This is odd. I just weighed 100 g of almonds and that came to approximately 2/3 of a cup in order to consume 270 mg of magnesium. In another video, we were told to eat only 10 almonds per day. I weighed 10 almonds and that came to 8 grams. Please explain how we are to consume 100 grams or 2/3 cup of almonds without killing our stomach linings. Please explain how we are to get maximum magnesium out of nuts and natural foods.

@@lindashankle9645 I have not given you a prescription on how much of each food to eat. Let me repeat that, I haven't said you should eat 100gm of each food. The 100 gm is a reference point. It makes sense to have a definitive and fixed reference point when comparing nutrients in foods. I have used 100gm here. How much of the foods you consume is up to you but at least you can easily work out how much Mg you are getting depending on how much you choose to consume using the 100 gm reference point. How much you absorb is another matter altogether. And you have different foods to choose from. It's all about getting a good spread of foods to get the desired RDA

Great info! Thank you Dr Joe. I use Almond Milk (sugarless) with Chia Seeds (occasionally Oats) topped with Cacao Powder, (when I crave chocolate) & roasted cashews along with 1 to 3 pcs of dates. I am not diabetic but dates (Ajwa type) are a little too sweet for my tastebuds so if I make a big batch of Chia Pudding then it will be 3 dates but more often its 1 medium sized date for my breakfast bowl with a very generous sprinkle of chopped roasted cashews. I also use Cacao Powder in my Banana Walnut loaves.

Thank you Dr.Joe for the very long waited video. I wished the video was longer to cover the following questions: Which is better: to consume these seeds and nuts raw or roasted? And,if roasting is a good choice, does it reduce their nutritional values? When it comes to almond, why soaking them I water is often recommended? Can't someone just eat them without soaking? Does the amount really matter ? Finally, I wish you'd continue videos as such covering a single vital compound and vitamins on a weekly bases. BIG THANK YOU Dr. Joe.

I'd love to do those kind of videos but unfortunately KZbin politics discourages that. It's difficult to explain but suffice it to say it is the difference between being just an expert and being a KZbinr. The channel is already struggling enough as my presentations are leaning more to being too much of an expert than being a KZbinr

I think the nuts can be consumed raw. Somewhere I have read the Dr. Gregor advises not to roast the nuts because the oil in them might get oxidised. Almonds should be soaked before consuming in order to reduce the toxins In them.

Thank you Dr. Joe... Peanuts and Cashew nuts cause inflamation. Can you tell us something about that? I really love the job you are doing... Thanks
@drjoetvMD
@drjoetvMD 10 ай бұрын
Peanuts and Cashew nuts don't necessarily cause inflammation. There is a small argument that they also are rich in Omega 6 fatty acids, so if you consume a lot of them you'll skew your Omega 3:Omega 6 ratio for the worse which could be potentially inflammatory. But that applies more to their oils (peanut oil and cashew nut oil). Whole foods are always better than derivatives

Physical book is not available in Nigeria. Your best bet is to get the download version. But you need to have an account with Amazon to do that. Register with Amazon UK and proceed from there

Thank you so much. Very good information. In the mean time I wish if you help us which brand are really chemical free at least let us know since you have a good exposure and resources. If you any recommendations. Can be able to video on oil. I mean cooking oil. I believe cooking oil is what's killing us all this days and in coming future generation. Thank you so very much.

I spent this 2023 explaining to folks on this channel about why we must cut down on our fat consumption which includes the cooking oils. I have been telling folks to use as little oil as possible (and I mean very little). Oil consumption is what's making us diabetic. Not the healthy carbs as some other folks will have you believe

I am so glad you shared theses foods . Right within my reach. I love rolled oats. So a good start of the day with some oatmeal maybe a sprinkle of some wheat germ and some nuts from the list would be a good start to any day. Some of those foods could make a good health bar … you know of a good recipe? Thanks for sharing 😊

Thank you very much Dr Joe for this video. I eat most of these foods except dark chocolate, oat bran and wheat germ. Please what is the daily dose of magnesium for adults? Can it be overdosed?
@drjoetvMD
@drjoetvMD 10 ай бұрын
No, you are unlikely going to overdose on Magnesium from foods. From supplements, yes. From foods, no. We need between 300 - 420mg of Magnesium daily

Hi Dr Joe what is the best way to prepare these magnesium to get the full nutrients?
@drjoetvMD

Prepare your food as normal. Magnesium does not need special cooking or prep techniques. The only rule is not to eat anything that blocks it's absorption with the food containing magnesium

Greetings Dr. I am one of your biggest fan. Please Dr, is there any treatment for kidney stones to be removed without surgery.
@drjoetvMD
@drjoetvMD 10 ай бұрын
Tricky one, that. It depends on the size of the stone. If it is a small stone, it will meander its way through the urological tract and you'll pass it eventually. Sometimes I am surprised at the size of kidney stones that are passed by patients (I have to say) when they show it to me. But bigger stones generally speaking will require surgical intervention. In the meantime, dose up on your lemon juice consumption to facilitate dissolution and drink plenty of water too

HELLO Dr. Joe , enjoy your videos, however your Missing one contender for the Belt. Hemp Seeds are a great source of Magnesium - 30 g of hemp seeds contains 210 milligrams (mg) of Magnesium, 100 grams of Hemp Seeds 700 mg. ( USDA Dept of Agri ) Also you might consider comparing foods in serving not 100 grams (near 1/4 lbs) , nobody going to eat 100 grams of food like cloves. Lol I always get people with this one including professor of Nutrition. Seems Hemp been black balled for years by all the Corporations.
