*heyy butterflies little correction* 🤦🏻♀️ I accidentally referred to the a-passioni as an eye cream, because I only spent three days putting this video together instead of the usual week or two, I didn’t catch this mistake. This was in my head because DE’s formulator said on an IG live it can be used by the eyes, and then when Caroline Hirons called him out, DE attacked her. I am going to do some digging and see if there is another facial retinol dupe for this product, but this also goes to show that the eye cream I did recommend, from Paulas choice, it’s really just an overpriced face cream. Other than two or three eye creams on the market, most of them are a waste of money and we have done videos on this before - my mistake just goes to show that the ingredient lists don’t lie! Thank you to everyone commenting to help me correct this error, and if you have a better dupe in mind please comment below!

Thank you for your efforts 🥳🥳😇! The price of the dupe for baby facial Biossance( SQUALANE + GLYCOLIC RENEWAL FACIAL) is actually the travel size which is 0.5 oz. also it contains lemon peel oil which might be very irritating to some. In this case I think the ordinary 30% AHA would be a better choice if you just want the same effect from baby facial.

Maha ys the ordinary is so cheap because they don’t do any advertising. The majorly of brands spend so much on advertising, commercials, packaging, etc. We’re talking millions of dollars. So when you buy higher end brands, most of your money goes towards their advertising and packaging. TO decided to let the products speak for themselves and spread through word of mouth... up until the founder passed and now it’s owned by Estée Lauder. They’ve started doing advertisements now. And TO’s newer products seem to have higher prices now...

I don’t think that what The Ordinary did was shady or rude. It’s super upsetting for a company to charge so much money which the customers could be using elsewhere or saving. There are great companies who actually care about their customer. I like it when great companies call others out for being over expensive for no reason. 🤷🏻♀️ that’s just me though.

Cassandra, you are so eloquent that it blows my mind. You put so much effort into not only digging out all of this background information (that I don’t even know how we would find or how long it would take us), but you also do it so seamlessly and effortlessly! (I am also living for the “tea spilling touch” you do!) Contemporary consumer started caring, more than ever, about so many different things about so many different brands, that we literally hold so much power in our hands. For some it may be labels like “cruelty-free, vegan, fragrance free, essential oil free”, while for others it may be plastic or glass packaging or pure values of the brand or what the company stands for. No purchases from us for moral or whatever other reason, no survival of the brand in the current market. I am sorry to break it down to you like that, but honestly that’s just the way it is (and I am kind of really happy that IT IS that way, now more than ever). I am also so, so glad and grateful that professionals like you are continuing to open our eyes (and ears) to all of this “once unimportant” information that is nowadays considered a DEAL BREAKER. We make wise decisions. Guys, we are literally so powerful with our wallets as individuals, even more so as masses! OUR HARD-EARNED MONEY MATTERS! Time is up, sketchy brands! ⏳🧨 With all of that being said, thank you Cassandra on educating the shit out of us, we would be so, so stupid without you. There, I said it! 👊🏻

They sell a small $20ish dollar one and I believe that’s a decent deal as I don’t use it every night as you shouldn’t with a retinol anyways. I really love how you educate people on of the sourcing of ingredients is done and how it affects our planet. You are such a hope in this capitalism centred world. I really liked the fact that you mentioned how bees are in danger and to avoid products containing bee derived products and how you said not to use products containing mica in them. You are so educated on these things and I just love how informative you are. Ps: a correction that I wanted to make was that the real important thing is that we need to protect wild bees the most as they pollinate most the flowers. Farmed Bee don't pollinate that much and can possibly drive the wild bees out of a certain area if they are too many in number. However the beehives (not the Beyonce one) are still important. Please try to look Into this topic as it's REALLY IMPORTANT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND FOR OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS!¡! 😊
@rachelsanchis4 жыл бұрын
(I commented it already, but I'm gonna leave it here too, because I think its important.) She is right in saying that we shouldn't eat or use honey, but wrong in her reasoning. The bees that are in danger are not the ones producing Honey. Honeybees are efficient at collecting pollen and returning it to their hives, and because of that, they are not very good pollinators. Wild bees are much better. High numbers of honeybees can actively harm wild bee populations, because they compete directly for nectar and pollen. As a result, wild bees have to change their foraging patterns which has consequences for the plant community. When honeybees occur in high numbers, they can push wild bees out of an area, making it harder for wild plants to reproduce. Honeybees are not a substitute for wild pollinators, so we must protect the entire bee community to achieve good quality pollination. The reason why I feel the need to share this, is because a lot of people started to set up hives of honeybees in their gardens and on their roofs, because they think they are saving the bees, when in fact it's the opposite. Is much more effective to plant flowers, for example, then you can ensure wild bees have enough nectar and pollen and they can reproduce faster, giving us in return, more plants and flowers. Not using products with honey is great, but it won't be enough to reverse the issue.

Besides the fact that the A-passioni is not an eye cream, the comparison of the price between it and the other cream is wrong solely because of how much product you get. The elta md eye cream has 15mL which means you pay over $100 for 30mL so it is more expensive than the A-passioni.

Thanks so much for your no BS, science based information. Saved me a ton of $$$ and educated me at the same time.

The clean beauty one is definitely not a dupe. It uses a vitamin C derivative (Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate) rather than L-ascorbic acid as in the Drunk Elephant one or the Skin Ceuticals one.

Hi! As for the bees, in Italy we have a website were you can sponsor a hive, help the bees and also get some honey sent to your house. Maybe you have something similar in your country if you are interested in helping them!

Estee lauder & La Prairie also shove a ton of ingredients into their skincare products. Personally, I think Dr. Brenner’s Vitamin C is the closest to skinceuticals

Can’t agree more with Brandon on his “drunk” statement !!
@lucy30304 жыл бұрын
hmm could you clarify a little more how you determine something as a dupe? i’m far from attached to drunk elephant as a brand but specifically for the vitamin c dupe you mentioned, i would be concerned to use that because of the packaging, a clear dropper bottle, which is just asking for oxidization with such a volatile ingredient. drunk elephant is overcharging for sure but at least they’re packaging products responsibly. i can’t imagine that that product would function the exact same way. the cleen one also has ingredients like alcohol that would make me not consider it clean. also: that brand is a subset of walmart; if you care about the environment or animals or human rights or anything that doesn’t seem like a good brand choice to endorse. also also: it’s actually good for bees to use honey if it’s farmed responsibly! i was vegan for a long time but always ate honey because it actually impacts bees positively. anyway just my two cents at the end of the day all of these brands are bad and just want our money capitalism is what it is

Dont domesticated bees also have overall higher survival and pollination rates than wild bees and are protected from common predators? Edit: also really uncomfortable with vitamin C having a clear packaging makes the Vit C exposed to light which compromises it.
@tiny_weeb_rin55834 жыл бұрын
So the bee thing actually kinda bugged me ( pardon the pun). Bees do survive better in beekeeping hives compared to wild bees. Bees make excess honey and royal jelly instinctively, and beekeepers take the excess, and check on the hive regularly to make sure it's healthy. When wild bees have an excess of honey, groups of the hive tend to leave and attempt to establish new hives, which unfortunately has a low success rate. If beekeepers are giving antibiotics to their bees, its to protect them from illness. They wouldn't purposely poison their crop. Since beekeeprs protect their bees, it helps them to survive, so its actually better for the pollination of crops. I'm not really sure where she's getting her information, but any time I've looked it up, this is what I find.

I remember reading a bee keeper ranting how she was so frustrated with a neighboring beekeeper that refused to give their bees antibiotics and lo and behold, their bees developed an infection that crossed into other bee colonies. So yeah, antibiotics shouldn't have been mentioned as a bad point here.

Bittersweet comment on the vitamin c packaging note - the c serum recommended here actually does not have pure vit c in it (like DE does), it’s a stable derivative that doesn’t oxidize like the pure form thus isn’t as sensitive to light and air. Good for the intended product, bad overall as it’s not in fact an actual dupe for DE’s serum (because of this and more)
@charlenas60844 жыл бұрын
Not to mention, honeybees aren't native and they're actually invasive, killing off local populations of bees. I'm confused as to what her point was.

The apassioni is not an eye cream. “SUGGESTED USAGE: Morning or night, apply a pea-size amount or less to clean, dry face, avoiding the eye area. May be mixed with any Drunk Elephant cream or oil. Limit initial use to once or twice a week, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, and then every night as tolerated. Always use a broad spectrum sunscreen. Avoid eye area. “ this is directly from Drunk Elephant. I’m sorry but if you’re going to be reviewing them at least do it right. I look at you and other influencers to help me find cheaper alternatives to products like this. I use Drunk Elephant all the time, and have realized how expensive it can get to buy this products. But I do love them all.

1) The A Passioni Retinol is NOT for under the eyes. 2) Just because products contain the same ingredients, it doesn’t mean they have the same efficacy. There is a difference in the quality of the ingredients as well. So yes something that is $9.00 might have the same ingredients as something that is $80 but the quality of the ingredients could be what causes the price change. (i.e. spices, clothing, etc)

The Acure Night Cream is so good. It’s such a good moisturizer and provides so many benefits. I was hooked the first time I tried it. I really love it and highly recommend! Plus it has both the CassPass and is Hyram Approved. Bonus: AOC our queen uses it in her routine too!
