Muppet Babies is one of the best 80s cartoons, and it’s a shame that the show can’t be released officially on streaming or physical media due to the complex copyright issues regarding the film and TV clips that was used throughout the series.

I remember my mom took me to E.T during its original release, and the alien scared me so much when I was 5 that when it was rereleased a few years later, I refused to watch it. It wouldn’t be until the movie hit VHS when I was 10 that I would watch it again.

What a coincidence, I also got taken to see E.T. at age 5, and had a similar reaction. Also upsetting was Elliot cutting his finger on the sawblade, and his house being under quarantine with the creepy men in biohazard suits. And I didn't understand why people thought that wrinkled little troll was cute (and still don't). Still have yet to revisit it as an adult.

Wet Banana-"we have Slip & Slide at home.." Muppet Babies End Credits-those bats know that cave belongs to Animal now Today on Dungeons & Dragons-Mr."Cavalier" once again is trying to get everyone killed Masters Of The Universe Bashasaurus-too bad he wasn't in the cartoon, would've been funny hearing characters dramatically shouting his name Huggabunch-its Dana Lambert! Man, I used to watch Dungeons and Dragons every Saturday morning when it was on. When the series was released on DVD, there was a guide to include the characters from the TV series into any D&D campaign.

Two more openings for D&D that I can add, one I didn't have at all and the other was missing a few seconds where Venger says "Today in the realm of Dungeons & Dragons." Thanks.

Muppet Babies End Credits- A clever and cute idea to have Baby Animal pretend to be a bat in the cave in that famous “Go Bye Bye!” Ending to the show. My Little Pony Megan And Sundance- The size of the eyes on the Megan action figure makes it look like her eyes take up half of the space on her face. Super Golden Crisp- I can imagine Sugar Bear appearing in this commercial and helping the military school kids fight off enemies using the power he gets from eating the cereal with his “Vitamin packed punch”.

1:34 Memory unlocked: I definently remember getting this Happy Meal toy. Man, I loved getting Happy Meals in the 80's. I remember collecting the Smurfs Happy Meal toys.

Wow yes that Muppet Babies outro was the original one they used before they paired the show with the Little Muppet Monsters in the second season starting in the fall of '85!! That only lasted 3 episodes but the new outro music carried through the rest of the series as well as the reruns!

I definetly remember some of these commercials (like the Wet Banana Super Slide, for instance). It's funny, my memories of watching cartoons goes back to 1981 or 1982, but my memories of commercials themselves kicks in more around 1985 or 1986. Well. except I do seem to recall a few He-Man action figure commercials from 1983 or 1984.

I'm shocked ET wasn't on VHS already around this time. I don't understand why wait 1988 to release it.

A VHS release would have cut into ticket sales for a theatrical re-release like this, which was still very common. Also, Spielberg seems to have been reluctant to release it on home video and required convincing: www.nytimes.com/1988/05/17/movies/wearing-spielberg-down-to-put-et-on-cassette.html

If you think the huggabunch toys are freaky, there is a whole live action movie where they come to life and take some kids into their puppet populated world. It's on KZbin.

After reading the regs, Saturday cartoons educated us. Its funny how those kids watching the so called educational programming of the regulations got more and more dumb. The shows now are completely stupid. Gives not 1 single ounce of educational learning.

I get that many parents and parents groups scoffed at much of the Saturday Morning fare during the 80's as being 30 minute TV commercials with no intrinsic educational value, but honestly what is wrong with escapist entertainment for entertainments sake? Do kids really have to be bombarded with educational programming 24/7, even on their days off from school? It's "think of the children" in action without actually looking at things from their perspective. And all they did was get the entertaining cartoons moved to cable where there are no federal regulations or educational requirements and kill the idea of the network Saturday morning cartoon in the process.
