The Dr Phil episode with her was crazy. She’s a cold blooded murderer. And it’s heartbreaking that her dad survived & stood by her when she took everything from him.

I don’t think her parents did anything wrong here, yes they were strict but I wasn’t even allowed to date in high school. People in the comments over exaggerate their strictness, they allowed her to see her boyfriend, but put rules in place when they saw the negative influence the relationship was having on their daughter, that’s just parenting.

Strict parents make sneaky kids. And there's nothing wrong with homeschooling, but kids still need socialization with others outside the family. Also I find it super creepy when parents don't let their kids have regular relationships with kids their own age. I feel sorry for Charlie bc he got into a relationship with a psycho. And he definitely should have walked away instead of letting hisself be talked into murdering a whole family. But Erin is the true monster and should never be allowed freedom. She is a terrible person and she disgusts me.

I would also like to suggest the case of Lauren McCluskey, who was a University of Utah student who was tragically murdered in October 2018. Her ex had completely lied about his identity when they first met & refused to let her go when she discovered his lies. She reported his stalking & harassment to campus police over 20 times & they never did a thing to help her. One officer was eventually fired for circulating her nude photos that had been in evidence. Yes, you actually just read that; a police officer sent around nude photos of a murder victim whose case he had worked on. It's a very sad & extremely frustrating case, but I think it's a case that more people should be aware of & everyone can learn from in multiple ways.

I was homeschooled. My parents were very religious. I had to wear dresses, and wasn’t allowed to cut my hair, or wear makeup, or sleeveless shirts. We didn’t have a tv, and I wasn’t allowed to go to the movies or do anything they considered “worIdly”. I was the lead singer of our church youth group and my dad plays guitar so we went to church almost every night. And twice on Sunday. And they still think they’re religion is the only one that is right. As soon as I was old enough I was gone. Lol

Disagree. I was raised in a similar way as this girl. I went to church every Saturday sometimes twice. I was never allowed to have a bf and when I had one I snuck it behind my parents back. They never let me go on dates and hardly let me have friends outside of school. I never once wanted to kill my parents. Did I feel like I hated them at points? Yeah, definitely. I would never considering killing my whole family because of it. This girl has a mental issue that caused this.
@tatiannabaker3943
@tatiannabaker3943 Жыл бұрын
@@veronicavillasenor5215e gotta stop comparing our individual experiences and outcomes to other peoples, strict parenting is part of the problem as we’ve seen time and time again. Ofc not everyone turns into a murderer and some people are just evil or crazy but the way it affected you has nothing to do with Erin’s case. We’ll never figure out how to help these people and their family’s before it gets too this if we keep thinking about how we would handle something or how it affected us. Also obviously being overly strict doesn’t help if someone’s already mentally ill.
@veronicavillasenor5215
@veronicavillasenor5215 Жыл бұрын
@@tatiannabaker3943 I personally do not think that her parents were overly strict though. She was allowed to have a boyfriend, they had him around the family, then when she rebelled and did not listen to their rules they limited her to see him. They were doing what they were supposed to as parents. Even if I were to take out my experience with very strict parenting from the equation it's very obvious to me that this girl did not have normal mental function. She was told many times to rethink this. Her boyfriend asked her to try a different method. She still chose to kill her entire family. It's ridiculous to minimize these actions as a direct product of strict parenting alone.
@MrsDetroit622

No one abused that girl. I was raised strict and I never would have even dreamed of hurting my parents, much less kill them. She said herself her parents were great to her. She is just a rotten apple.

Me and my brothers were homeschooled but we weren't isolated at all always had alot of extra curricular activities loved it we had more freedom to do school when we wanted tested higher than our peers that were public schooled. Lots of volunteer work for environmental causes had a very rich childhood. And all of us now have our masters mine is in anthropology one of my brothers is aeronautical engineer and another one is an accountant another is in emt and my youngest sibling is a marine biologist. I think whether ur kid is in public school private charter or homeschooling if the parents aren't involved and don't take the initiative to make sure their kids life is rich and full the child isn't going to be happy and they are not going to do well in any part of life unfortunately

I grew up in a very similar situation, in fact when I was around 16-17 years old, I contemplated a very similar thing. The reason being is because of control. I was controlled with everything I said, I did, where I went, whom I was with. And my parents were also deeply religious and I remember many times when I would get upset I was told that if I didn't change my ways I was going to go to hell because the Bible says to honor your parents. So sadly, I understand where this girl is coming from.

Yes, whilst I understand the poor deceased parent's goals, they needed moderation. Teen time is such a mix of hormones, trying to understand one's self and anger Unfortunately this type of thing happens more than we know

I think talking on the phone for hours as teens is a great thing. It shows how much you have in common rather than confusing hormones with intimacy. I deliberately looked for my last (and current) partner online because if you can’t engage me in conversation you won’t have a hope in being with me. You can laugh me into bed.

Her parents may have been strict but they were not completely heartless. She was allowed to leave the house and come back. It wasn't a prison. She was re-enrolled in public school because she wanted to return to school. If her parent were so bad they would have said no. She had many chances to runaway even Charlie was willing to run away with her. Her parents let Charlie into the house on multiple occasions they couldn't have been that bad she can rot

The thing that got me thinking is when you said her father still stood by her side and believed her story. Also, the fact that you said, she was like an angel and did nothing wrong, makes me think that her parents dotted on her, and they also tried to make her something she wasn't. They thought she was one way, but she really wasn't. Becuase if she was who they thought she was this perfect girl being led astray by Charlie/others, then they are sorely mistaken. She chose Charlie. She liked what he represented. She was probably a fake, putting firth a facade.

She was always capable of this. When they got caught she didn't hesitate she immediately blamed Charlie. The cops didn't see her when they first entered the room because she was hiding, she was ready. That parenting really wasn't even that strict like she had a cellphone, a car, a job and in the beginning was allowed to see Charlie. It was only once she started fighting with her mom she lost privileges which is what grounding is. Other teens get mad and slam their bedroom door and ignore their parents not murder them. If she could sneak out so easily they could have just run off. This wasn't a case about abusive overbearing parents it's about a teen girl that just wanted her way. And 5 months then Charlie proposes well he seems to have been a little obsessive. And how do people always manage to just find accomplices like "oh I wanna kill someone will you help ? Hell yeah." That I don't get

There was too much religion thrown at the kids, any hobbies, interests was based around the church. The first hurdle of possible bisexuality they were removed from school. Kids need to socialise, learn friendship and relationships with others. All that was taken away from them. I know it not nice but I'm not really surprised something like this happened. A bit give and take on both sides works wonders.

When you start out a family annihilator story with “Her family was baptist in Texas” in literally don’t need to hear the rest of the story to know why. Oppression and repression. My mom grew up southern baptist and she HATES church and religion because of it, she grew up thinking that every single thing she did was a sin and that’s a very dangerous mindset. Is also like to add that my mom is the most caring and giving person in her family and her sister thinks transgenders are bad because of God and that assault rifles are more important than their child at school soooooooo you decide who turned out better for their beliefs Not that parents deserve to die! No one does in these stories, there is always a better solution

Some kids need more time or more hands on help, some kids need you to explain using relatable situations. Just like u can't teach all kids yhe same way, you cant parent kids the same way.
