Brand exclusive ppvs were great, only issue was the Smackdown ones outshined the Raw ones most of the time and Vince no doubt hated it.

Eh not exactly. Some of the last brand exclusive Smackdown PPV's where headlined by... Jinder Mahal and his terrible title reign. 5 of the 6 Smackdown exclusive PPV's of 2017 (the last full calendar year of brand exclusive PPV's) had Jinder either challenging for or defending the WWE title. The RAW PPV's in 2017 weren't great but most of them did have interesting main events/world title focused matches. Smackdown had Jinder. I cannot imagine the viewership was good during this time for the Smackdown PPV's.

It’s been fine honestly I still find it exciting I think it’s just the honeymoon phase is over. Let’s not forget that backlash was arguably the best in the ppvs history same with elimination chamber, wrestle mania delivered ( especially night 1) and the Royal Rumble had an all time ending. Just because you don’t like a decision or a few episodes of raw that happened right before the draft we’re a little boring doesn’t mean the product isn’t exciting. You have some bad and some good with any company .

Also I don’t bag on Roman because of the time he’s missed only because he’s beaten cancer twice, I’ve had family members who never regain their athletic abilities due to chemo I can see him needing more time off because of the toll it’s taken on his body.

Brand exclusive PLEs could work if the cards aren’t completely underbaked like some of them were back in the day. Lots of instances where half the card was just kind of thrown together when they originally did it. If they take care into booking them properly, especially since you would have 2 months of build for each card for the most part, brand exclusive PLEs could be awesome. Or, just cut back to the big 4 plus Money in the Bank (which in my opinion has become the modern equivalent of the King of the Ring ppv)

I'm admittedly a semi-casual fan who mostly watches PLEs and only watches Raw or Smackdown occasionally for a big storyline but my God did I lose almost all interest after Roman Reigns won again, I've barely watched since then. I don't like part time champions, especially double champions, I just dont understand how having a champion who's rarely there and rarely wrestles is better than an active one for WWE or are they just too scared to move on from Roman...

If it was Brock Lesnar and still 2014- 2020 then I'd agree but Roman Reigns is different. He's only missed 4 PPVs since winning the Universal Championship in 2021; Brock Lesnar would have missed every one that isn't in Saudi Arabia or one of the big four. Hell he might have even missed Survivor Series last year if they stuck with Wargames. Brock Lesnar also wouldn't be on Raw or SmackDown as much as Roman Reigns is, which may not be all the time but he is there almost every month.

@@RomaroBrandon He's still not around enough. Just because Brock was worse ,doesn't make what Roman is doing okay. It's boring. At least there were 2 world titles when Brock was doing it. And it was a REAL title that existed before Brock, not some made up consolation prize, SPECIFICALLY described as being because Roman is never there. Thereby making the title sad and pathetic before anyone has even held it.

@@kennyhudson9201 how is he not around enough when he's there's every week, even on Raw. Brock Lesnar never showed up to SmackDown except when he beat Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship. That's was literally the only time and it happened 3 years ago. And this "real title" was once the consolation prize when the WWE Champion Dean Ambrose was drafted to SmackDown in 2016. The title isn't pathetic because Roman Reigns is Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, the title is pathetic because Triple H can't keep his word and make it exclusive to Raw without putting SmackDown superstars in the tournament for no reason other than ratings.

@@NowayTino when they did the brand split in 2002, the PPVs were brand exclusive except the big 4. And it worked really well. Extended storytelling, and you'd get a PPV level match on TV (perfect example: Kurt Angle vs Brock Lesnar Iron Man match for the WWE Championship)

Honestly yeah take the PLEs out of the states more. Elimination Chamber and Backlash had the 2 best crowds all year, and I'm so genuinely excited for Money in the Bank for the same reason

I really do think IYO should’ve won and at Night at Champions it should’ve been IYO Sky vs Asuka vs Bianca Belair vs Bayley (she gets herself added in to “help” Iyo win”) Then after keep having Asuka and Belair feud until about Money In the Bank or SummerSlam. I'll admit the prospect of a full brand split doesn't seem intriguing right away. But, that's only because of how they operated with it in the past. Think about it, a full brand split between Raw and Smackdown. That means each show has it's own creative, each show has it's own identity, each show has it's own champion and each show pretends the other one either doesn't exist or is inferior until that time of the year, survivor series. Where we get to see them face each other. You could have a "Monday Night War" feel between them. Raw gets a few PPVs... er sorry PLE's a year and Smackdown the same. The big ones are still cross brand but raw matches are raw matches and smackdown matches are smackdown matches. If done right it could be very effective and a new "era" in WWE. But they haven't done it right yet.

Allow me to add to number one, include NXT in the draft! I mean properly as in superstars from Raw & SmackDown get drafted to NXT not just NXT superstars drafted to Raw & SmackDown. Also to add to number four, let's not have a female NXT call-up feud with Natalya for 2 years because she's the Dolph Ziggler of the women's division.

I think it's a response to Vince's return. And while him being back isn't great, I think a lot of people are acting like everything has gone back to the dark times of WWE, which just isn't true. The wrestling is better, the stories are better, and despite the bollocks Vince is shoehorning in the overall product is still broadly great. I don't think these are nitpicks. Criticism is always necessary, but they're definitely being treated like *the worst thing ever, in ever* which they're really not.

I think one of the most important things honestly is the tv format. It’s hard to watch a match when -Wrestler makes entrance -Commercial break -Random unrelated Promo -Second wrestler makes entrance -90 seconds of action and then another commercial -Few minutes of solid wrestling then the finish or another commercial. Makes it hard to keep interest, and is a noticeable bore live

Hot take (maybe): but I don't hate the idea of KO and Sami vs Roman and Solo. I feel as though Sami and KO's story with Roman (not the bloodline) wasn't over yet. And of course Roman, the Tribal Chief, would want the tag team titles back. It just makes sense for the character. Plus, were definitely getting a Roman vs Uso's story soon. We just can't rush it, WWE is probably holding that off for SummerSlam or Survivor Series.

@@sonic5993 well that’s the problem with wrestling nowadays, most people are too impatient to get true long term storytelling, in the past wrestlers would chase titles for years before winning them and stories would last for years as well. The rock didn’t beat stone cold for years, dusty rhodes chased the world title for years. This generation never lets long term stories develop, they’ll say someone’s buried like Cody or complain that it’s getting stale.

@Kenny Hudson yeah but WWE is definitely building up to that moment. The turn is probably going to happen at Night of Champions. If we're talking about being abused by Roman, he literally choked out BOTH of the Uso's at Hell in a Cell in 2020, and they were still on his side for 3 more years. So, if we were talking about when the Uso's should've turned, it probably should've happened a long time ago. But Roman was fine as long as they were winning. The tipping point was them losing the tag team titles in the main event at Wrestlemania. Roman NEEDS to be the top dog, and his family needs to be the top dogs for his own validation. Eventually, and more than likely next week at Night of Champions, the Uso's will have enough. I predict Jimmy's going to leave first, and then Jey will stand up to Roman. Edit: WOW, I was right on the money!!!!

The issue with this is the same they had with the woman's revolution, you can't promote huge change for the better whilst not acknowledging that it's needed. Biggest thing they need to do to get the new NXT and returning wrestlers over is IN RING MIC TIME. Not backstage skits. Very few people are going to get over from just backstage comedy. That stuff needs to only happen after they've gotten over with a mic in front of a crowd. Mainstream audience doesn't know these people. So, let them speak on a mic a few times in front of the people who don't know them, and build them up all over again.

If WWE really wants to be fresh they'll start basing their booking decisions on fan involvement. Meaning if crowd investment is non existent for certain superstars (Omos) stop moving them into high profile matches. If they are getting huge pops(Zayn) put them in upper card positions and consider putting RELEVANT titles on them.

I really wish that WWE would treat Mania like the end of a season because sometimes when watching you just think "Ah well, least they can go again at Backlash" which shouldn't be the case. Rumble to Mania is the most exciting time as a wrestling fan and a reason for pre Mania not being exciting is that it's the same stuff we've been seeing for a couple of months. Maybe the draft should happen after Mania to liven everything up and Backlash becomes the first show of the new WWE year

If you’ve watched dustys documentary you 1000% can tell this was Cody’s idea to lose even in aew he always lost once or twice before he would win a feud . Also it was his idea to come in At 30 for the rumble and that was the first sign he wasn’t beating Roman. He will beat him at mania or summer slam then they’ll stop crying.

1. Rename the women’s singles titles so it doesn’t matter which show they are on…. WWE Woman’s World Championship and the WWE Woman’s Universal Championship. 2. Stick to the drafted brands…and make Free Agents disqualified from winning titles. This way, they are trying to impress to get “signed” like an actual free agent would. Even announce their contract lengths, so when they expire, they can show up on the other show and try to get a new deal. This gives the Free Agents a built in storyline regardless of their opponent. 3. Need to love the Bloodline story forward? Have Jey Uso make an interference mistake that allows Sami to pin Roman. Build Jey vs Roman. Sami and Kevin move onto Imperium…

I feel like in triple h nxt stories were better because wrestlers had advantages over eachother, Balor used his agility over KO , Samoa Joe used his strength over Balor, Nakamura hit harder than Joe n Roode was smarter than Nakamura. They kinda do it in wwe but not enough

I disagree that the Roman story no longer needs Sami. Or that Sami no longer needs that Roman story. I feel like dropping it now wouldnt make narrative sense. He was obsessed with them for so long. Whether being one of them, or destroying them for the good of everyone, especially Jey, he cant just move on. Sami and the Bloodline could possibly use some space for eachother. But this is a multi-year arc. This is something you could get multiple seasons of a show out of.

In regards to Numner 9. Remember when WWE did live shows in Belfast? Me neither. I was too young at the time to care. It wouldn't be hard to bring out Finlay for a legend pop then have Sheamus, Balor or JD in the main event....yes those are all from RoI but short of bringing back Big Damo I don't think WWE has any NI stars right now.

The Bloodline arc since after Mania seems like they’re dragging it out. I can see why, it’s been a big story since Roman has won the title 1,000 days ago. So that’s a lot of time but it’s time to let it end. It’s had a good run.

The brand split is not broken, raw stars haven't been showing up on SD and visa versa. Everything makes sense. The women titles not being swapped is better then just handing the titles over is worse, they are probably going to introduce new beltys.

I love how there’s always complaints for any wrestling company/promotion. Why can’t we enjoy the good? “bUt tHe TitLe iS rAw eXclUsiVe” .. we got AJ/Rey/Edge, AJ/Bobby, and we’re getting Seth/AJ because of crossing the title tournament. I say the the atmosphere of it just went down because of the whole vince is back and the selling the wwe that what really killed it but as of right now seem good although I agree there has been questionable decisions and need a fix that triple h need to fix and capitalize wrestlers such as LA Knight the PLE has been great perfect
