9 Month Klonopin Withdrawal Update - Benzo Belly and Other Stomach Issues

An update on benzo withdrawals (Klonopin withdrawal) after 9 months. This update includes how the loss of a close friend impacted me, my diagnosis with gluten intolerance, and my plans for moving forward for the rest of the year.
Background: I was prescribed 1mg of Klonopin and 120mg of Cymbalta by a doctor for PTSD and anxiety. I tapered Klonopin to 0.25 mg before quitting CT.

Brandon - thank you for sharing your experience and hope you get better. I am very sure that the upset stomach and acid reflux is from cymbalta withdrawal. Duloxatine is notorious for it's withdrawals syndrome and specially the G.I. system. It takes time but I assure you that you will get better. Also, I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. It's funny, I was just wondering how you were doin. Glad to see you're hanging in here. So sorry to hear about your friend, I cant imagine going through that during w/d. I also went gluten free during this, our body isn't designed to process it. We can tolerate it when healthy but were compromised right now, we will get it back. I cant wait till I can hit up some fast food joints and eat whatever I want again. All in do time I guess. I think you made a smart choice with the cymbalta, I have been assured numerous times by numerous experienced people that we will heal from the benzos while on ad. Keep going! I can’t thank you enough for these videos, it helped prep my own tapper. 2 months no klonopin here after 18years of use and the benzo belly is really intense. To anyone reading this suffering the same- try acupuncture and take sea moss gel on an empty stomach everyday. It’s the only thing keeping me out of the E.r. Where do you purchase your sea moss gel? I know this comment is 3 years old but I do hope you see this. I’ve lost 10-12 pounds within the past 4 weeks coming off Klonopin that I took for 15 years. I am embarrassed because I am so thin. I was always naturally thin but this is awful. I have no appetite and when I do eat I almost projectile vomit if I eat too much which is very little.

I've been on Klonopin for 7 years I am going into a Long term treatment center. I'm on a very high dose and they won't allow me to taper down there..I already have experienced tapering down at another treatment facility and that was PURE HELL..Ontop of this they won't put me on any (real) withdrawal medication that is needed for the 7 years I've been on them. I feel you and I'm going to experience this pain all over again not by choice. I was going to treatment for alcohol. So it'll be hard to recover from my real problem when suffering. Beautiful Lala I am currently tapering off of 6 mg a day for 20 + years. I’m down to .5 mg, and I can assure you that after researching I would never ever go to a treatment facility! Not tapering is dangerous!!! I don’t care if it’s a treatment facility ! Many many many of them DO NOT HAVE THE EXPERIENCE TODEAL WITH BENZO w/d’s. The higher the dose, the longer duration, the more danger from cold turkeying. I wouldn’t risk seizures or my life!! Tapering is horrible, but much safer and better than being pulled off.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. Yes, we experience sensitization; we feel pain much more than the average person; it's usually a nerve type pain, stress related. I became very sensitive; gluten, chemical smells, ect; it's insane!I always check with my benzo community when i develope new symptoms and sure enough, many people reporting the same things! I make alot off home made soups, lol! You have to try and catch yourself posturing; tensing up your body, usually it's at that time your brain starts to think negativety. As soon as you catch yourself posturing; do something to totally distract yourself; but one of the keys to healing is to catch that and "rewire," the brain; the more you catch it, notice it, and change it, just stop it and whatever thinking you have; it starts to change your brain rewiring. I am not a doctor, but i have been learning and applying and i have had good success with that! Break that negative loop that your body/brain defaults to. Thank you, i care about you too and everyone in the benzo community. We are a special family. ❤

Who knows I used .5 with Snri and Antipsychotic for a year and then 3 years on only 0.25 klonopin with agony for 3 years .... What happened to me was my first doctor that prescribed this medicine to me died and I had to find a new one. The new doctors told me about how klonopin causes dementia and I was down for tapering off the drug slowly. We did it for a month. Sadly, they failed to tell me about how bad the withdrawals would be. They probably didn't want to scare me. Anyway, after about a couple of weeks of being off the drug they put me back on it. Bad move on my part because slowly over the past two years I developed a tolerance to the drug and I'm experiencing symptoms while taking the drug. I'm going to get off of it again as the beginning of the year by doing water tapering over a long period of time to try and curb the withdrawal symptoms. It's going to be hard, but I've got to do this. It's killing me.

That is a problem...I never had stomach problems until I was forced off benzodiazepines too fast. GO Dr are helpful. Kindness work well. When you get off too fast and are on stress all the time it effects everything. Let's face it we all where on benzodiazepines for a reason. @@Merknilash I’m certainly doing better than my last update. Things not being 100% or “completely better” has resulted in myself feeling anxiousness about updating. I will say this for sure though: things do get better, but to some degree (for myself) things will never be the same. Keep in mind I also have had head injuries prior to benzos. I do believe some of my personal problems with benzo withdrawal have been complicated by the significant head injury I had. I also can say the same thing about my digestive system. I seem to be more sensitive to abdominal issues that accompany benzo withdrawal due to having had major stomach surgery prior. Tl/dr: things Do get better but it takes time and patience. Maybe a lifetime. But better everyday is better. I had some personal health issues that complicated things. Other than that, life is way better. Be well. Keep fighting the good fight. I already believe that you’re going to win. Seriously. Others will look to you as a leader due to your experience. I’m on Instagram btw, (iambrandonll) that’s the only social media I’m on anymore. Jeff Galaska much better! I have more panic or anxiety than I ever did before the klonopin or the withdrawals but having that as my only lingering symptom isn’t bad. All the physical symptoms have subsided and I am actually back to working out heavily (which helps with the anxiety). So yes, I seem to be much better; not 100% but very close.

@@cherbear6377 your doctor could suddenly be ordered to cut you off just like that ,that's what happened to me and many others, then you won't be able to do a safe taper because they won't work with you.All the sobs arw getting sued for medical negligence,as they should You really should try to taper safely , if I did it after being prescribed xanax for 10 years you can too , trust me it will destroy you to stay on it.
