Wow, I can't believe you did set location for Blood In and Blood Out. This movie was such a big deal for me and friends but I always felt like we were the only ones to have ever seen it. Though I think Siskel and Ebert gave it a good review. Anytime I bring it up I get crickets. I've been wanting to watch this again in recent years. Oh man, we thought we were such street kids at 20 years old then. lol. Such strong iconic LA movies came out then.. from the valley... to the east side... south side. Just remarkable. So sad to see the mural of the eagle and snake gone! I'm trying to remember if it was near a King Taco. Either I've seen it in person or it was in other movies. I think it'd be so much fun to experience that time in my current age. Thanks for this incredible set location coverage for this iconic movie.

It’s certainly underrated - I enjoy watching then unknown actors like Ving Rhames, Billy Bob Thornton, Delroy Lindo, Benjamin Bratt, Tom Wilson, Danny Trejo among them!

That’s because it’s a shitty movie that could have been cut by an hour and a half. To think there’s a longer version out there makes my stomach turn. 😂

Yeah, we used to watch it all the time. I grew up skateboarding with this one vato in Albuquerque who was a big movie buff, mostly horror, but he had a huge VHS collection and Blood In, Blood Out was one we watched a lot; he turned me onto a lot of stuff. Also Boulevard Nights, which this guy also did the movie locations for.

The director rented a house in the barrio for miklo paco and Cruz. He felt like this would help them get into character and build a stronger relationship for the roll they were playing. This might be the house on the paintings.

@malcorub 2 жыл бұрын
Both movies are good, but I think the reason Blood In Blood Out has a bigger cult following today is because of the great one liners, a good mix of chicano and non-chicano actors and the fact that the movie and the main characters could be funny and light hearted alot of the time. American Me and its main characters took themselves way to serious.

I've never spent much time east of the river, I am from Inglewood. Closest I usually got was Chinatown. In high school, they hadn't quite completed the Red Line, sorry the B Line, still not used to that, to Universal City. My friends and I would take the Blue Line, did it again, A Line, to the King Taco on Washington, or make it fun day and head down to the last stop in Long Beach. Those were the days. These video pull on my heartstrings! Love Your Work, thanks for making the effort. Days must long driving around doing these!

The location of "Cheap Times" was razed in 1997. There was a temporary detour road that was laid directly over the spot where the building had been, but that was only used for a couple of years while they built the train overpass. Love your videos BTW. I grew up around Long beach and your channel has definitely inspired me to tour a lot of these locations the next time I am in the area.

I grew up in the area. His location for Cheap Times is 100% accurate. The place resembled how it looked like in the film when it was razed. It had the blue gray stucco and the lightbulb star.

It's always cool when I see your location videos in or around East LA. Love it. I don't think we'll ever see this movie even out on Blu-ray because it's now owned by Disney and they'll never want to release this movie let alone a director's cut. But if they do, both of your location videos should be included as extras. They're that good.
