A Blow Out For The Blow Dryer Challenged

We all have that one (or more) styling tool that we find...ummm...challenging. Mine is the blow dryer. I can never get a blow out that looks as good as what I can get in a salon. Today I am testing out the SalonClub FreeStyle Detachable Brush Kit to see if I can get a salon style blow out, even though I am blow dryer challenged.

You're so fun and you ALWAYS look fabulous! I'd like to offer a couple of tips that I've learned in my 14 years of being a licensed cosmetologist--1. if you point the blowdryer nozzle UP the hair shaft, it can ruffle the hair cuticle (the outside part) which can translate into frizz. It's better to point the nozzle down the hair shaft to help keep each strand sleeker. 2. It's best to get your hair about 80-85% dry before using the round brush. Wet hair is weaker, so when you roll a brush through it AND point hot air at it, you can cause damage & frizz, plus it's just easier to pull that brush through it, especially if you have longer or thicker hair, when it's partially dry. Clever idea! I have a lot of curly hair - even my old stylist would get tired arms styling it. I also get hot, especially in the summers here in Georgia - and that sweat equals FRIZZ. I like touseled "bed head" style hair best, but it's a lot of work. This might be a good way to go. I used to use hot rollers, but too hot and took too long. Thanks for demonstrating Monique!

Hmmm I don’t have that problem when I blow dry my hair. I do know tho, if I use a brush like that?? My hair gets tangled in it really bad!! I just use a regular, wide bristle plastic type brush to blow dry my hair & it works for me. Also I learned years ago, that if I bend forward & brush all my hair forward (hiding my mug) & blow dry it some underneath & forward, flip it back & finish, it looks much fuller.

I know that feel! I used to always have frizzy, out-of-shape hair after blowdrying and never knew why. Once I mastered the art of the circular brush, things got so much better! Now it's always silky smooth and shiny, no weird kinks :) I also do it bent over to prevent it sticking to my back. Then finish up around my face after I come up !

I blow dryer challenged too ugh with long hair I use to dry my hair upside down to give it more volume. Now I half dry it upside down and the rest upright, bending my head over that long hurts and my hair takes forever to dry. Those kits looks like they would work, Thanks for sharing

Blow dryer challenged...yep that's me. Wasn't always that way. I had some really huge hair back in the 80's and did it all with a round brush and blow dryer...and lots of hair spray! A few decades and a couple of bad wrists later and I just can't manipulate a brush and dryer like that anymore. You have enough natural curl that you really don't need to do anything to it at all. Mine is flat and stick straight. Oh how I envy you!

These brushes would totally do the trick. A hack you can use to put less strain on your wrists would be to blow-dry your hair free hand till it's about 75% dry, then roll in the barrels & pass the blow-dryer over them till dry. Let cool & voila! Good Luck!

What a neat idea someone came up with to make the brush turn into multiple 'curlers'! My hair is quite a bit longer in length, so it might be a little harder to roll them all up like you did. The concept is intriguing, but, unfortunately, I find the option a titch pricey, at almost $100.00 U.S., considering I would also have to pay the exchange rate to Canadian funds, shipping & handling, plus duties, and taxes, etc. I am glad it is helping you a lot with the styling of your growing hair! WOW... I must be blind, I never seen this video, and I'm impressed by this product your using. I'm extremely blow dryer challenged. I've got thick hair and it's so hard to style it.
