I've been able to smoothly break my APX down with a few simple tricks. 1) Make sure trigger is disengaged. 2) Place left thumb under beaver tail. Wrap fingers around slide. 3) Gently pull back slide until chamber slightly drops down. 4) Place right thumb over the takedown lever (button). 5) Hook right index finger over takedown lever (lever) 6)Push right thumb in while hooking right index finger down. Hope this helps anyone interested.

@DEValentine Жыл бұрын
At first, I could not take down my APX Centurion no matter how hard I pressed the takedown button. I ended up pressing the button gently against a hard surface for more leverage to disassemble it. Once I had the slide off, I oiled the takedown assembly generously, then worked it open/closed a couple dozen times to break it in. Now the takedown procedure goes more easily, and I can manage it with my hands. Tac Con is right that Beretta should have made the takedown procedure on the APX easier. It requires far too much hand strength, especially when the takedown assembly isn't broken in.

Some really great options on your list. But what else can you expect Tactical Considerations. Your work is brilliant Mike, thank you. Your channels have become my preferred for reviews and information. The APX take down can be an arm wrestle, but must say all mine did loosen up over time - some quicker than others. The one on your list which I have no experience with, but which keeps me interested is the Mossberg. The Arex Delta series should be selling by the boatload if more people realized what an amazing handgun it is. And like the CZ’s, they are shot in the factory.

The AREX Delta series of pistols are criminally underrated for their reliability, ergonomics, and overall shootability. The only thing that isn't great is the lack of aftermarket support (although there are some decent holsters available if you look). The CZ P-10 line is a superb value also - stupidly reliable and accurate firearms with optics ready versions available for under $500, and a good aftermarket.

Arex is absolutely underrated, I have a Zero 1s (essential and improved sig 226 clone) that is amazing.
@domenik8339 Жыл бұрын
I'd argue the arex is the best on the list by far. Those other pistols were built to be budget pistols, and they perform like it. The arex wasn't - it was built to be the primary side arm for a military, it uses top of the line modern machinery to manufacture it and it is one of the highest ounce to bullet ratios of any handgun on the market today. It isn't easy to beat a Glock in that regard but arex did, and the gun will outperform a Glock in raw performance right out of the box. Forget the other options on the list, the Arex is the clear winner.

@veezouptown4148 It's not too complicated. Yes, there are laws, and there are no "loopholes". You will (at the very least) be required to ship the firearm(s) to a local FFL dealer. The FFL dealer will then do the required background check when you go to pick it up. Just like a walk-in purchase. You can be delayed, approved or denied. Depending on the state you live in there may be further qualifications or restrictions. I've never had an issue, so I don't know the process to get a refund if you are denied. A PSA customer service rep could likely give you more information, or even your local FFL dealer. PSA makes the process as easy as it can be legally. I have never had an issue with the process at all.

Going just on memory, I think Mike reviewed the Elite 3.8" in the past, but maybe in 10mm vs 9mm. I can say I'm not Mike obviously, but I have an Elite OSP 4.5" in 9mm that I've put probably 3500 rounds through, great pistol. One thing I'd say is that grip texture is pretty bold, but it's also a bit slippery, so Talon or HandleIt or skateboard tape is a pretty good idea.

I feel seen! I hadn't been a shooter for several years until recently. We had a home invasion that traumatized my daughter. So I decided she should get a handgun and get comfortable with it to feel protected, But if she was going to be doing range time, I should, too. She got a Smith and Wesson M&P Shield EZ to learn on. I found a law enforcement trade in Gen 3 Glock 22 for $300. The existing police trigger was trash. So I spent another $125 to upgrade the trigger. And now I have a pretty solid .40 S&W that I can cover my groups with my hand. Way back in the dawn of time I was a green side corpsman. And I always shot Sharpshooter or Expert back then. But my eyes aren't good enough to do that now. To get the same results I got at twenty five yards back then, I have to do it at fifteen yards now. But now that I've got a good trigger, my Glock is a keeper.

Regarding the APX takedown: towards the right end of the takedown lever, there's a groove going partway around it which interfaces with the flat portion of the hole through the right wall of the chassis. There's a ramp at the bottom of that groove which cams the lever outwards as you begin to turn it. Just a tiny bit of stoning on the face of that ramp will usually make it easier to initiate rotation of the lever. Or, one can just push against the takedown button with the magazine's baseplate.

I picked up the Masada Slim as my first gun back in the summer. It shoots really well, fits my smaller hands extremely well, and I haven't had a malfunction yet (put probably about 400-500 rounds through it so far). If I could change one thing, though, it would without question be the disassembly process. You have to pull a pin out to disassemble it, and it was a HEADACHE to seat the pin back in after the initial lube and clean. Other than that, I love it.
@TacticalConsiderations10 ай бұрын
yeah that little pin in a pain on the masada s for sure.

Great vid Mike. Many moons ago my first polymer pistol was the XD Springfield and I still own it. It's still a great gun for the price. I think polymer guns have come a long way since the Glock. You definitely get more for your money now adays and that a good thing with inflation running out of control. That Beretta for 399 is a great deal for what you get IMO.

I bought a barely used Mossberg MC2C from my local gun shop pretty cheap and had several of the 12 and 15 round mags with it. Didn't care for the lack of texture of the grip so I did break out the adj temp soldering iron and stippled it to my liking.. Do the same stopping on just about every polymer framed pistol I have..

I agree with 99% of what you said, We must have similar taste. The CZ P-10C-as far as the grip, I put a Talon grip tape application. It helped quite a bit. Come to think of it I think I have Talon on just about every 9mm pistol I have. I tend to like the rubber textured line. Thank you-Great video-God bless.
