Airsoft Technician for 8 years and long time aircraft enthusiast. Okay here is why the rounds did not hurt the tank, lets start with a few facts about what is happening in air as the A-10 is shooting. Air flows around and over the air frame in flight, this causes a pressure build up on the nose, which in the A-10's case is particularly stubby, as the air pressure builds up it also flows down the airsoft barrel. So we have pressure building up in the barrel pushing the round backwards. Meanwhile the air inside the RC is not being compressed, this air is what the airsoft gun will draw upon to fire the BB, the piston is released by the sector gear, and compresses air and attempts to push it forward and out of the barrel. While it is certainly not enough to stop the BB it will slow it down, however it does not stop there, once the round is out of the barrel and clear of the air frame it is out of the pressure zone created by the moving aircraft and is further slowed down as it hits the still air. This is certainly enough to drop the speed of the BB from 350 feet per second to what would seem like 120 -150 feet per second. Perhaps this is the reason that most fighter jets do not use rifle ammunition for their primary weapon systems? In order to combat these effects at least in part, the air would need to be diverted away from the barrel in some way, and the air pressure produced by the airsoft piston increased by installing a stronger spring.

You do have a point, and they are using the p90s. One good thing is that they used a small barrel and not a longer one. The longer one would cause slower bb speed because of the amount of air already compressed in the barrel. Having a bigger cylinder might have a better impact on better fps for just using .20 tracers, which they are prolly using. And the funny part is they said "< .33" in the weights but they can get up into the .49s (nosvrich sniper boi bb)

or you add a ram scoop over the barrel to and bleed a bit off and out the barrel behind the bb to overcome the inward air pressure ... and the wind turbine will be able to add power with a basic alternator setup (easy to make a small one) ... and not only do you recharge in flight but you also pressurize the gun against the incoming air and negate the drag down the barrel

It does not work that way on real aircraft and aircraft mounted machine guns or cannon. A projectile fired from a machinegun, or cannon will leave the barrel at the same velocity it would if it were static on the ground. The reason modern fighters use cannon instead of small arms ammunition is... a burst of 7.62 NATO rifle bullet or a .50bmg projectile does not cause enough damage in the short time on target dwell times that are inherant to jet combat. Explosive cannon shells, you only need a few to hit to destroy important structures.

Use a more powerful motor to increase the fps of the BB, also use a lighter BB like a 0.25g.

the motor in the GB doesn't influence the BB speed, but the main spring, displacement of the piston, air tightness between the nozzle/barrel and barrel dimensions will influence that the motor only pulls back the piston, and it is released at a fixed point so no advantage from that, what a different motor may influence is the strenght of the spring it can pull back and the rate of fire, as a stronger motot will be able to compress more effectively stronger springs so the gun doesn't loses RPM, it can also be increased by going for a higher voltage battery, like a 11.1v Li-Po but that would need a overhaul of the gearbox as most airsoft guns aren't built out of the box to handle rates that fast (mostly the gears and piston rack)
