Hi Leon. I am new to your channel. I found you 2 days ago and I haven't been able to stop watching you! Thank you so much for doing this for us. Thank you for dedicating your time to helping others. I'm actually excited to stop alcohol now, whereas I've usually been so worried. I've failed time and time again but now I have hope and confidence that I can do this. I used to be a smoker and one day I just quit cold turkey and never looked back. For me it was easier to quit cigarettes because they don't really do anything for you. I think one of the reasons people are more addicted to alcohol and struggle to quit is because of the affects. It's like drugs. It makes you feel good (for a while). It alters your mind and behaviour, whereas things like cigarettes and food etc. don't. But sometimes we don't realise that alcohol is a downer, not an upper. Thanks once again. All the way from South Africa x

Day 36. Your method makes sense. If I get a craving, I watch your video. I journal. I’m not sick. The culture presents the idea that you can not relax or have fun without alcohol. That is not true. I like thinking of it as ethanol and poison. Other people might be bothersome when you quit. I’m no longer scared to quit for good. The cutting down didn’t work for me. I did quit for 144 days a few years ago and thought I could go back and handle it. The thought of quitting forever was just too scary. But now I’m not scared. I’m doing it.

The paradigm shift of which you are speaking - turning the outlook from alcohol gives you something instead of taking things away - mostly is achieved when people reach their "bottom": when someone's life has gotten so bad they have little choice: stop drinking or die or life is not worth living with continued drinking. Accepting that fact is "surrender".

Last week I decided to stop drinking for ever and ever, but I had a relapse after 6 days. I've been an alcoholic for 12 years, tried to stop drinking so many times but I fail every time I try. Last weekend when I had my last relapse, I was so needy for a drink and thought about committing suicide because life wasn't important for me while I was sober, I called a friend a mine for help, went to the IR and they gave me some shots a drugs to calm me down. The psychiatric gave me two solutions, first one is to keep drinking, second one is to be hospitalize so they can control me and force the sobriety on me. I'm scared to be hospitalize and take all the drugs they will force in me, now I chose the first choice which is to keep drinking. I don't wanna drink anymore, I wanna quick drinking and still be working like anyone else, but the option to be hospitalize for a month or ever more, it scares me. Anyone have anything to say to me? Any suggestions? Your prayers may help. Thank you for your time to read my post.

I can relate, nobody chooses to drink and become addicted for no reason. We get addicted because of traumatic events and before we know it we've played with the fire and we get burned. It is a horrible vicious cycle and it is heart breaking with the addiction itself and how many lives it takes. This guy is correct, it's a poison and an addictive one for that and there is a lot of negative energy on it as well which causes relapses and lapses depending on the person.

After 15 years of abuse it finally clicked and I got sober with your free content here on YT. I know this might not be the best for your business model haha buutttt ... thx man!!! The FPT worked for me AND by seeing that I am not the problem or let's put it that way: People in general aren't the issue, it's the highly addictive drug called alcohol. It's like shooting up heroine and call yourself weak-minded for not resisting it. Nodoby would think that way. AND in addition to that: When you think that you are the issue, you also think that it's okay to try moderation, because maybe this time you can handle it. Maybe this time moderation works, because you are the problem, not the alcohol. When seeing it soberclear (^^) by understanding that alcohol is the problem and always was you are feeling like you have exposed a liar. It is THAT clear. I have no cravings or wishes drinking it again because I see clearly now that it is not rational putting toxins in my body and talk myself down for not handling them right. That's BS and everybody who thinks that they are the issue ... OOOHHHH LORD :D Btw, my drinking habits were pretty severe for me personally, 2 or 3 bottles of redwine a day, that was my poison. In addition to that I began skating again and fulfill my life with a purposeful meaning.

@anthonymedlin35693 жыл бұрын
I do agree that once you stop drinking, you shouldn’t be going around “I’m an alcoholic” really your defined by something you use to do? Hell maybe you could say “I’m recovering from alcohol addiction” however I disagree with you that only the drug is the problem. Usually when addiction takes full throttle it’s because we have some issues we need to address in our thinking, and some healing we need to do from bad decisions. AA is a double edged Sword it’s deeply helpful for people to have a community, and that the community is typically very helpful towards each other. However It’s unhelpful that that community, tells each other their always alcoholics and something is deeply wrong with them internally. Often times they will refer to their “alcoholic minds” and “disease” even when it doesn’t pertain to alcohol but when they do something or think something stupid. What AA’s are taught is horrible.
@justincase75242 жыл бұрын
As soon as I hear anyone saying that alcohol is just a poison and doesn’t actually provide anything I realize they have negated the dopamine/motivation circuit. A lot of alcoholics can’t even get moving at all, ie paralyzed with no motivation meaning and purpose. The alcohol provides a blip of euphoria and dopamine to start and the brain/mind knows that unless you can brainwash hypnotize yourself somehow to negate that fact. The brain at that level that’s calling for the happy chemical reaction can’t just be “talked to” or “re-educated” regardless of what this person saying. What happens most often is a temporary excitement and dopamine from the idea of being sober and productive and loves comes in and pushes out the bad stuff. But life is hard and reality often causes a breakdown of that temporary state and people default back to a drinking cycle they are familiar with.
@sarahblaquiere3121 Жыл бұрын
AA's philosophy can be very disempowering. The very first step is to admit to being powerless over alcohol! Obviously, there are some people who do need that intensive support to manage themselves - but what evidence there is suggests that AA only works for about 5% of the people who start in the 12-step program.

I also think there’s a sixth factor that’s very major and it’s being set in your ways. I had my last drink shortly after turning 24. Leon stopped drinking at age 25 (I think?). Mid twenties (23,24, 25,26) feels like an ideal age to escape from the “Ethanol Matrix”. Leon may of experienced it to some extent because of how many years he was a drinker (starting as an underage adolescent) but age really matters. Twenty-somethings _(especially mid twenties because you are usually more dedicated to health conscious lifestyle and not as easily influenced by peers as in early twenties. But late twenties starts pushing it)_ are significantly less set in there ways compared to someone ten years older and exponentially more open to changing their behavieosb and shifting their world view than someone 15-25 years older.

Never cared about marketing, looked for the strongest, cheapest Never told people I wanted to quit, because I know they don't Most think its normal, thats what I saw. You fail, because you think your better, and its ok to start again Reasons for not stopping, hang overs , after affects, DTs I'm now 9 weeks free If alcohol had not after affects ??

I just have to say thank you so much for this. It really makes me look at it differently and it makes so much sense. Everything I was taught about alcohol was wrong. Ths drink is the problem, not myself! Alcohol is not this fun, innocent thing that everyone makes it seem.
@kikbucket66843 жыл бұрын
I also want to add that a majority of my family drinks. I was taught by counselors that it is a genetic disease as well and the fact that people related to me drink means I am "prone" to becoming an alcoholic. Now I realize I am not doomed to this "genetic family curse" and can feel free and not be powerless in my decision to quit. Thank you!! You're the best!!

It’s not the marketing, dude, it’s the buzz.
@buzzbonanza13 жыл бұрын
Sniffing glue, huffing gas, and shooting smack give a huge buzz (or so I'm told), but we're not taking those things up, are we? Why not? Because those things are harmful and drinking ethanol isn't?

The buzz is so short lived,hence needing more and more and more like any drug

Here for you. I am 60 and stopped when I was 25 cold turkey. Havent had a drop since. If I can do it , anybody can do it. I am nothing special - just an alcoholic. You are stronger than you think. You can dump the desire for alcohol on me. Spiritually, I will take the desire you have, into my heart and return it to you in the form of healing, love and light. I know it sounds wierd but what I am talking about is something called tonglen and it heals. Imagine your favourite drink is petrol - you wouldnt drink it because it will kill you. Pretend for 6 months Your subconcious mind doesnt know the differnce between the truth and a lie, Thats what I did. It works - its all in your mind Praying for you - you can do it Bill
