I needed to hear this. Moved into a new house in June and hate how long it's taking to make my house look nice and cohesive. Slow and steady wins the design race...

I think with every video you post, I find inspiration in each one. Not only do I love your ideas, I find that I have also done some things the right way. 😊.

When I am having trouble with tablescapes I find that taking a picture and then moving things around and taking another photo helps me see what is working and what is not. Something about looking at a picture makes it easier to edit and make changes. I love your videos and am grateful for your advice.

I especially liked the " Still Life Styling " tips!! Please include more before and after photos- it really helps to freeze each shot and analyze the differences! Xo from Canada ❤️

I really like the “aha” effect of the styling trick you are talking about. It’s literally the core of the solution. Like the grouping with different shapes and heights , or pairs with similar textures. 👍👍👍 it’s so practical! Also other suggestions are on point too!

I so love your videos, they both encourage and pacify if I feel frustrated with the (lack of) progress in our home. We’ve lived here for a bit over a year and still aren’t quite in the “styling” phase because I want to be intentional with organizational items (they absolutely need to be beautiful by themselves already). Your tips always remind me that my approach is just right for what I want to achieve. 🙏🏻

I love the advice about matching table and chairs by material. I bought a large table in oak and oak veneer from IKEA, and found 8 beautiful vintage solid oak chairs with wool tapestry upholstery in sage green and cream. Everyone admires it and assumes it is a fancy designer set. Bonus - I paid about 12€ a piece for the chairs in the charity shop. This cannot be beat.

Thanks for showing table top styling. It does tend to be a little frustrating. I personally love very close tones but different texture and materials. I find it soothing.

Mister Reynard. Good to see you post. Sometimes I will buy from a thrift store with no returns, usually it looks better than I thought it would, but sometimes it looks terrible. In that case you can always sell it. Think of lone fox "décor drop", he makes a lot of money selling that stuff. Reynard, on your point of varying shapes with a room: bedrooms are always rectilinear boxes, i.e., the bed, the dressers, nobody has a round bed. LOL. All BOXES. "Warehousesque". BUT, if you use round night stands, it makes a world of difference. AND functional when you get up in the middle of the night. They could be half round, oval, and a drawer is nice. This makes a huge difference. If I could fit a chair in there, it would be very rounded as well. Maybe a small round stool? Thank you.

For bedroom I find lamps to be very helpful. It helps break up the boxiness and also functional. But yes, round night stands, or a bench or chair can be helpful too.

This is *such* a good idea! I was wondering what annoyed me about our bedroom, it’s the boxiness!

You got it right when you first said : don't use the entire colour wheel in your decorating . 😂 Then you said : but you can if you want . Yeah , nahhhhh . I will trust your first advice on that one Reynard . So don't be such a people pleaser . "Oh you can if you want ." No my class won't be using the entire colour wheel in their homes . This is not a 🌈 camp week Reynard . 🤣

I think he said you don't have to use the entire color wheel in your room but can if you want. Yes, there's a difference.

Depends on the blues, but ochre or burnt umber are always nice.

You can also play with the depth of the colors, if everything is light, some dark colors and reverse

Yes, the opposite on the colour wheel is orange, but it doesn't have to be that literal colour. I love cognac. This could be tan leather, rich mid tone wood or bring it in through vases or sculpture. There are colour palette generators, or simply put your colours into an image google search with the key words 'colour palette' and see if anything appeals.

I like a warn cozy sage green or moss green. Generally gives blue pallette an earthy finish kinda like literally sea/sky and land
@rockshot1004 ай бұрын
For a coastal, add another different blue like turquoise. For another color, Terra Cotta, you might like. Careful, just a touch at first. A touch of black or chocolate bar color really does "ground" the room.

I bought things second hand and if I changed my mind it didn't cost me much because where I got my items for decorating. Was at a second hand store that would cost me 50 cents to. Maybe $5 an item. So finally after a year, I decided what I really wanted. To trial and error. So if you're change things in your house make sure it will cost you next to nothing until you decide exactly what you want.

PLEASE: I love what you have to say, but could you flip the percentage of screen time devoted to your face vs the images you are discussing? We want to study the image while you talk about it! But mostly we just see your face. It’s a nice face, but you could show your face 10% of the time and let us study the images while you talk. Thank you!
