ive never seen anyone repair a compressor, theyre all like replace the unit. seal bad ? replace, clutch bad ? replace, ac not working ? lets throw a compressor at it for like $1500.

Thats because its warranty work, do it as cheap as possible 😂

Because like the man said that compressor will be leaking again in 1-2 years time (conveniently when the warranty expires). The bad seals end up grinding a tiny ridge into the driveshaft that will eventually damage the new seal. The correct method is to remove the entire nose cone at that you can actually sand down the shaft to remove the ridge as much as possible, but you will never get it 100% perfect. There’s just too much liability for shops nowadays in rebuilding parts

I love how I had to put up with weekly reminders and almost daily emails, from Honda, that stated that there was nothing wrong with the compressor and that the seal was supposed to leak a little. Now here we are 4 years later, and Honda is now accepting that there is a problem. Better late then never I guess.

That's what they said about the condensers and told us that we weren't doing our PDI and checking if the a/c worked when we were submitting all the claims for the condensers leaking. After they were coming back after being sold.

Repaired a 2006 ACDelco scroll type AC compressor by flipping over the stainless steel reed valve so it closed completely. Piece of cake.

Man at KIA on the new Sportage 1.6 Hybrids I see ATF leaks starting between the hybrid motor and DCT,. All below 10k kilometers. That's going to become a service recall shortly.

When I was doing PDI the new Santa Fe 8 speed were leaking, the sway bar bushing bracket bolts cross threaded into the sub frame and causing noise cuz it wasn't run down all the way, a line of dead pixels across the screen on the new ioniq 5, someone left a bolt in the inlet side of the turbo on a Kona N, spilled coolant in the fuse box causing electrical issues, connectors not connected, missing bolts on genesis list goes on.

Amazon won't have it. The tool was sent to us by Honda and every dealer was sent to do the service bulletin.

There's rumors going around and people are saying it might be because of the new r1234yf. But we do so many other a/c repairs anyways. I might as well be an a/c mechanic.

I have a V5 compressor and was able to punch it out from the rear of the housing. Hit the inside of the seal so you don't mar the surface where seal is held.

It's for the 10th Gen civic the turbo and non turbo compressor are different and the CRV turbo will use the same tool as the civic turbo engine

They are about the same difficulty. Just one has less space than the other.

What I've never understood is: Hydrolocking a compressor is a thing, right. And yet you pour plenty of oil directly in to the compressor. How does it not immediately hydro-lock when you start it up?!

But think about it this way if your a/c is off and the refrigerant in your system is equalized what is the compressor taking in when your compressor starts up. And the majority of compressors use reed valves. Not saying you can't but you would really have to overfill the system. In the manual it will say how much to put in the compressor before installing. Or any components you are replacing.

So I had my seal replaced in my civic but they now say the compressor is bad after it started leaking again, could I have them replace it again?

Are you having issues with your a/c? Are they saying it's leaking because the area where the compressor is located is wet. Because the previous tech didn't clean around the subframe from all the oil and dirt that was left behind from when they replaced the seal. Also condensers always start leaking after a few years.

It is a tool that the manufacturer send us every dealership gets one any additional the company has to pay for.
