homes. So you might want to be fix your bear story. 😂

I've never been interested in live streaming - except with Joel, I'm so glad I decided to and check him out every time now. I know I say this every time but you simply dont get the casual storyteller vibe from narrators these days. He knows how to make it sound like he's actually TELLING the story not just READING it. Thank you Joe-L Appreciate you, man.

I agree 💯. I can't listen 99% of the narrators on here regularly. But Joel's work never gets old and it's so easy to get lost in the story. (Want a female counterpart?? Check out Raven Reads' channel)

@@annahappen7036 subscribed to Raven too! Some people just don't have a sense of how to read a few sentences out loud in order to make it seem as if they are telling their own story to another person rather than reading off a piece of paper. You have to stay sharp enough to keep your mind a line or so ahead, in context for flow, proper emotional emphasis and inflection; also, not too fast, pronunciation and your personal style panache flair voice etc (whatever you wanna call that swag). Of course it sounds complex when you say those types of things in words but the intuitive way out minds can do so many complex things without not only struggling but having it become effortless. Getting into a state of 'Flow', when creating with your talents or practicing whatever skills is one of the coolest psych topics. Look it up!

The story with the young women buying a house together in the woods really makes me sad and angry. It's been a dream of mine for so so long to live in nature by myself or with a friend, but I'm a 23 year old woman myself and have had multiple traumatizing experiences with men, and I have heard about so many bad things being done by men to women who live a bit more for themselves.

I would like to propose a toast to my late hamster Reggie DinkDongiford the 3rd. He was a loyal companion and saved my life in 2017 when an armed robbery took place in my local Carl’s Jr. (They were armed with toilet plungers with the handles sharpened down to a small point.) I was planning to go to said fast food restaurant when my hamster went in to cardiac arrest and as I was riding along with him in the ambulance the fatal robbery took place. I would have been a victim if it wouldn’t have been for my hamster.

Story 2: That is why you stay strapped. I'm not even kidding. I know anti-firearm takes are common these days, but unfortunately, so are situations like that. Two young women living far away from town need the best and easiest way to defend themselves from something like that. Take it from someone who grew up in a crime heavy area raised by a single mother, some women aren't so lucky. My mother certainly wasn't. I encourage all women, especially young single women, to learn how to use a firearm and get one. They're the only thing that can protect you when you're alone hiding from two men intent on doing violence.

Story 7 was so heartbreaking but I really think the best thing she could have done was run to the neighbors' house to call for help before they decided to cut his arm off. Perhaps the neighbors had power to call the police and they could all go back to the house together to help him out with some manpower. Or cut the tree with the axe while they wait for the police to arrive. I understand she didn't want to leave him alone but being there not being able to do anything wouldn't have mqde it any better. And dragging his body alone to her neighbors' house only slowed her down while he bled to death. And given they decided to chop his arm off, she could have put him in a safe enough area and run to the neighbors' house and have them help her drag him back or something. I'm just trying to look at other options that could have been taken for anyone who are ever in such a situation in the future. I mean, now we have mobile phones but in case you lose power and battery life. I know it's hard to leave a loved one alone, even for a little bit. But if it means possibly saving their life then it's worth taking the chance.

@Kaniwani
@Kaniwani 7 ай бұрын
@@skylarsartnphotography3450 Yeah, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. I think it is like you said...extreme shock and panic that could have blocked her rational/logical thinking of the situation. I understand it's hard to know exactly what you'd do in such extreme cases when you're actually put in the situation but this one could have had a much better outcome. I'm hoping that by hearing this story from an outsider's perspective, I can learn how to handle it better in case I'm ever put in a similar situation. Tragic all around.
