Incredible Off-Grid Family of Girls Help Mom and Dad Build a 2 Story Addition | Off Grid Cabin |

We’re making our off-grid hunting cabin a bit more comfortable for living in Full-time. The girls are getting older and require a bit more space.
In this video, we get our foundation for our 2 story addition poured.
Our kids help out, as usual, to get it done! And maybe do a bit of horsing around. 😆
We used a product called Helix. It’s a microfiber-type Rebar that is much easier to use than your traditional rebar.
SIT BACK AND ENJOY THE SHOW!

Being that I’m the daughter of a man that worked in the concrete business for 40 years I’d say he’d be proud of the job you did. Concrete looks good you did right by putting it on piers. There’s just something fascinating to me about concrete work, maybe it’s the memories of my dad and helping him do all kind of work. Thanks Chad and Naomi and family you guys rock.

I'm new here got your channel from Simple Life Reclaimed. ❤️ I'm MamaV and just starting my homestead from raw land. Question: how much Helix did it take for your application? I'm going to be building a 16x16 or 20x20 cabin with similar foundation.

I have 4 girls and 2 boys. I pretty much raised them on my own. We lived many hard times. But the best thing about it, is they never say, I can't! A family that works together stays together! I now have 5 adult children, with families of there own. One to go! And seeing how our world is falling apart. I know without a doubt, that they can endure and prevail even in the hardest times. Kudos to you both for raising strong minded girls! I can't wait to see your family Git-R- Done!

That’s awesome Jonna! Just remember that you may see the world falling apart on the tv screen and social media but there are so many people out there that got it together and keeping this world together. You just don’t see much of that on the screen. There will come a time when the majority being us will stand together when needed. And my goodness! 6 kids! Wowzers! 😆

One tip I can give you is,after using concrete was your hands with vinegar (cement is alkaline -vinegar acid) let it soak in ,wash hands then put cream on. No more dry hands. Love your families KZbin Chanel. Your daughters are awesome. Can’t wait for the next video. Greetings from South Africa

Each of the girls should do a time capsule that they get to open after they get married. Each kid and parent writes something about each one and those letters are placed in each capsule. So each girl will have letters from their sisters and parents about them and whatever little items they want to toss in.

People complain about buying cheap equipment for projects but we aren't commercial operations needing to mix concrete or build skyscrapers. If it lasts several jobs around the homestead, it was well worth it! Taking care of it after the job is a big part of it.

22:00 Nice that Mom had the forethought to have the taller-and-thus-possessing-longer-arms Tylynn make her hand-print in a further-away spot on the cement, so that a nearer spot could be "reserved" for her younger sister Hayley; Little Miss Redhead could therefore put her hand-print in an easier-to-reach-for-her-shorter-arm spot. :D

12:40 This is true evidence that I grew up in a different time. "How do you get your kids to work?" All those nice things you said? My Dad would have said just one thing, "Do you want to eat?" It never crossed my mind to not work for or along side my Dad. I was in my Dads way from the time I could walk watching what he was doing until I could help him do what he was doing.

WOW! I just can't say it often enough or loud enough...you and your lovely wife are just so blessed to have those beautiful young ladies!!! And you, your lovely wife and those beautiful young ladies should be so proud of what you have accomplished!!! I do believe you all deserve a good polite round of applause...👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 job well done! I was curious if you might use a palm sander to vibrate the concrete in the tubes but I'd say you look like you did a nice job getting it to settle in...having done a few hours over the years, I know it can wear you out rather quickly. Looking forward to the next installment of the girls bedroom construction! By the way, do you have a site where you sell merchandise, like your shirt?? If not, maybe something to consider! If the tube would let me do subscribe several times! You've become my favorite channel...keep em coming please!! Well done you, your lovely wife and a special 👍❤👍❤👍❤👍❤to Ms.Taleah, Ms.Autum, Ms.Tylynn and Ms. Haylee!!! You young ladies are AWESOME!

Thank you Jim. Always a great pleasure hearing from you! We have a palm sander somewhere and I meant to use it but didn’t feel like looking for it. 😆 We were sure to move it around really good with the garden hoe and that piece of rebar. In the video it didn’t show much of us doing that more aggressively but we did. I seen some other KZbin video where the guy used his saws all without the blade in to vibrate the tubes. And no we haven’t really got in to selling shirts or merch. My wife made me this shirt a long time ago. We may do something with 9252 life off grid and our new business, Strength Supply Co. We’ll see.

Just did the floor of my brothers pole barn. We had fiberglass added to the concrete. 6" slab, 10" under the car lift area, & 2'Dia x 4' deep pillars under each car lift leg. We used fiberglass rebar, 2' on center & added 1/2" Pex-Al-Pex tubing 10" apart. Put 2" styro around the outside of barn, 2' deep. We plan on heating the ground under the slab. Wow, have we been yelled at, 'you're doing it wrong'. No, we're doing it better. The house has been heated by an outdoor wood furnace for 4 years & now the shop will be too. Took 1 1/2 years of prep work to get this far.

You need to call me before you do stuff like this and I will give you tips to save you money and time and effort. Like this You: Hey, I’m gonna buy a small harbor freight mixer Me: No buy the bigger one even if it means waiting. The big one does 2 80 pound bags. You: 👍 By the way. First timer Me: Ok. First all dry goes in the mixer, all 160 lbs and then tilt and add water and tilt more and more water. Till it looks good and let mix for 3 minutes. Check for lumps and pour it if ready. Did you get a farm jack yet? The moment you do you won’t need it but the day you do … priceless. Keep going. Your inspiration is appreciated. I’m not off grid but my house is coming together from a shambles.

Hey guys, I am a new convert to your channel today. I have been watching for a week or so and I like what you are doing. I totally agree with what you are doing on the footing you poured today. I plan to build a house soon myself but it will be a little bigger than what you guys are building. I am an American living in Thailand and labor here is very cheap so I will build as big as I can. Most of the building in Thailand is done with concrete and steel. I like that rebar replacement is very interesting and I hope I can find it here in Thailand. We are going 25 feet up so the actual fram of the house is I-beam. Then we surround the I-beam with concrete blocks. You would never know the real strength of the building is the I-beam frame. I will be very interested in seeing how your "rebar" works out. See you in your next video. Rest your back. LOL

That sounds awesome! There are other types of concrete fiber that you could probably find there. Good luck and enjoy it! Thanks for watching!

A while back I was researching the Harbor Freight cement mixer. Of course I checked out KZbin. I noticed from the comments on those videos that several other people have too. This is exactly the type of video that I wish to have found. It's about as real world as you can get. Perhaps you could do a short video tagging the mixer in the title and give a short review where you share your thoughts on it. That would help a lot of folks out and please include a link to this video so they can see it in action. I sure hope that the weather holds off long enough to get the bedrooms built for the kids!

13:40 So making hand-prints in the wet cement is Tylynn's "favorite part" of this project; really good choice of words right here in a coincidental sense, since I think that this is my "favorite moment" of the whole video --- the ultimate in satisfying "childhood innocence" dialogue :D 21:54 Project costs: Cement: $500 Cement mixer: $250 Reinforcing helix: $150 Gas for generator: $10.00 Seeing Daughter's patiently-waiting-but-eagerly-anticipating facial-expression prior to joyfully making her hand-print in the wet cement: PRICELESS :D

"The girls ditched us, like 2 hours ago"!! Yeah they know their rights!! Down tools before dark!! You are doing a fantastic job, no one would dare make any negative comments!! YOU DO IT, you give NIKE a run for their money!!! PS: get your money back for those scales, better that money be in your pocket than in theirs. Every penny counts and its YOUR money!! Any equipment that does not stand up to what is expected of it, RETURN IT - I know its a pain in the but to go back with equipment, being that you are so off the road, but in the end, you either get the best out of your equipment or you should not be paying for it!!!

Next time, turn the mixer off and break the bags open in the hopper. Add 1 1/4 gallons of water per 80 lb bag in before you add the dry concrete. Each 80 lb bag is .6 cubic feet. Do the math as you calculate how much your footings need. Good homeschool problems to solve.

Water: ok I'm no expert but, you have a creak using a pump you could put that into say a 1,000L holding tank that could be used for building, feeding the animals and plants, well anything except drinking. if you have the creak flowing from high ground to lower ground (the bigger drop the better) the water can pump itself with no power.

I remember those long days of mixing concrete. We poured a foundation for an addition we built. Being in upstate NY we had to go almost 6 feet to get below the frost line that is often 4 ft deep. Some parts were built on rocks we hit that were bigger than a bus. Pretty much just texture those and pour right on top of them. Damp proof the whole thing and that was that. The pour was thick enough to put 10 stories on it (my Dad tended to overbuild) so it was a lot of mixing and wheelbarrowing. I remember the concrete dust and the bloody noses from breathing it. I hear it's bad for you. I'm in my 60's now. Nothing has shown up so far. I'm not really too concerned either way. I've learned that ultimately no one escapes the grave (well, maybe there have been two) and there are worst things than death.

10:50 A simple way to repair a hard-plastic coily-hose like that: snip the hose at the damaged spot, trim the cut ends to make them square/even, and then find a short piece (1-1/2" to 2" long is ideal) of steel/copper/aluminum tubing that fits snugly inside the hose. Then heat-soften the ends of the hose by soaking them in boiling water, slip the pliable ends of the hose onto the copper tubing till they meet in the middle, and clamp them tightly in place with small hose clamps (you might need cement of some kind to form an airtight seal).
