Can mister Bikman or dr Fung explain this : If you look at the blood sugar in an animal or person carrying a tumor, their blood sugar generally is at least normal, and even if they don’t eat any sugar, they’ll still keep their blood sugar at about the same level. There have been many attempts to starve a cancer by lowering the blood sugar, but the tumor is sending out signals to provide sugar and protein, amino acids and fatty acids that it needs to grow. And so if you cut off the sugar supply, all it does is send out more stress signals to increase the basically cortisol production to break down your tissues, and it causes tissue wasting, the catexia that is the worst feature of cancer usually. It is produced by the stress hormones which are converting your protein in tissues and fat tissues into food for the cancer to make up for the absence of sugar. One experimenter put in a high concentration of glucose into the artery feeding a tumor in the extremity, and they could get an extremely high concentration of sugar to it, and it killed the tumor without hurting the healthy tissue because the tumor has such an unlimited appetite for anything that it will eat itself to death. In vitro, if you feed unsaturated fats to cancer cells, they’ll eat themselves to death. But in the body, the unsaturated fats are under control. Other tissues will consume them and be injured, and you can’t do anything but stimulate a cancer with the unsaturated fats.”

My father-in-law was diagnosed with Type-2 diabetes approximately 8 months ago. His youngest brother suffered and died from Type-2 diabetes issues at the age of 56 a year ago. He had amputation of the toes and foot and finally heart failure. My father-in-law finally took my advice to dump added sugar, reduced carbs, seed oils, processed food and fast food-restaurants. I told him to stick to homemade food cooked in butter or olive oils. He basically went low carb, high in meat-chicken-fish-egg-vegetables and a little bit of fruit. After 8 months of eating this way, he’s no longer diabetic. I am not a doctor but a retired cop with a lot of free time watching KZbin on subjects like Metabolism, Diet/Lifestyle, Fasting . Thank you to experts like Dr. Jason Fung, Dr. Bikman, Dr. Ford Brewer, Dr. Ken Berry, Eric Westman. Nina Telcholz, Paul Saladino, Sten Elbert, Anthony Chaffee, Shawn Baker, Eric Berg, Mark Hyman, Robert Cher’s , Dr. Boz….

Add Dr Cywes to that list. He's a little long winded at times but he presents a lot of great info, especially his earlier videos on carb addiction. Maintaining a keto or carnivore lifestyle in this day of carb over-consumption can't be accomplished without understanding how we manage our own triggers to food

I'm glad I stumbled across Dr. Fung. I started searching about fasting wondering what was physically possible and with some of No Lab Coat Required's ideas on salt & electrolyte importance and intake (and wondering how a local Church pastor claimed to fast for seven days). What an eye opener this journey has been especially in regards to how/when/why a body stores and uses fat. I've always assumed the only way to lose weight was simply energy out greater than energy in (i.e. working out more with eating less but more often). Knowledge to when and why a body starts to use fat energy has be an awakening. I'm no longer as worried about old age (quickly approaching for me). I'm trying mightily to change habits now while I have a strong will and good health so when the future arrives, I'll be prepared.

I have all the opposite problems that don’t make any sense. I have an A1C-5.6 , triglycerides 194, LDL 138 and insulin is 3.8. I went low carb because A1C was 6.2(insulin was 6 at that time) I lost 15# and am now at 105(5’4” and no fatty liver or Fat on the inside) do you think I may have something going on with my pancreas? With these problems I would think insulin would be higher. The triglycerides are what I am mostly concerned about. Oh BTW I am a Dr Fung fan for many years. I have been IF for 10+ yrs. Mostly around 19:5 but lately OMAD.

Gentlemen, I have recently heard that CT & CAT Scans can also have an effect on Obesogens thus disabling us to lose weight. What do you guys think. This is a genuine enquiry from a Type 2 diabetic. I am subscribed to both of you following Jason with intermittent fasting and Ketovore rather than Insulin or other diabetes drugs, Ben, I have tried Allulose but found my weight started going back up. I had a Melanoma removed 2 years ago and have undergone 4 of those tests at 6 month intervals since then with no metastasis found, thankfully

@GamingNormaly 12 сағат бұрын
Gotta start easy with a keto diet to get you to run out of glykogen. I'd say 3-4 days without any carbs should do it. Being in a calorie deficit will also help and speed it up.
@robyroby1902
@robyroby1902 11 сағат бұрын
@GamingNormaly I did it.... Only keto for 8 days... Maximum 30 gr of carbs a day. I couldn't sleep because I probably had too many proteins and went pee every hour.. but I'm not on a diet, I don't need to lose weight so I have to eat something and if I get rid of carbs I have more fats and proteins and then I can't sleep because my kidneys are too busy and stressed 😥 I'm a fan of keto and fasting because I like to believe they can be beneficial for my longevity and health but I feel great in a low carb.... And maximum doing a 8/16, sometimes 6/18 i.f. no longer

This was a good interview it summarizes well that contemporary medicine and nutrition science are based on false hypotheses, such as: 1) saturated fat causes heart disease (CVD); 2) insulin is a treatment for Type 2 Diabetes; 3) Energy Balance Model is enough to lose weight; 4) cholesterol is clogging arteries (CVD).

Jason and Ben. I believe the concept that explains why smart clinicians stick with the calorie model is paradigm paralysis. That is it’s not seeing and evaluating data about insulin but rather their inability to even take it in. It’s more than simple bias from their training… at a subconscious level data that conflicts with their “calorie paradigm”. Reference Thomas Kuhn and Joel Barker’s work.
@1969spp
@1969spp 4 сағат бұрын
Debt stress, greed and/or Lust for money, wealth and social status also, in addition to paradigm paralysis. Funny how many "good" doctors start seeing the light and speaking up towards the end of their careers.

What if you intermittent fast daily and do clean ketogenic diet and fasting insulin is still high at 12? Is it high cortisol? What causes this. Been ketogenic under 20 total carbs 3 years. Insulin still high.
@katerandall8122

If u r T2D try a few extended fasts to lower your insulin. I had an hbA1C of 13 and had to work up my fasting muscle from 24 hr fasts to 120h (5 days) to drop my insulin sufficiently to drop Glucose and start losing weight. Now pre-diabetic with HbA1C of 6.4 and when I stray off keto or carnivore plan I only need a 48 hour fast to drop insulin sufficiently to resume losing weight.
@oceania1917
@oceania1917 8 сағат бұрын
@ my A1C is 5.4 so I am not pre-diabetic. My lowest fasting insulin has been 11 and can’t seem to get to single digits. I’m thinking maybe cortisol is high and keeping my insulin high despite ketogenic diet for years and fasting. Unless it just takes more years to bring it down lower.
