Is Utopia worth a read? I’m in the process of collecting the post M-Day titles (X-Force, New Mutants, etc, but not Fraction’s Uncanny itself) and I’d like to know if it adds any useful context to anything that comes after. I’d also like to read those X-Men Legacy tie-ins, which would bridge the gap between Salvage and Emplate. Is it worth getting a cheap second-hand copy?

I'm reading the prelude to messiah war and the clayton crain art is amazing but beast is making some watch to go into the future and cable has some baby and cyclops is gonna kill bishop should I know anything about this or just roll with it?

So that was the aftermath of Mesiah Complex. Cable takes baby Hope to the future and time bouncing around while Bishop chases them. Making Bishop a villain was a ridiculous idea. But I enjoyed that Cable run.

Messiah Complex kicks off the Messiah Trilogy. Messiah War being part of that and Second Coming ending it all. You can skip Supernovas, Endagered, Utopia and you'll be fine. Necrosha is in the third act of the Messiah Trilogy as well.

Cool, I've really enjoyed this series. My wallet isn't that happy as you convinced me to buy a few that I hadn't considered before. :) Although, have to say, this is the section where there are several that I can honestly do without. House of M, Avengers vs X-Men as well as a few others come to mind. But I love my Astonishing X-Men (just managed to grab a copy in time), New X-Men and SuperNovas as well as the Bendis Uncanny (doesn't end on a great note unfortunately, but I really enjoyed the first half of the run and it was the first time in several years that I could say that about X-Men). What I really want is the Peter David X-Factor Investigations run in omnis as well as the Mike Carey run.

I am so glad I stopped collecting singles. All those collections put back to back if they were singles I bet would cost me an arm and a leg both in single retail and collection retail. As interesting as the details of these sound I may never read it unless I were suddenly blessed with untold wealth and a lot of time on my hands. I am glad I read Morrison's New X-Men and Astonishing X-Men. One thing that really bugs me is that both DC and Marvel don't print things and put them in a particular order when you just pick up one collection to read a story, put it away, then wait for the next collection and have a nice presentable collection in logical order from a-z. Instead people run around like chickens with their head off picking up the next big collection waiting for previous material get collected so they can complete their material and read it at a later time. I do love watching your reading orders though. There is something reassuring and comforting in the sound of your voice I can't help but continue watching!

The crossovers post-Astonishing are all about using the X-Men to prop up less popular books and, worse, often making the X-Men behave foolishly in them to make the Guardians or whoever seem cooler by comparison. The X-Men were the badguys in IVX... why? So glad this era seems to finally be behind us. 10 years of this madness.

This is absurdly confusing, and it seems I cannot start anywhere without reading every god damn thing before, I TRIED starting with Schism but I had absolutely NO IDEA what was happening or where they were or how and why they were there. I'm gonna read New X-Men, Astonishing X-Men, and Uncanny X-Factor for sure, but after that... It's so many god damn events that comes and goes through a lot of titles I'm COMPLETELY NOT INTERESTED in reading, like Cable, and some others. I just wanna follow Wolverine and all Uncanny X-Men that are involved in that timeline, until Wolverine dies, and then read All New X-Men but I'm not sure if that's safe to do without knowledge of everything that came before. I know Xavier dies in AvX also, and I have no idea how and when he came back. Jesus.

Sounds like you are having a difficult time with x-men. That’s comics for you. My suggestion. Follow what you like. You like Schism? Read wolverine and the x-men next. Then Wolvie dies. Follow X-23 to All new wolverine. I can’t get into spoilers unless you want me to. It will help explain how things happen.

I just dont understand why you would ever let omnibuses go out of print, the fact they sell out every single time means it should be a top priority to keep them in print for as long as possible. I know they're probably expensive to put together but again the fact they sell out must mean that it would still be profitable to do and beneficial to readers like me who would actually like to get them. but cant possibly afford more than 1 or 2 a month. especially when you wnat to collect more than just the x-men.

There are a couple of reasons. Space being the biggest one. If you store endless amount of omnibus books in one warehouse that never go out of print, you will run out of space. I at least want Uncanny volume 1 to always stay in print.

I don't care, I liked Mike Carey's sole X-Men creation of Stacy X. If Chuck Austen didn't torpedo the character, I think she could have been interesting.

I'm sure Astonishing will see a second print. As fart as Bendis leaving I don't think we'll get a All-New/Uncanny omnis but I'm sure House of M omnibus will still happen.
