The Terrapin Medical should have sleeping/living space and weapon lockers. It should not be a giant tougher Pisces, that's just a very slight upgrade, but especially for that price and size, it should offer more livability and function.

I'm a medic main and command team of a medical org; In the current game with the current mechanics the best strictly medical ship is the Ursa medical. It upgrades so many other ships into a medical hospital. Can fix any injury by setting respawn and backspacing. Even later in the game where a T3 bed will likely only stabilise on route to a larger station its functionality will remain invaluable. All together the Connie Andromeda with a Nursa onboard is the best. It has a decent shield, firepower and its own support craft while having enough seats to support a team on top of all that and a small enough footprint to fit in most places. Compared to the Medapin with its $85 tax over the cutty its a no brainer

The medical Terrapin did one thing... It made me give a better look at the Apollo. 😆 So I bought a couple CCUs. Started with my Zeus ES > Medical Terrapin > Starlancer Max > Apollo Medevac. Not bad for $55. Wasn't crazy about the Zeus ES so I did apply the Terrapin CCU. I'll just leave the other two ccu's alone until the Apollo comes out. The loaner for the Apollo is the Cutlass Red. Seems quite a downgrade for such an expensive ship. A $135 Cutlass in lieu of a $275 hospital ship. 🤨

my ambulance would be a cutter with both a bunk and a med-bed, the Terrapin should have a bunk. One can live out of one of those then. So I would class anything where you can sleep and respawn as something else. The 5$ difference between the nursa and the pisces is sweet. those are both great for complementing bigger ships.
@garrycopeland6149
@garrycopeland6149 11 күн бұрын
For me, the problem with most of these is the lack of a bed to bed log. Having a tier 2 med bed means less backspacing. Carrack therefore is still the best 'medical' ship imo plus it has a garage big enough to store many vehicles. Large as it is, it's still entirely possible to string bunker missions together indefinitely without having to return to a base, bugs notwithstanding!

The Medi-pin is also great for hostile bunkers if you want to try a game-lop that requires more skill You can't brute-force the bunker defenses. You have to slide up on the deck, and pick them off one-by-one. And then you can normally position it almost as close as you can the Pieces.

The Cutlass Red v Terrapin medical seems the hardest to justify, saving $85 on the cutlass + the multipurpose role feels actually like a bargain. But the Terrapin is a fav… tough call which I’d choose.

The $85 difference is crazy to me, I think they are trying to justify the price with the up-tiered bed and armor (which does nothing currently). I did hear someone talking about the medical terrapin being almost a stealth ambulance because of the closing the vents to lower signature (again not in game yet that I am aware of).

Not only is the Cutlass Red currently $85 cheaper than the Medipin, it was the original space ambulance, debuting in Alpha 3.8.1 (Feb 2020). We didn't have another medical ship (not counting the Carrack and 890 Jump) until the C8R came out in Alpha 3.17 (April 2022).

85 dollars more, ($85 if you will), for the Terrapin Medic is gonna get you a pretty armored ship and a Tier 2 med bed, but what benefits you end up getting from that in the end depends on Death of a Spaceman and medical gameplay I think.

Ideally, I'd like the Apollo Triage, which I've building toward but haven't got yet. I took the time to check and was disappointed that the Apollo owners get the Red instead of the new Terrapin Medic as loaner, so I guess I'm of the opinion that yes, the Terrapin Medic is worth the $85 premium (or $30 in my discounted CCU chain).

As I ponder the $85 premium, there's a part of me just saying, "Screw those two! The C8R Pisces Rescue and the Ursa Medivac are where it's at!" Another compelling thought is the C8R and Ursa both being carried around on a Carrack for a wide range of search and rescue operations.

I feel like the $85 difference between Cutlass and Medical Terrapin might be justified at some point. The Cutlass, for all its pretensions of being a combat ship, is too easily disabled. And when we start to see T1 beds, I feel like the different tiers will soon mean something more (if only to help sell Apollos and Galaxies).

The Terrapin has always been a weirdly expensive ship and one that's disproportionately used/mentioned by CIG even though they have absolutely zero gameplay for the original and none on the horizon. I think it's just someone's favorite ship concept but they don't actually get to play much, if at all. Still, that $85 premium over the Cutty Red, let alone the giant premium over the Pisces, really makes it hard to justify in the current game. If the Medi-pin wants to be a heavy ambulance, it needs some upgrades to perform the role.

Shame there is no dedicated 1-2 scu cargo space in the terrapin but there is enough space to bring a few scu boxes inside. That extra space and much better survivability in case of hostile attack ( c8r is paper) makes the terrapin a nice solo/duo bunker runner. We will see in the future thought if it is worth the 85$ premium over cutlass.

I like the Terrapin, just wish more ships could carry it. Its hard to be in a ship with such a limited gamepla, the Cutty you can do other things, the Nursa/C8R can be carried in ships to let you do medical when you need/want, but the Terrapin... it's really all you can do, Medical/bunkers

At $85 less than the Terrapin Medical, the cutlass Red has much greater versatility to do other things. There is 12 SCU of space in the back for a small vehicle and/ or cargo, and 4 or more 2 SCU boxes can fit around the medical beds if you are ok without having them anchored down. The cutty red is just able to land at a bunker opening ramp (very tight fit) and you can bring a box along to stash the loot in after succeeding the mission....so long as you didn't shoot the good guy that was graphically doubled up with a bad guy so you only see the bad guy and then end up having your ship blown to smithereens that is right at the ramp entrance.....um, I've done that more than once. Anyway, if you have a Constellation variant, the Ursa Medical makes a ldecent sense if you aren't doing major cargo/ freight runs, but the Starlancer Max seems to make a lot more sense to bring the nursa along just in case.
