Yes, the meaning is tied to the Japanese movie’s (Signal) plot & characters, which involves communication between two detectives in different times solving cases together. Junglook is a co-composer on this, drawing from his familiarity with anime themes and style.

The song is the OST for the Japanese movie Signal that that comes out today. Which is based on the TV drama Siignal The video also incorporates aspects for the BU fictional storyline. Lost count how many times I've watched it. They were all amazing but Jin and Jimin killied it.

Ominous is the word. You have hit the nail on the head. I think they are all singing thinking of Jin who is in this loop time travelling back and forth ( in the BU universe story). Felt this sadness as he gazes upon others from the other side. I felt a shiver as he runs and the crescendo with Jimin belting away, a nd Jin opens the door to nowhere. And the end with V trying to connect with Jin but no one is in the room on the other side.

Hi Chalfant. It's good to see you again and condolences for your aunt. "Film Out" touched me a lot and sent me back to personal feelings especially RM's verses (Two glasses placed side by side, their role Never fulfilled, ah, just as thеy were Since you last touchеd them and Jimin) and Jimin (The fragrance I smell, the warmth I feel As long as it lasts, as long as it lasts) I lost my father in 2008 and it took years before we managed to put his things away but the last pair of pajamas he wore still hangs in his bathroom, no one touches them even today, and every time I go to my parents' house, the first thing I do is go and smell his scent on it; it's painful but I need that pain to remember and make him live again, and almost feel his warmth. So yes this song made me cry but cry nicely. The visual is definitely BU related and serves the lyrics beautifully.. but I'm not going to comment on the interpretation until it comes from official sources.. But indeed as you said, they have this power to provoke incredible emotions and to make their universe accessible in such a way that one can appropriate it to find comfort or if not a reflection that will grow you. Yep the time difference can make things confusing it was released at midnight Korean time which technically made it April 2 in Korea but April 1 for anyone west of Korea. Glad you get to spend some time with your family. Although it does not say I definitively think this MV fits within the BTS fictional universe story which you haven't really gotten into and I don't want to spoil so I won't say too much about it....if you choose not to watch the MV in order and read the notes and webtoon etc and figure it out a theory for yourself then you can watch a summary of the story up till now by xceleste she does some really good theory videos which explain the very complicated story. This is also an OST for the upcoming Japanese film, Signal the Movie Cold Case Investigation Unit.

Hi Chalfant! So good to see you! New music videos are released at 12 am KST so it was actually released on April 1st. I think that the Japanese songs hit differently. Jin always shines in them. Jungkook did such a great job co-writing this song. He is so talented! I have been singing "la, la, la, la, la, la since yesterday. It will get stuck in your head, lol. More than likely, this is not about the BU at all. This song is an OST for a movie based on a series called Signal. There are a number of similarities between the BU and Signal. Signal is about 2 cops, one in the past and one in the "present" that are able to talk across time, with a specific radio. They work together to solve crimes and try to save people. The memories of the people in the future change with changes made in the past. The cop in the future is also trying to save the life of the cop in the past. The past cop just disappears one day, supposedly stealing money and running off. The future cop has to try and find out what really happened so he can warn him and try to prevent his death. They aren't that many years apart, so there are people who are in both times. Also, Jin is with the guys but he also stands apart, watching them, in two places at once. That's a lot more like Signal than the BU. Jin is a pivotal character in the BU. He never just stands back and watches the others. Just my thoughts.

In general i'm not too keen when Korean songs get turned into Japanese versions. (Which is what most Kpop groups have been doing for decades now- as that the Japanese industry was basically the first foreign market that Korean groups expanded into.) However I do love original Japanese relapses like this one. BTS has some really beautiful songs in this realm. The rapline was so smooth here with the crisp vocal line segments, and JK putting in work as composer. It's great stuff! Also Safe travels and condolences.
