You did a good job on your video, You mentioned replacing the spring clamp for a hose with a screw clamp. The reason spring type clamps are used is so they can expand and contract a temperature changes. Over the log term the fixed tension screw clamp will get loose and may leak. tightening the screw and the thermal expansion and contraction will eventually make the rubber hard and may crack. So using those spring clamps that seem cheap is better for hose life. Screw clamps are also available with built in springs.

hey thanks for the comment Mike. yes i agree with the spring clamps and what they are meant for. i choose to use screw clamps for myself because it just becomes easier to access in the future

you could be having other issues. that may not be really coming from the iac. things to check is do you have a cel?.... its really hard to say whats going on with your car without diagnosing it. because if you are getting same results from either iac... also make sure that the iac is adjusted correctly too. ill help as we go along with this

having the same issue noticed u mentioned a coolantbsensor is on the valve,would that explain why my coolant gauge fluctuates back in fort with the rpms? and if so is the part bad or just the sensor?
@motorsportfactory
@motorsportfactory 6 жыл бұрын
well you have to test everything to see what is really causing it. its really case by case . it could be the sensor itself. but i believe i said the coolant sensor is by the valve not on the valve itself. the main things to look for is vacuum leaks,check ignition system, fuel system, mas sensor, check to see if you have stored codes. its best to diagnose the car before replacing anything

Very helpful video, my 95 Altima reports the 505 error code too. I had a very bad time figuring how to remove IAC system to clean it up (before viewing your video), when I did it, I took off the oil filter to make more work space, I am wondering if It was not necessary. I understand idle state problems you mentioned, but my car also experiences a lack of power mainly when driving up hill. Might it be related it to IAC fault too?. I have changed sparks and its cables, there are no other error codes. Thanks for your help.
@motorsportfactory
@motorsportfactory 8 жыл бұрын
+Oscar Badilla taking the oil filter is fine. no need to worry if you take it off or not. taking the oil filter and the filter housing is good to take out when you want to change pcv valve . thats when you will really need space. if your lackin power is probably anything from needing tranny fluid flush or clean mass air flow. change the fuel filter if you have not done it. if you do decide to change pcv valve make sure to change the o ring in the filter housing or use rtv .or you might need new timing chain.

+Motorsport Factory . Thanks for your advise, you mentioned many important points, so I would like to talk about each one: 1-Automatic Transmission. I have already changed trans fluid recently, I removed pan and found two dirty magnets in it. So I cleaned it all, I didnt find any oil filter, should it be?. Oil didnt smell burned. Problem I have is that when I shift from reverse to drive or viceversa trans takes little time to react (get traction) and if you press accelerator pedal when change, you will hear a hit in it. 2-Fuel Filter. I will change fuel filter. 3-Mass Air Flow. Please advise how to clean MAF sensor. The original one had to be replaced time ago with a used part. I experienced intermittent lack of pwr that time, perhaps it is faulty again.And I think this is the main suspect. 4- PCV valve. It is hard to reach according to I have read and it is reachable only from below, so I would like if you can tell me some hints to verify if it is malfunctioning before trying to replace it. Now you know I love this car, It is an Altima 95 SXE. thks again.

the auto tranny filter is mounted right above when you take the tranny pan off . you can see it. here is link to show what it looks like www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts/DC/6668-05384114.html?DN&+Nissan+Altima+Automatic+Transmission+Filter+Kit+Pronto+PTK1234+93-01+Nissan+Automatic+Transmission+Filter+Kit+1995+1997&fp=pp&gbm=a&PartsGeek+Google+Base&gclid=CjwKEAjwgbG5BRDp3oW3qdPiuCwSJAAQmoSDeGD_h4lEuL2L2Tqt9Dd_Xbz9iDhUCGg8IJhtA8FAzRoCFLHw_wcB&ad=47584901292 to clean mas air flow you must use only mas air flow sensor cleaner. do to specific materials the mas air sensor is made of. the cleaner is specialy made for cleaning that. link to cleaner www.zoro.com/crc-electronic-cleaner-16-oz-aerosol-05110/i/G2052416/?gdffi=047ada998cf641fa93e55ae8579df863&gdfms=FD1B86B6A6D14888A68D5EBA7AB06C81&gclid=CjwKEAjwgbG5BRDp3oW3qdPiuCwSJAAQmoSD38mQTdRbwPfHCbHQw5nNNOvsX6SNkH9jKK7FDf23PhoCtUPw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds to get to pcv just follow my video after taking out the idle air valve. then just follow the video. i didnt repeat the steps in the removal of the idle valve cuase it would be to much time. so follow this video and once you get to taking it off then follow this video on removing it kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKC0h6Nph9-Mndk do replace the pcv while your doing idle air valve its much easier and not have to work twice . so while iacv is off just work on the pcv too. also your car may need tune up if never done. have the timing chain also inspected . that may need replacing too. hope all this helps

I am trying to install my iacv by myself and I'm having a hard time, did you take the bottom hose completely off and reinstall it after you bolted the valve back on. Which bolts did you put on first? Please help I'm having the hardest time lining everything back up, I'm not the best mechanic but I couldn't afford to have it done in a shop. Please help, I need my car. Thank you!
@motorsportfactory
@motorsportfactory 8 жыл бұрын
+Hubert Goins as far as the bolts i started with putting the bottom bolts on. and at the same time getting the 2 hoses on as well.the longer hose has plenty of slack. the short one does not. the longer hose can be taken off while still bolted.the short one and the bigger diameter hose can only come off as you take off the iacv. ive also learned a little hard way to take off the bottom larger diameter hose. if you take the oil filter off along with the filter adapter block you will have more clearance to the large diameter hose clamp. but do know that if you take the oil filter block off you will need to replace the oring seal that sits inside it. i will be offering that seal soon.. while you at it you can access the pcv valve also . here is the link to that video too if you wanna do the pcv. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKC0h6Nph9-Mndk i hope this explanation helps. if it does please let me know. and dont forget to subscribe and join me on facebook

hi, i know this is a year old but I'm just wondering, what does the iac do? what are the simptoms of a bad iac? thanks in advance
@motorsportfactory
@motorsportfactory 8 жыл бұрын
+Rafael Moreno The main function of the IAC valve is to ensure that your vehicle idles smoothly. However with a bad IAC valve, this idling will be rough. You will experience heavy vibration (shuddering) when you idle the car. As the valve has gone bad, there will be no/very little air flow to the engine, when you idle the car. Thus, your car will shake, vibrate, and may also make a loud noise while idling. Due to this rough idling, the next time you start the engine (the car), you will notice that the car stalls immediately after starting. Your car's IAC valve might be clogged with carbon debris, and due to this, the valve might not open sufficiently enough to let the air to pass through it. Under normal conditions, when your car is idling, if you turn on the AC or heater, your vehicle will still idle smoothly. However, if the IAC valve is faulty, your engine will stall the moment you increase the load (AC or heater) on an idling engine. You will also experience a drag on the steering wheel once the AC is switched on. To restart the engine in such situations, you should turn off the load and wait for few minutes for the engine to cool down before you crank it up again.

well the psi itself tells alot .. you need to have at least 120 psi for good compression. also check your alternator too.

by the way my altima seems to run normal, no apparent problems with the IAC but i smoged it and fail code p0505 "idle control system malfunction" and p0400 egr flow malfunction;:-(

+Rafael Moreno let start with simple stuff first like check vaccuum hoses. you can clean the egr valve with carb cleaner to see if that helps. if you have a check engine light on ... they will fail it. so you have to have no codes to make sure it dont fail smog .you can also try cleaning the iacv and also check the wiring for that part and the rest of the wiring to the engine cause you never know where the problem can be also please subscibe to my channel and facebook. the link to facebook is in the link of video. i will be making more stuff for the altima soon

you should be able to tell from the body of it. does it look newer or the same as the old one. its always best to diagnose the care before replacing the part

What was the symptoms to determine it was the faulty valve ? I have a 1999 Nissan Altima with 240,000 miles.

eractic idle. stalling, hesitation... but there are other components that cause the same issue . thats why you have to diagnose it before changing anything. check your codes first. even if you have no check engine light on,codes can still be stored in it
