I'm confused about no.12 .. Not sure it if I'm just not thinking properly but isn't 'classe' a feminine plural therefore the answer is "le loro classe" ? unless it's an exception
@99problemi7 жыл бұрын
Ciao Chinead. 'Classe' is in fact feminine singular. It belongs to the group of nouns that end in -e and become plural by changing the ending to -i. For instance cane (dog, masc. sing.) => cani (dog, masc. plur.) or classe (class, fem. sing.) => classi (fem. plur.). For more information check out the following videos: Italian Nouns: Masculine and Feminine: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHK4ZX-jjdBjibc Italian Nouns: Singular to Plural: kzbin.info/www/bejne/naiTaGV8d8aCrZY Thanks for watching!

please how do we differentiate the feminine words that end with O and the masculine words that end with A, it is very difficult to recognize
@99problemi8 жыл бұрын
There is no real way to know which words that end in O and the masculine words that end in A. Knowing the exceptions is either a matter of memorization or a lot of experience. For the feminine words that end in O, it pays to know the major instances: la mano, la foto, l'auto and la radio. Masculine words that end in A (or rather MA) they are often of Greek origin -- if that is helpful. Common examples are: il problema, il diploma, il poema, il programma. It can also be extremely useful to memorize the word together with the article rather than simply memorizing the word itself as masc or fem. Let me know if that helps.
@brainman679 жыл бұрын
Do you need to say the article when you are talking? An example of what I'm saying would be written and said. Ex 1 written "il mio padre ha una macchina." Now if I were saying this would I do this. "Mio padre ha una macchina." or would I put in the il article?
@99problemi9 жыл бұрын
brainman67 Thanks for your questions. You do need the article most of the time when speaking. The exception is when you are referring to a singular family member (see the following: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqbZcmOlmL2oq9E) as in your example. In the case of 'il mio padre' vs. 'mio padre', you would use 'mio padre' because its a singular family member. The same would hold true for 'mia madre', 'mio nonno', etc. There are some more nuances and exceptions, (see: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooG3qXh9qciUmNU) but this will take care of a major exception. Study the linked videos and let me know if you have more questions. Thanks for watching!

No, we don't add articles when referring to family members except in plurals and in Loro. For example: mia madre, la loro sorella, i vostri cugini, etc

Grazie ! Ho una domanda! Lezione is feminine singular? I thought it was feminine plural so I wrote Le nostre lezione
@99problemi3 жыл бұрын
Lezione is feminine singular. There are many other nouns that end in -ione that are fem. sing. too. You may be confused by the -e ending which is often the fem. plural ending, like 'le ragazze' (the girls). Remember that there are two types of nouns those of 4 terminations (ending in -o, -a, -i, -e) or 2 terminations (-e, -i). Lezione is the singular and lezioni is the plural.

I found the Video very interesting.I am trying to Learn Italian on a Course I am doing at my local college in England. I have tried to learn French,Spanish and German as well but with little success, (Two out of Ten). I find foreign languages completely different to English.In English the Grammar and every other thing is easy to follow and understand.In English there is no, Masculine , Feminine and when it comes to Verbs,Adjectives,Prepositions,Articles, Etc.,I am completely lost.There again there is the Formal and Informal. Communication must be in it’s Simplest Form both in it’s Structure and Understanding.I feel English is the only Language that fits this Ideal. I shall carry on with my Italian Course as it will end in July.I will have little success(Two out of Ten). Two out of Ten is better Nought out of Ten.I sure you would agree with me in that.With Best Wishes.

@99problemi4 жыл бұрын
@@mizounermine8848 At the simplest level (perhaps too simple) a singular noun that ends in -o is masculine and a sing. noun that ends in -a is feminine. The ones that end in e in the singular can be both, there are patterns with these words. For instance, words ending in ione are feminine ... but you mostly have to look them up and memorize their gender.
@mizounermine88484 жыл бұрын

i dont the number 4 example: (his)____pagina. shouldn't it be il suo because of what's inside the parentheses????
@99problemi6 жыл бұрын
'Sua' can mean both his, her, and your (formal). The adjective agrees with the gender and number of the noun it modifies. Since 'pagina' is feminine, you have to use the feminine singular form, hence: la sua pagina. I hope that helps.

When I translate the sentence "My letter" is "La Mia Lettera". I am just confused why is it not "La Mia La lettera" . Aren't we supposed to always use an article before the noun??
@99problemi8 жыл бұрын
When you modify a noun with a possessive adjective you don't need more than one article. Technically 'la mia lettera' still has an article in front of the noun, there is just a possessive adjective in between.
