I have to tell you...I didn't have high expectations when I bought the Ranger Air Blower, but I am really impressed! It moves a lot of air and works great. If you haven't tried it already, you should

For a tester piece this surely came out beautiful...I have that blower. I just started watching you yesterday and immediately got up and started playing around with it. Didn't quite make a flower but made a piece on a tile that I'll call stormy night. I used the pitch black only. Thank you for inspiring me!!!

Hello Talented Lady! I'm an Acrylic Artist & just started AI. Hopefully, you can help! When working with the ink, they start getting gloppy & break off in little pieces & they won't rehydrate with the alcohol. Also, when using hair dryer or airbrush, I can't get a smooth petal or line. They get a lot of spindly off shoots & blank spots. Any direction you can suggest would be greatly appreciated! FYI - This type of Art is more difficult than I imagined so BIG APPLAUSE TO YOU for your BEAUTIFUL work & GREAT talent!

Thank you so much for the kind words. AI is very difficult to work with and the planets need to align perfectly...lol. There are so many reasons for things to go wrong. Humidity is not your friend when working with AI. Not all inks work the same, even within the same brand. Some colors are difficult to work with, but this is all stuff you will discover the more you work with it. I use 99% alcohol and occasionally 91% if its all I can find. 99% contains less water and I find it works best for me. I have found that using more alcohol is better than using less, unless you are using a dry pallet. It moves the ink smoothly and prevents the gloppy mess you mentioned, although I still get crusty edges sometimes too. In video #171, I show how you can make larger petals by changing the direction of the air flow ( I was using the Ranger hand blower ) but the same applies to using an airbrush. When you start to get those spindly off shoots, blow them back into the center before they begin to get away from you. Sometimes it works. Also, try lowering the PSI on your compressor so that the petals don't get away from you. Lastly...practice, practice practice. Eventually it will all begin to make sense and you will get the feel for it. Good luck and thank you so much for watching. I hope this information is helpful.

Any household supplies/tools you could substitute for the micro brushes? My other supplies are coming and I can’t wait to try this!

Hi Kathryn. I've tried a dotting tool, a blunt tip tooth pick and a cotton swabs with the cotton removed. The effect is ok, but the micro brush works best for me. Just like you, I couldn't wait until they arrived and walked around my house trying everything I could find...even tried the head of a pin...lol.

I must Ask what you use in the middle? I did not understand that. I mean the small dots.

It's a micro brush. Take a look in the description box below the video for more information and a link.

Hi Chiaretta. Thank you so much. This is the compressor and additional water trap I have and love - *Master Airbrush and compressor kit - amzn.to/2sMjGjq *Master Airbrush Premium In-Line Mini Air Filter and Water Trap - amzn.to/2SXrTu9 The PSI is adjustable, not too noisy and doesn't take up a lot of room.

You can use white acrylic paint or white acrylic ink. You can also use a white posca pen.

So I was just wondering why you are using this instead of the air brush? It seems like a lot of work. Didn’t your hand seize up? More control?

Hi Ann. Thank you for watching. I used it for 2 reasons. First, my compressor died and I was going through withdrawal so I needed to find another way to create flowers while I waited for the new one to arrive and second, I thought it would be a great tutorial for those who don't have an airbrush. I have a smaller bulb that I used in a past video. That one would hurt my hand after a while as it did not push out a lot of air, but the larger one by Ranger was much easier to use and pushed out enough air that I didn't have to work so hard.
